Chapter 9
President Helen Bender sat in the oval office going over the reports from New York City. The joint chiefs sat to her right and left quietly letting her remove the reports on the mutants that were in charge of safe guarding the remaining affected people.
Helen slapped down one of the folders that was open to the picture of blue haired man in black hoodie. The name of Captain Beau Lucas. “He’s the only one I want out of the bunch. The rest can be terminated or sent to the new Supers military division for all I care.” She said.
Cor. Eric Briggs turned toward her with a careful expression. “Madam President. Rider and Doctor Eva Jones, Vlad are also top picks we can use for the new Supers divisions. Captain Lucas might be a problem we may want to take care of before we can secure the city and the mutants as assets for military service.”
President Bender folded her arms across her chest and sat back in her seat. “How much of a problem? Be direct. If the analysis report on what Lucas can possible do with weapon and defense engineering is actuate-”
Eric nodded his head. “It is. Madam President. Completely detailed and researched. He’s a modern day Tesla wizard to put it in plain terms.”
President Bender nodded her head. “Good. So what’s the need of a termination of a valuable asset. What’s left of the UK and the European Federation have secured themselves a ready supply of assets for combat and civilian use. But, none of them have a possible asset like Lucas. I want him. The stable mutants that aren’t insane don’t matter or can be shipped out to the Supers stable. But, I see you still have an objection Eric. So give it to me straight. What don’t you like about him?”
Eric didn’t smile but his stare was direct. “Tesla was an idealist with a genius mind. Lucas is a one of kind Super not yet documented in the world. He might be the only one of his own kind. We don’t know if we can control him or will he end up being a liability we have to neutralize down the road. The times are uncertain with the country and the military all going through a reconstruction period.”
President Bender shook her head. “What am I missing that wasn’t in the files?” She said.
Eric held up an Android tablet. “This is something I want you to see.” He said and then bent down setting it on the floor.
President Bender frowned between him and the tablet. “Eric what the hell are you doing?” She asked.
– Voice ID confirmed begin message – A voice from the tablet said.

Suddenly a full body virtual image of Beau Lucas dressed in a hoodie, jeans and sneakers standing before her. “Hello, President Bender. I’m Captain Beau Lucas one of the commanders left protecting the innocent Americans still held up in New York. I designed this device to get into communication with you. All we’re asking is for a chance to be let back into society again and away out of the city before winter sets in the coming near months. Our leader is Jack Rider. Please get in contact with him and his team for us to begin talk. I have enclosed information and blue prints for technical advances I and my team have done. I’m sending this to you as a means of good faith and the hope that you will allow us a way out of the state of life in which New York City has become. We are willing to work with you and talk of how we can benefit you. I’m sure you’ve gathered much information on us from the droids you’ve launched around the city and images you’ve taken. We’ll await your call. Have a good day.” He said and message and image of Beau was gone.
Eric stared at President Bender. “What do you think?” He said.
President Bender pointed at the tablet. “I want everything he sent given to our people and begin the work on it. How did he get the tablet out to us?” She asked.
Eric smiled. “He used one of the drones we sent inside the city as messenger pidgin. He also modified it slightly to make it more improved for flight and none detection.” He said.
President Bender grimaced waving him away. “The plan is still the same. I want him and him only. Tell the freaks whatever bullshit they want to hear and arrange to make it happen but we’re not taking all of those freaks out of that hell hole. Only a handful and make sure it is clear that the second he gets out Lucas is coming to work for us on a permanent basis.” She said.
Eric stared at her. “President-” He began but President Bender held up her hand forestalling any attempts he would have made to argue with her.
“Make it happen like I said. We can not allow the most dangerous monsters out of that place. After we get Beau and few of his people out we’re going to close that place off for as long as it takes for whoever demon that monster created to die off during the winter or through starvation. Get it done or I’ll find someone to get done for me.” She said.
Eric gave her nod. “Okay. I’ll make it happen.” He said. “What about the other selections you have in your mind?” He asked.
“I already have them on board. We’ll use them until we don’t need them or they prove to be to dangerous to deal with. I’m going to need more information on the children and training camps on their progress going so far for the super soldiers division.” She said.
Eric nodded sitting back in his seat. “The peace keeper program is going very well. Our instructors are doing well and producing soldiers ready for combat in the coming months against the Cabal. We just need more soldiers to process the programming better.” He said.
President Bender smiled “You’ll get your freak soldiers Eric. I’m going to see to that.” She said.
