“Oh I see what this is. I beat Ren in a sparing match and you let me know why the fuck I’m here. Bet.”
Azibo started to say something but I took off my jacket and walked over to the circle.
“Ren. Let’s get to it. Give me everything you got.”
The kid grinned and laughter was in his eyes. He grinned as elemental flames spring up from his body. He was ready to fight.

The conflict in the dirt circle is a manifestation of unequal power relations. The boy in the circle holds all the cards. He is practically magical. The white man who challenges him is dependent upon his wits more than anything else to get by this scrape. Also, he doesn’t want to hurt the boy but he has to do SOMETHING.
