How to become a 21st century dime novelist.

What is a 21st century dime novelist and why should you become one? Rated G

  1. You want to get paid for your work. You want earn something for your creative efforts.
  2. You can write at least 2k words a day and you have the ability to finish a story.
  3. You don’t give a damn about the love of the art. Your a business minded person. You are in it for the bag.

How to do it?

  1. Google is your friend by chatgpt is your lover that will give you the sources and companies to turn to.
  2. YouTube. If you can find an audience of people that enjoy a audiobook video or write a script for a content creator then you’ve got a audience and a bag.
  3. Plenty of sites online that will take on your work on their platforms and give a piece of the pie.
  4. Patreon. It’s a good site to build up your people that will grab on to your work and voice.
  5. Research people that make money from writing.

I believe in producing a product of art people value and will pay you for. I’m still a bard I love what I do but I’m also a capitalist. The market dictates the value of what you do.

Updates on James Potter Court of Owls book series!

The progress of my project has been a success for the most part. I have had set backs and failures along the way over the last four months as well.

133k words in total.

39.5k views

2 fans.

This is series that spans about five books currently with extensive themes in modern magic combat and old western feel of a lone gun man against army of monsters. Including themes of Isakai and time travel.

The book series is as follows:

1 James potter and the court of Owls. Finished

2. James Potter and the staff of the magi. Finshed.

3. James Potter and the duel of the dragons. Finished

4. James Potter and the heir to Merlin. Finished

5. James Potter and the Lady of the Lake. Ongoing

Books 1-4 set up the lore and backdrop for happens in book five. Book five is an explosive and very action heavy book that is the longest book so far. It started out as parody but has taken on a life of it’s own.

Failures are always editing and presentation. World building is rough but evolving as the story progression is leading to show down of epic gun smoke and magic spells.

Themes include:

Friendship and brotherhood.

Romance.

Action and adventure

Comedy. Drama.

The conclusion will take me a bit of time but it’s coming.

James Potter and The Court of Owls ebook

Well it’s done. Version 0.1

of the Court of Owls.

This is the completed work

This has been a learning experience. I’ve come to some conclusions about this site and what best to put up and what I will do going forward with this blog/website.

Long form content doesn’t work for this website. My short form stuff does well and I produce enjoyable podcast and audiobook stuff. It is what it is.

The plan

Very short stories 50%

Short audiobooks 40%

Writing tips 1% or less

The readership for James Potter and The Court of Owls on this website was a complete failure. So there is no reason to produce this type of content for this site. So now I have to figure out what readers want from this site and give it to me. That said, I have concluded I am better off writing about things or in genres people care about on other platforms.

Off this site I achieved my goals for writing the story and I will proceed to write more content on other websites and about subjects people care about.

Lords of Delta: Pete is finished and other projects.

I’ve finished up my Amazon Vella season 2 for the Lords of Delta: Pete.

Season third I’ll bring out for next year up then I might stop all production for working on Amazon Vella.

Pros: The stories are pretty good and the word count minimum for writing on the series has been helpful for gaining experience in straighting myself and thinking on ways to expand my stories.

My thoughts currently about Amazon Vella.

Cons: Not that much money in Amazon Vella if you don’t have enough written content on the platform.

Currently, I’m working on my third book for Legends of the Pack lands while also edit book 2 of the series I started this year and trying to figure out what content I will be putting on YouTube.

2023 projects

Drakescape Metropolis book 1

Lords of Delta: Pete completed

legends of the pack lands 1 and 2 finished

3 is ongoing.

Stories on the blog: R1TA 2.0

Ongoing: Astro Bros.

Yeah. A lot of work but it’s what I want to do and the stories are awesome. This year has been a very productive year.

Updates and books I’m working on

a woman walking on a desert to the giant horseman-shaped storm, digital art style, illustration painting

Aaron of the Sharo…is a man of mystery. Few know his humble beginnings or the origin of his legendary rise to power. On the last days of he recounts his begins, his trials, his set backs and his continuous internal flame to fight.

