Peaches

I watched from position as Cooper reeducated my sons on sailing over the Outlands sand dunes. It was pleasant mid day morning with strange cool breeze in the air.
I felt happy.
I felt the rush of it and allowed myself a moment to let it show a little as I smiled at my pack and Master grinning at me while our sons fault to gain my attention of them.
I heard and felt something strange happening to my back I glanced behind me frowning as I saw a crack of lightning in the sky forming and quickly spreading into doorway. It was happening again. I could already see the invaders rushing out of the door way. Suddenly, I felt Cooper quickly at my side. He took me up in his arms and carried me away toward his large cruiser.
“Kane. Leave the damn boats and herd your brothers into the other cruiser. We’re leaving now. When I launch into the air you better have your brothers into the air. Let’s go!” He ordered rushing me toward his cruiser. The side door opened and he placed me inside sliding the door close and rushed toward the other side.
I watched as they started rushing out of the hole. Ice and frost wind came with them into the Outland desert. They were coming. War. The second Frost invasion war had begun. Kane and others were of age and I knew without thinking now all my children would be soldiers in the war for the dream realm.
“It’s going to be okay, baby. We’re all going to get back to the city in time. They won’t get you.” Cooper said.
I shook my head. “Damn it. Every time I allow myself to feel joy this shit keeps happening.”

Happiness is an elusive concept, as your story suggests. For some reason misery and dark feelings are easier to reach in life than buoyancy and joy. If there was a Creator to the Universe, one would suspect It of being sadistic and malevolent in intent.

Hmm. I would say if happiness is depended on outside forces then it is elusive to capture. In regards to misery she died at the end of that movie. I think of dark feelings as a man’s dominance. Dominance is fun dark energy.
