Experiment: Logan Jones (Nighttime study) Ch9

Logan couldn’t sleep and he was on edge about what was going to happen in a few hours. He waited until everyone in the sleeping courtiers had fallen asleep. When the time was right he crept out.

The guard at the door was sleep on his feet back leaning against the side of the door. He moved fast on quiet feet. He made his way by memory back the way into the castle up the flight of stairs they had come. He turned to the left and walked quickly toward the library. The castle was quiet. No one was around not that he expected servants to be up or a night watch guard. Logan knew the reason for this.

Logan finally found his way to the library. There seemed to be one man inside. The wizard sat behind a table of writing desk facing the door. A blue magical lamp illuminated his hand as he wrote in a book. Everywhere else was dark in the small library.

Logan noticed how quiet it was. Even when he walked inside he couldn’t hear his own foot steps. He felt eyes on him. Logan ignored the feeling and the possible pair of eyes watching him.

The wizard at the writing desk didn’t look up but Logan knew he noticed him. “I got a question and a favor to ask you?” He said.

The wizard shook his head. “No favors. What is your question?” He said.

“I need to become stronger. I need to read the books here so I can be ready after we leave to face the dark lord.” Logan said quietly.

The Wizard shook his head. “You have trainers. They are more then able too help you in your quest as a warrior. Besides the point the books here would be useless to you. You can’t read magic languages. I have not the months or years to teach you. Go.” He said.

“I can read magic just fine. I just need the means of time to study to improve on my technique. I just need an hour of study time here every night until I leave. That’s all I’m asking for.” Logan said.

The wizard looked up at him. “You can read magic?” He asked.

“Yes. I can.” Logan said.

“I am Weiss. You pick one book to study for tonight. You will not take any book or damage any books while you are here. Do you understand me?” He said.

“Yes Sir. I’ll follow your rules on it.” Logan said and started to move toward a bookshelf near him but Weiss held up a hand forestalling him. “What?! What is it?” He said.

“Wait. For a few moments please. I have to check something.” Weiss said but he didn’t move or rise up from his seat. He stared at Logan without blinking for several moments.

There was moment of silence. Logan felt something in that moment like a quiet magical energy pass through him and then nothing happened.

Weiss nodded his head and looked back down picking his writing pen and went back to his work. “Pick one book for tonight. An hour of reading is what you requested you will be granted nothing more. After you have finished the hour you will return back to your sleeping bed for the night.” He said not looking up and then he proceeded back into that strange silence totally ignoring Logan again.

Logan quietly proceeded to the bookshelf he had come to intentionally. He did make a show of brushing his fingers lightly over the books. He looked over the books shelved. Though he knew what book he wanted. He stopped his hand on that particular book and he pulled it out. An overhead magical lamp light turned on above his head. Logan made sure to keep the excitement from showing on his face.

”Get to your study. You must get your sleep for the busy night that is ahead of you.” Weiss said.

Logan nodded. “Yes. Sir.” He said and started to turn his body slightly away from Weiss’ vision. His heart hammered inside his chest. He looked again at the title of the book.

Introduction of magical weapon transmutation by Grand magi Edgar Hugo Styles.

Logan opened the book and a light emanated from it as Logan felt his skill activated. He flipped through the book’s pages until the end. He then turned back to first page and started reading slowly each page at a time. A smile played on his lips as he read through it for pleasure.

Weiss cleared his throat. Logan put the book back where he took it in the bookshelf. He turned back to Weiss who was up and looking at him.

“I’ll be heading back to the slave sleeping room.” He said.

Weiss held up a hand. “Did you finish reading the book?” He asked.

Logan smiled. “I need a little a couple of more nights until I can understand what I read.” He said with a sheepish grin.

Weiss nodded. “You are honest learner. Four weeks should be enough. I will send you back.” He said and waved his hand and suddenly Logan was facing his bed.

Logan took off his boots got into bed and fell sleep the moment his head fell on his pillow.

Audiobook review of the Feed the Bear by Owen Benjamin….it’s alright.

The audiobook quality is more in keeping with a podcast with a okay sounding microphone and pretty straight forward book about Benjamin’s thoughts on the structure and the engineering of comedy. Benjamin expresses his first experiences in the art in his early twenties to his thoughts on how the process of comedy and the formation of joke work. He began to start having to start figuring out the structure of comedy and how it worked. He gives examples of types of comedy he uses and examples of effect comedy from his own past comedy specials. In general all the information in the package of the audiobook can be found in his old podcast videos you can find online on Bitchute.com or other Video sharing sites or on his website called Unauthorized.tv

The book was a little disappointing as a writer in the structure of a book. It’s little more then a podcast masking itself as a audiobook. It’s a pet peeve and a minor one but it doesn’t sound like a audiobook or is structured as such. It doesn’t take away from the entertainment and information mixed into the product.

I’m writing this review simple because I couldn’t find a fucking review on it and that fucked with me for reasons I have no idea about. So fuck it.

I also had other reasons. I’m a bard of dark comedy and I’m always willing to learn from people who have mastered the art and performance. I got the audiobook to learn about his thought process and maybe glen from in depth meaning on comedy from a veteran in the art and science of comedy. Also to do a review on the book in case anyone was interested in how jokes are designed and what makes something funny both from a laughter sense and from a structurally sound sense.

Owen Benjamin is a legit funny comedian and a master in the art of observational comedy. I even laughed at some of the bits I heard in the audiobook though I have heard a lot of his comedy bits before.