The book took me two and a half months to finish and it was a test run project I was working on to test out a new writing (Atticus app) program. The test was a good one and I ended up having a great bit of run. I’m planning on putting it on Ingram spark as and barns & noble within June 2023.

The app has it’s pros and cons still for me only works better on my computer and isn’t as helpful on my phone. I got a fun series out of the experience and I plan to get working with creating books with it.

For those interested. All my ebooks are on my patreon. I will also start doing video lesson for beginner intermediate writers looking to gain skills and confidence in writing and finishing their books.

A review of Atticus writing and formatting application

What is it?

A writing and formatting programing mainly used to format books onto many platforms for publication from paperback to digital books you can get off of Amazon or on your iPad. You can get it on PC, Apple computers. Whatever your flavor.

Why use it?

It’s an affordable option for publishers, both big time and Indie class at price range of $147 dollars you have a wide breath of options on what computer you use it on because you main works are saved onto the cloud service and you can back up your work on your own computer.

How does it run?

I’ve tested the computer out for a few days sense I got it last week. My first impressions wasn’t good. There is a learning curve to operating it but if your patient and dig into the program there is a lot to use for a seasoned writer/publisher. I did buy this program for the option of being able to edit and write on it using my Android phone. The experience so far with using it on my phone is subpar if that. I would suggest simple using it on your computer. It’s just not at the moment optimized for Android. I don’t know about about Iphones or apple computers so I can’t give my opinion how Atticus works on those platforms so I will save my judgement on that.

The formatting option for eBooks has exceeded my expectations. It’s definitely a time and money saver for eBook production and formatting options. It’s worth it for this alone.

Pros:

The price $147

The formatting options.

Built in writing scheduling word count for long and short projects

Speed run timer for writing sprints.

Cons:

It isn’t properly formatted for Android. The app sucks.

There is a learning curve. Requires patience.

In closing……

Would I recommend Atticus?

Yes. Absolutely. It is well worth the bargain price and the many usefull functions it provides for completing projects at a timely rate and getting work done on time.

Last story finished for the year….Lords of Delta: Vince

Yep so I finished LORDS OF DELTA: Vince and obey was it a hell of a ending….

This is probably the most unlikely story I finished this year that I found myself stuck for several days and a month in and change trying to figure out an ending for this story but I figured it out when I finally got day when I wasn’t working to figure it out and hammer out a ending to it but it was well worth the wait and I’ve finally started on book 2 of the series.

What did I learn?

I need to plan out my days more and again work on finishing one project at time. I got jammed up just thinking on an ending for the story and all I really needed was to stop stressing about it and take a full day to write it out.

I also learned that wrapping up a story and calling the ending back to the beginning is worth the effort, thinking and planning to get it done right.

How would I rate the story?

Fun time with a friend.

How would I rate the main character?

Like able, strange and fun.

How would I rate the ending?

Fucking Ten rockets in shooting up in the sky.

I can’t wait start working on my next one.

Drakescape Metropolis Book 1….

So I finished my first draft for November kiss. I’m not done by a long shot but I’ve finished my book. I got the cover, map and glossary done just a few more touches to do but I’m happy with the progress I’ve made and I will do once it’s done.

I’m aiming for a hundred sixty to two-hundred pages. I will improve my book as my next published book.

Blue Technomancer coming in June…

Blue Technomancer

Beau Lucas had it all.

The charm, the looks, the mind, the hot girl and the skills of a true sniper elite in the special forces. All that went to shit in a single blazing hellish day when a giant flaming monster dropped down on him on the day of his proposal and changed his life and destiny forever. He awoke to the dawn of a new day in human history in a broken body mired in blood, steel and strange new elemental powers.

I’m putting it on Amazon Vella. Already have seven episodes down for the first half of the season 1 and already working season 2

Story takes place in New York City during the first events of the alien landing on the city in the book Blue Jumper. It’s a gritty action heavy story with a main character that is believable and you can connect to that kicks ass and you want to truly succeed in spite of the madness he has to contend with in the new world he has awoken up in.

Warm regards

P. S.

The Amazon vella app has improved.
