Hello,
Fellow writers and lover’s of the written word. I hope you fair well in your writing projects throughout this year.
I’ve been reading the Jack Forge Fleet Marine series on Amazon. I bought the box set for a nice price of $0.99. You get a complete series of nine books all in one package with a nice preview of another series to come from the author.
I’ve read about two books so far and I’m currently on book 3 in the series so far I’m enjoying the series. It was a pleasant surprise buy for me knowing nothing about the author or series. I’m completely hocked though in the world and character of Jack Forge and the people in his world.
Short summary: Deep into the future humanity is at war with Alien bugs and the military is short of recruits. Jack Forge flunks out of university and is drafted into the Fleet Marines.
It has that scent of Starship troopers but without all the political preaching and class room time on the meaning of war. It’s all action with a taste of science fiction in the mix.
The character of Jack Forge…hm.
Jack Forge isn’t a alpha character type. He falls into two types of males. The Sigma type/ Delta type. In short, Jack is both the smart outsider and the dependable man called upon to get the job done at times but is dominant Sigma type. Here’s a quick reference: alpha game
I’ve only read two books in the series but I know I’ll be reading all of them easily. The books are parts of one whole story. The rise of Jack Forge’s position and how he is “forged” by his experiences and enemy. My suggestion is that you have to read them all together because they all fit as a long novel however, each part (book) is a complete fun story.