I recommend you sub to Unauthorized.tv for his podcasts or where ever you can find his content.

Money talk: The Richest man in Babylon

Just finished listening to the book and I have thoughts. I highly recommend the book for ages 10-40. Overall a good book and helpful in teaching basic financial discipline and budget mindset.

I got to this book late and some of the principles I have learned by experience or observations of highly effective productive people.

My favorite chapter is the luckiest man in babylon.

The jest of the book is parables of stories to illustrate how to grow, maintain and advance yourself in wealth.

The takeaways. I have two.

1.”Where the determination is the way can be found.”

It is not enough to desire to have shit or cash. You have to have a determination. A will of Iron that there is no other way but to push forward and defeat or win over the enemy before you. Debt. Procrastination. Lack of Motivation.

Only when you have a determination then can be open to seeing a way or solution to defeating overcoming the challenges of gaining wealth or fearing yourself from slave mindset or en debted slavery.

Every man has to make a determination on what type of man they are. A slave or a free man. What class do you fit in?

2. Luck is found or created when you learn to enjoy working and mastering a skill.

Lady lucky does exist. She just only pays attention to a dude who enjoys putting in long hours into perfecting his craft and getting the bag.

When you make working your friend lady luck comes looking for you. Opportunities come looking for you and wealth is a by product of a determination to use work as a means to rise a step above the rest.

The principles of wealth are old and simple. It isn’t at a dice roll or at a gambling table. It’s 40 hrs a week at the day job, four hours a day at the side hustle and two hours a day studying your craft and pushing yourself to get to the top so that you can get two weeks at the beach with your girl and not worry about whether or not the bills will get paid.

The phantom: Legazy & The Law (book nerd shit)

I rock with the phantom my dude. Purple jump suit and 1911s at his sides my dude. I just got a recent graphic novel that is a two book combo in one.

Legazy is mixture of stylish art with a depiction of a story I love dearly. The script and poetic pose of the character telling the story is delious poetry for the lyrical junky and for the bard’s soul it’s rich in song and rhythm.

True magical storytelling.

The story is classic and original. One man dawning his own destiny with a vow on the dead scowl of the bastard that killed his father cold. One man vows to take up the cause to fight piracy, greed, and injustice. On the sea sores of a beach of his destiny he vows and does craft is own true immortal destiny.

Real shit.

The second book The Law is a interesting tale. Told from the prospective of the phantom’s would be enemy.

Again, rich in poetry and melodies for the internal ear to hear. Delicious in creative pose and a nice change of pace for customed hero. A legend of timeless treasure.

I got it on the cheap surprisingly on Amazon. However, the quality of the printing makes me think it was previously owned by a knockoff version of a true book nerd.

It’s sown and heavyly glued. Sown quality is okay. The glue is the only thing holding the book together properly. Again for the price you get what you get. However if I had the means I would get it bound in cowhide leather and sown properly better.

Paycheck the short story (book nerd shit)

I read the short story back in my teens I think. This shit was ten plus years before Ben Affleck was fucking with J-Lo or whatever the hell name she goes by now.

I saw the movie. My review. BUY that shit but it ain’t as good as the story.

Facts.

Anyway, I read it in a collection of Phillip K Dick stories I got from the library.

Holy shit.

That shit was the shit. It dealt with time in a realistic way. Instead of traveling through time what if you could view events before they happened. But I didn’t know any of that shit from the start. The story unlike the movie puts you right at the point of the character waking up from finishing his job for a corporation years later no memory of what he did or what shit he got himself into and twelve items only to his name.

The mystery is uncovered as you and the main character discover what the hell happened and what the hell is going on.

I love that shit. Paycheck is one of the very few classic tales that doesn’t mind fuck you from the jump or slowly slips it in from the back.

The story embedded itself into my memory and mind. I can remember seeing the trailer for the movie on TV and knowing what the fuck it was and being excited as hell to see it on film.

It was good but fuck if only they could have done true to the story and let people figure out the shit on their own.

What I’ve been reading: Jack Forge Fleet Marine series “Action adventure science fiction”

Hello,

Fellow writers and lover’s of the written word. I hope you fair well in your writing projects throughout this year.

I’ve been reading the Jack Forge Fleet Marine series on Amazon. I bought the box set for a nice price of $0.99. You get a complete series of nine books all in one package with a nice preview of another series to come from the author.

I’ve read about two books so far and I’m currently on book 3 in the series so far I’m enjoying the series. It was a pleasant surprise buy for me knowing nothing about the author or series. I’m completely hocked though in the world and character of Jack Forge and the people in his world.

Short summary: Deep into the future humanity is at war with Alien bugs and the military is short of recruits. Jack Forge flunks out of university and is drafted into the Fleet Marines.

It has that scent of Starship troopers but without all the political preaching and class room time on the meaning of war. It’s all action with a taste of science fiction in the mix.

The character of Jack Forge…hm.

Jack Forge isn’t a alpha character type. He falls into two types of males. The Sigma type/ Delta type. In short, Jack is both the smart outsider and the dependable man called upon to get the job done at times but is dominant Sigma type. Here’s a quick reference: alpha game

I’ve only read two books in the series but I know I’ll be reading all of them easily. The books are parts of one whole story. The rise of Jack Forge’s position and how he is “forged” by his experiences and enemy. My suggestion is that you have to read them all together because they all fit as a long novel however, each part (book) is a complete fun story.
