Chapter 8

Two months later…

Beau waited until for half an hour in abandoned car until it was safe to move out in the night. He eased out of the SUV with his rifle case and made sure to keep his hoodie up just in case someone saw him. He checked his wrist watch to see that he was running late. He brought the watch close to his mouth. “Scan area for enemies.” He said.

The glowed for a second and then energy echoed out expanding around him. He looked down on as a digital screen expanded out and showed him a map of the area red and blue dotes moving around.

The there was a building marked in green as the place he had to head to. He quickly waved away digital image and started moving adjusting his rifle carrying case as he crept soundlessly through the empty streets that where abandoned and looted cars remained.

He made half way to the building he had been asided to go to before he watched alerted him to an enemy attack. He turned in to a crutch and shot the enemy. He got off one round as a shot hit his head sending him down to the ground at the same his round went into the chest of the woman.

He lay on the ground motionless and waited as he felt his wrist watch alerting by vibrations that he had several other enemies around.

“Maddy? You alright?” A male voice called out to the female on the ground.

“Shit. Yeah. Asshole caught me lucky his shitty bullet caught my body armor. I got him. The sisters are going to pay us big for his Tecnomancer’s head.” Maddy said.

“You sure it’s him?” The male asked her.

“It’s him. Stop being a pussy and take his head off. I’ll grab his weapons afterwards. He might be able to some of his powers if we can cut him and eat him. Get to it Tom. Time is no on our side. We got to get back to the sisters before day break.” Maddy said.

“Yeah. I think’s going to taste good.” The male voice the said coming close Beau.

When he was close enough. Beau sprang to his feet and shot the man in the head. He turned as the Maddy started running away really fast. Beau took aim and shot her in the back of the head.

Beau then put away his pistol and picked up his rifle case and started for the building quickly moving to make up for time. He got inside the business and found the stairway fast. He started running fast and taking leaps up flights of stairs at a time until he got to the door of the penthouse suit and roof.

He started his step. He began to put his rifle together piece. Until it was complete and ready to go. He lay down on his belly and took aim where his target was set to be. He didn’t have to wait long. His target Vlad the gangster ruler of the east side gang was up already as the day broke doing his exercises.

Beau looked through his sniper scope at his target as he performed a martial arts routine. He was on the mark. The man was naked form the waist down with grey sweat pants on. His feet was bare as he moved on the roof top of the penthouse he and his gang had taken over.

Young children played around him outside the training area he had in the center of the roof top. Beau took his hand off the trigger and put his rifle down. He couldn’t believe it had come down to this shit. He couldn’t do. He had done a lot of shit over the past two months that turned his stomach over just to protect the people that were trapped in the prison island that New York City had become sense the government had locked it down two and half months ago.

He was tired of this shit. There had to be a way around this shit. He needed to have a meeting with the team. They had to find a way to end the lockdown and get their people out.

“Are you starting to turn in to a pussy?” A female voice said behind him.

Beau turned and he couldn’t help smiling at the curvy female dressed in all black with full head mask around covering her face. Her thick black hair came out the back end of her mask in a ponytail.

She had a military utility belt around her wide hips and sword behind her back. He nodded to her. “What’s going on gorgeous? You had fun staring at my ass for last for minutes.” He said.

“Sure did.” Artemis said just as smoothly. “You were supposed to take Vlad out today. You getting soft.” She said.

Beau shook his head turning fully toward her. “I take him what happens to his gang? What happens to his children?” He said.

“Hmm. We’ve talked about that. The children would come to us and Doctor E would handle taking care of them.” She said.

Beau shook his head. “You missed the first half of my round of questions. Vlad maybe a gangster and a son of bitch but he’s stabilised a lot of the violence in this city so far. Killing him what happens to the bastards under him that he’s keeping in check.” He said.

Artemis shrugged. “His son could take over or his second in command. There are people to step up. We have to terminate him. We all agreed to this and it is apart of Doctor E’s plan to end the block aid.” She said.

Beau shook his head. “It doesn’t feel right. Vlad isn’t a monster. I’ve had to put down a lot of them a lot of them over the past couple of weeks worse or unstable. It doesn’t make sense to get rid of him and you and me both know that his elder son won’t take over. The grim sisters would just kill him and his family and take over this section of New York City and grow their power.” He said.

Artemis shook her head at him. “He isn’t all that much of a good man as you think he is. He had two of his best come hunting for you.” She said.

“I’m not doing this anymore. We’re only spiralling into a cycle of taken out one enemy just to make room for another and there something else.” Beau said.

Artemis stared at him. “We have a tradior in our camp.” She said.

Beau nodded. “I can hide anything from a mind reader.” He said.

Artemis nodded. “Okay. We need to get in contact with the outside world now and figure out a plan to make them deal with us so they can get the others out.” She said.

I snapped my fingers and pointed at her. “Bingo.” He said.
