I took a drag from my cigarette as the authority fire department attempted to put out the fire on the building.

Kai kept staring at me. “What are you going to tell-“

“Hush!” I said as I looked up to see Cooper’s crusier coming down on our location. “Your father is here. Do not say anything. You’ve done enough for a death sentence in our pack but you are still my son. You may not value that connection with me but I birthed you into this world.”

Kai was quiet.

Cooper’s cruiser was barely on the ground when the doors opened and he jumped out and hugged me. He then drew me back and stared at me..I saw his face change into a mask of rage.

“What happened?”

“I set the library on fire.” I said calmly.

Cooper stared at me. “Okay. Where was Kai during all this?”

“We had an intruder. He caught Kai off guard and held him. The intruder told me to burn the library or he would kill Kai. So I-“

“-I have the live footage of what happened. I told you honey. I’m always watching and listening.”

I stared at him. “Why did you ask me?”

“To see if Kai would be man enough to tell me the truth. He let that boy in my house to steal my secrets and sell them to my enemies then got your library burned to hide his crimes. Hmm. You lying for him is understandable and makes me happy you understand the kind of shit he’s into now. That’s not going to save him though. Kai let that piece of shit into my house and near my woman..well that puts him in an un easy stance.”

“Can you forgive him? Just once.” I asked.

“You know me honey. Kai. I think it’s time you did some growing up boy. I been a bit to easy on you lately. Well that is over.. You just burned up every bridge between you and me and now all that’s left is a rite of passage to hell for you, boy. Strip!”

Kai stared at his father open mouth until Kang grabbed him and started taking off his clothes leaving him with only his underwear on and nothing else.

Cooper stared at him. “You make it twenty-four hours on your own then your life is your own but you ain’t no son of mean. You betrayed a mother that loves you. A father that provided for you and a pack loyal to you. I told you when you came of age loyalty and trust bind us together. Get the fuck on.”

“Dad. Don’t do this!” Kai begged.

“Bitch!” Cooper snarled. “What the FUCK are you? Are you even my son?”

“Holy shit. Don’t listen to this little shit. Kai. We done with you.. Get the hell out here bitch.” Kang snarled.

“Fuck you.” Kai spat at Kang. “You think your hot shit because mother pretends to favor you. That whole naming show was bullshit to help her bastard son. You ain’t shit but a fool under her spell.. Your weak.. I challenge you to be the heir of the Cooper pack.”

“Fuck you. I ain’t listening to none of your horseshit. I know who I am and you ain’t pack no more. We nothing.. Get the fuck on before you can’t leave. You thieving bastard.” Kang said.

“Kai. Please leave before your tongue gets you killed.”

“Shut up, bitch.” Kai said and attempted to slap me but Kang back slapped him and kicked him to the ground with swift kick to his chest and started stumping on Kai while Cooper stared on silently.

“I give up. I give up.” Kai begged laying motionless.

Kang kicked him in stomach one last time before standing beside his father pushing me back behind him. “I catch you near my people or mother again. It’s over for you, Slag.”

Cooper stared at Kai.. “You weak sum-ah-bitch. I show you mercy and you spit in my fucking face and try to turn my son against his mother. My Daddy would have killed me if I did half of the shit you pulled tonight.” He paused and stared at Kai.

Oh shit. “Kai. RUN!”

“Fuck this shit.” Cooper said finally losing his patience. He drew his Mac P90 from his gunbelt as Kai took off running as he fired at him. I hugged Cooper’s waist. “Let him go. It’s the only way he’ll learn.”

“Your a good woman but your a piss poor liar. There’s no hope for that boy. You know that right.”

I knew that. Kai was a roin now and would proable be dead before the dawn of the next day. But still. “He’s my son.” I said and it was enough.
