I accidentally started working on a Anthology and I’m loving it and NNWM planning

I’ve noted in previous posts that I’ve been writing a lot lately. The whole experience has been a journey of rediscovery about my writing pace. I’m hammering out short stories like crazy and working on a series of stories compiling them into a Anthology for no particular reason. I think I’ll put out a Anthology next year but don’t hold me to that I’m still analyzing if I can keep up the pace. Anyway, I was doing the Anthology as a means of keeping the stories locked in one document because they’re all related to one another in genre and I’m finding myself finishing and jumping between each story as the ideas come to me. My writing pace is getting to be pretty speedy when I’m writing short stories. Not bragging I’m just surprised though it has made me realize how fast my writing pace could be when I’m writing in short story format of thinking.

I am not a novelist

nor do I want to be now

however I’m still in the NNWM  mindset but I think I’ll have to cheat a little.

I’ll have to organize the book in sections Three separate books in a similar Anthology style some what.

Beginning  – Book 1 Morning (naïve) Adventure begins 10 to 20 chapters

Middle  –      Book 2 Night (Conning) Discovery of the dragon 10- 20 chapters

End      –       Book  3 Dawn (Wise) Conquering of the dragon 10-13 chapters

  • Note: The names reflect the character as he/she works through their life struggles. There are no dragons in the story I’m doing. It’s a traditional hero’s journey of sorts.

I’ll work the page count to about 50,000 plus words though I’ll maybe add on more if I can write at a fast pace. Now I’ll have to figure out what format will I go for. Hmm. Now that’s the tough one. First or third person. Decisions. Decisions. I might do both. I’ll keep you posted.

It’s true. It’s true. It’s so true. Everyone needs a little poetry in their writing

Yes,

It’s true. Everyone needs a little poetry in their lives especially still for some good writing to take place.

I like writing and hope you do too. I especially love great poetry whether in fiction or nonfiction I like all the same my friend. A treasure trove of delight for the mind. Tell me if you’ve been in this moment.

You’re reading a biography about a memorable time in history, a autographical book or fictional fantasy and your eyes land on a sentence that just makes you smile or laugh out loud at the blunt truth or stark honesty.

A minor example of sorts:

“I knew what I was doing was wrong but I honestly say it wasn’t the devil talking to me that night Jack Daniels sang me to my doom and a pair of size D breasts didn’t help matters. My divorce that followed was a confirmation. But what can I tell you, I was a practicing alcoholic and a veteran idiot at the time and it seemed like a good idea to celebrate my first best-seller with a drink at my publisher’s house. It was just bad luck her husband wasn’t there at the time and she was almost a clone of my cheer leader Highschool sweet heart that rejected me for my baby brother.”

Fiction or otherwise it happens. It just rings of a poetic blunt comedy of our modern western republic times.

The Realist

Hello,

It’s bean a while yet. I wish I could say I was off rescuing the world with colorful whit and charm but I like to keep it real with a spot of humor..

I’m been in that moody black place of depression, self doubt and self loathing. I’ve been writing consistently but in a more therapeutic way. I’ve been writing to get out unwanted feelings and trying out styles I normally wouldn’t craft and I’ve been working on my professional side projects that will actually see the light of day.

  • In short: I’ve been writing angry fiction and whole lot of bucket full of raw dark comedy/action stuff with a mixture of were-wolves and 45. hand guns.

I still don’t know if I will finish everything on time before November’s kiss welcomes me with the muse of creative energy to do what I haven’t done before.

  • Don’t mean me I’m just straighten out my poetic fingers.

But, I’ll give it a shot. Enough about me let’s talk about writing or more to the effect you and writing.

Writing is a interesting exercise in creative freedom and expression and the wonderful opportunity to cut away all the blinders of how life should be and relating to the world how it is.

What am I talking about?

When you’ve been writing long enough there will come a time (If your patient) that you’ll finally get past lying about the nature of reality in regards to human interaction and telling the truth. That’s real fiction my friend.

No.

Correction.

That’s real art. Truth that punches you in the face and is relatable to someone whose felt that way and he/she is comforted. When they (the reader) can read a story that relates to that reality back to them the truth that someone out in the world understands them and their desires.

We all want to get there. To that place were the words connect to the truth and it’s not happenstance or luck of a mystical muse fairy. When your asked about it you can say with a little bit of earned pride. “No. I said it and I meant every word of it. If you felt something from good for you but it was fun writing every word and terror to my soul to admit it.

Writing space..for the month of November

November writer’s month is almost upon us and I’m excited as ever and I’m weirded out by how busy the month is going to be for me. I plan to write not only a book but publish another and finish formatting on my up and coming Life Of A Prince part 2. Truth be told this year has been challenging for me in staying focused enough to keep in that writing zone.

  • Writing Zone: That mode of being in a complete focus on writing with no breaks on. You’re just enjoying the free flow of ideas as they come.

Writing in and of itself has been a breeze. Stress and murning only seems to produce  mental energy and reason to dive down in to my own worlds in my mind. But, the environment where I’ve written dozens of stories before is not as condussive as it once was. I find myself lost In either daily chores, daily work and time eating hobbies.

In a word, I find to many distractions at home so I need a writing space. Now you might be asking “So what’s the big deal? You need a writing space. Why write a blog post about it?”

Well, I’ve never needed one before. I find it a strange enigma. I’ve always found it very much so I’m the past. Times change. I guess I have to many western modern day distractions.

In any event, I’ve found it of the utter most importance to find a space to myself away from modern day comfortable addictions.  I enjoy being a writer because I enjoy writing but also I want to continue to be a writer and I’ve found it all to easy to let comfort or sorrow get in the way of writing.

For my personal taste Libraries are fun places to write and even among a crowd of people I find the steady hum of computers and low conversations a white noisy I find lovely to the ears.

NaNoWriMo is a weird name for November’s writing month

Yep! I’m getting ready for writing month. I don’t know if I’ll join the NaNoWriMo website but I’m going for it.

I’ve got an outline of a story I’m not particularly willing to write because it’s straight twist for me and it’s pretty dark but there is message to it and it will push me to become a better writer. I’m not planning on blogging any of it. First drafts suck and they need a lot of work before they can be seen and called anything remotely decent. At least mean do.  I don’t know about you.  I’m just going for the challenge of it and maybe a little fun.

If you want to join me or compete against yourself here’s a link to help you about the tools and goals to set.

I’m still in the planning process and I’m also working on a screenplay for Life with a Prince. Long story. It’s going pretty good but I’ll have to finish it soon before the months out or pick it up in December. I don’t know. I’m having a lot of fun with it though.

I’m in love with words..

I’ve written 10k words on this blog and I’ve enjoyed writing posts on this blog more then any other blogs I’ve had in the past.

Writing is time consuming work. It’s particular work that takes time energy and effort but if you like it you can find yourself drawn into for hours in the practice and the study of those that do it well in the past. I’m currently stuck in the Sherlock Holmes world of stories.

I enjoy the words. The settings and words. Oh the words. The out dated words the words that grandfather words of the current evolution of my own off shoot English American language.

Oh and the Federalist papers. My God. It’s like a bank of words sawn together with liberating meaning.  I read the Federalist papers every once in a while like one would take in the study of fine art of classical style.

Hmm. Yeah. Just reading my own thoughts of the beautiful depth of Sherlock Holmes and The Federalist papers in script seems a bit crazy but what can I say I’m writer but I love reading the most of all. May be you can say the same.
