Largo
I waited for Omarion at the gate to the pin with my back to my black cruiser. I looked down at my wrist watch 9:37 a.m.
“What fuck is taking them so long?”
I heard the grind of the gate start to slide open. I looked up to see Omarion dressed in a black suit with a black cap on and scarlet tie. He had a black right eye and bruised left cheek.
Omarion still managed a half sardonic grin as the gate finally cleared for him to leave the hell hole of the Pin prison building. He started forward moving with even steady steps. At least he wasn’t limping.
He made his way over toward me. This fucker was on some bullshit. I couldn’t help grinning. “Fucking asshole how was hard labor in the mines?”
Omarion grinned. “Fucking easiest exercise routine for twelve months. I got the fucking guns from the shit. What’s up bro?”
We slapped hands shook and I took him up in a tight hug and slapped his back. I noticed then that his body was a lot leaner though I felt some hard labor muscle from his arms. His work in the mines had kept him working but it had also taken something out of him.
We moved apart and I looked away as Omarion wiped his face and chuckled. “Damn. I missed your funky colone. You got any spare sunglasses on you bro. The sun is freying my eyes. Working in the mines pretty much fucked up my eyes for a bit.”
I reached into my suit jacket pocket and passed him sunglasses. “I figured you might need a pair.”
Omarion quickly put them on and sighed. “Damn that is a whole lot better. You got any jobs lined up?”
I smiled. “A few seconds out of the pin and already looking to get to work again. I do. I got a list of them on my computer in the cruiser hop in I’m driving though. What happened to your face?”
“I’ll tell ya when we’re on road back to the city. Largo. Thanks for waiting me and-“
“-Don’t start that shit that’ll only piss me off even more. Just get in the cruiser, big brother. We got a lot of catching up to do.” I said hoping into the driver’s side. I started the cruiser just as Omarion got in and I took off toward the main road back to Newark City State.
I put on some music that Omarion liked while I raced along the road in silence. Omarion was staring out the window looking at the city with a funny grin on his face that only grew as we road along closer toward the city. “Who fucked up your face?”
Omarion sighed. “Kang Cooper came to my cell just before they let me out. Cooper wanted to let me know one more time Peaches is off limits. Fucking bullshit games. That’s why I was late.”
I managed not to react right away. I was quiet. “So are you going to start fucking with her again?” I asked carefully.
“I never started fucking with her from the jump. I told you, she’s crazy. Peaches has her head into the fucking mystic bullcrap, star signs and all that shit. She came at me because of my birthday and our name. I wasn’t even checking for her ass and I never once even fucked the chick, bro. Word is bond on that.”
I nodded my head. “Yeah. I know you didn’t. You wouldn’t lie about that but are you planning on fucking with her at all or are you just planning on avoiding her? O. Give me the truth brother.”
Omarion sighed. “I plan on getting on with my life and avoiding Peaches, Cooper and his brats for as long as I’m alive. There is nothing between me and Peaches. She’s just a crazy executive with a weird hobby of trying to predict destiny by looking at random stars in the fucking sky. Confronting her or telling her to fuck off is what got me put in The Pin and ended my career in the private security forces. Nothing left for me to do now is go back to the beginning or try to design my own profession in the Underground Trades. I had some time to think about what I’m going to do with my life.”
I sighed. This was going to be complicated but fuck it. “Alright. I’m down with you bro. Where do you want to start?”
Omarion smiled. “It’s getting late. I think we’ll reach the red district by 8pm. Despite all this bullshit I’m feeling lucky. Neon Station should be a great spot to start.”
