XO “The Glassgo Job” Episode 6

I waited not seeing my ride any where. I wondered about it. I heard man’s heavy foot steps behind. But, I didn’t hear the sound of a blaster being charged up to fire on me. I wondered about that.

“You caused a very big stirr tonight. Mr. Mystery. For what? A trinket in a safe? You missed the gold cards.” Glassgo said behind me.

The hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I gripped the railing for support.

“I didn’t mess anything your Majesty? I took what I came here for. I’m not a greedy man or stupid enough to test my luck with you seeing how easy you made it for me to get into your penthouse. Hmm.”

“What gave me away?” Glassgo asked.

“You haven’t killed me yet. I wonder why?” I said.

“No no. That wasn’t it. Ask a better question. I’ll wait.” Glassgo countered.

“Why let that asshole around your princess? That makes no sense at all. Were you testing him or her? That didn’t sit well with my thinking for how Kings operate in regards to females that belong to their pack. After that. Nothing was right at all about this job to my taste.”

“Finley has been overstepping his boundaries of late and his sudden interest in my daughter has become annoying. Your arrival and whatever you said to her was impressive and got the ball rolling toward me removing him from my daughter’s life. It was very impressive. Would you prefer to be thrown down the stairs or combat ritual killing. Your employers can get the Data drive off your dead body of course. Your pack will receive their payment for the job.”

I laughed. “You are a funny charecter your Majesty. No. I prefer to handle things my own way. Good night to you.” I said before I dove off the side and did a dead man fall to the city street.

I smiled feeling the rush and my heart racing. I started to close my eyes until I saw a black hover cabbie racing up toward me with the passenger door open.

When it got close enough I grabbed a hold on the safety handle inside and pulled myself into the cabbie as the door slid closed and I heard Eddie Williams singing his new song Rage against the Machine Empire on Valkrie’s speaker system.

“Your late.” I said staring at the back dark hair of my partner/sister.

“I had a date with a pretty red head for ten minutes. She couldn’t get enough of me.” Valkrie said with arrogant tone in her voice. “I was listening though to the last bit of the conversation you had with Glassgo. What are we going to do about getting paid?”

“Sell the drive back to the client at double the price or to their competitors. They left out details and tried to do a double cross that’s written in our contract with them in case they decided to play games. Give me my computer?”

Valkrie snorted loudly and slipped me my laptop from the front seat of the cabbie. “I can’t believe you snuck that by them in the contract.”

I smiled. “It pays high dividends to have an ex-contractual writer in your business, sister. Alright. Time to do some research.”

“On clients to sell the data drive?”

I shook my head. “I already have a list of them. Give me a second.” I said searching for the image in of the painting on the virtual cyberspace I found it. It was a map to a location. “What are you keeping in that location I wonder Mr. Glassgo?”

“Xander. You sure it’s a good idea to tango with this Glassgo guy? You said we were in this business for the money and nothing personal.” She reminded me.

I thought about it. I shrugged and closed the search to log onto the black market for another runner job. “Okay. I got a ten minute job in seven hours. Your taking lead. You game?”

“You know it bro. I’m on it.”
