Documents a warobe change

“Damnnation. All this fucking paper work. I already gave my word I’d take the boy on.” Lord Skylark said heatedly as he sat down and signed the adoption papers of custody of Styx.

Brandon nodded. “I know. I know but you know the law and all. Are you married?”

Lord Styx sighed and nodded. “Yes. I am sadly. I am expecting my first child though in three months or sooner.”

Brandon and Styx shared a look at the six months or sooner comment. But, neither said anything to it.

Lord Skylark finished the signing and came to his feet waving Styx to follow him. “Let’s go little brother. We got to make a go of it. You know.” He said turning to the door.

Styx caught Brandon cover his mouth to keep from laughing. Styx frowned looking at Lord Skylark’s back. “Your hiding something.”

Both Lord Skylark and Brandon stared at him. My father looked at Brandon with suspicious intent.

“I thought you said he was a black.” Lord Skylark said.

“I would thank you, My Lord to speak to me if you’ve got a question to ask.” Styx said.

Lord Skylark shrugged. “Are you using magick on my mind or are you using magic to see into the near future? Either way the Blacks or Shades aren’t known for that kind of magic in your kind.”

Styx glowered at my father looking down his nose at him as if he was a high Lord of the first order. “You have a tell. You didn’t look at me directly when you spoke and your fake Lordly accent slipped a bit at the end. Also Brandon knows something is wrong with you.. What the hell are you afraid of outside that door?”

Brandon laughed his ass-off. “Snarking hell. Boy oh yo has a right quick mind. Reminds me of someone.”

Lord Skylark stared Styx. “Are you a half elf.”

“I’m not a black or elf. I’m a Shade.” Styx said.

Lord Skylark nodded. “Styx Shade. I get that part. But, be honest or I’ll leave you here. Your no more fully Elf or Shade as I am neither fully human or fully Elf.”

Styx shrugged and made a motion with his right hand over his heart. “It is like you said. I’m Styx Shade. Everything else doesn’t matter. I don’t answer to anything else but my own name. Lord Ethan Skylark.”

Lord Skylark saw the motion Styx had done and knew the reason for it. “Agreed.  But, no lies from here on out. We’re family now. As strange as that might be a contradiction-“

“You keep your end. I’ll keep mean. Momma Jinn taught the way of things.” Styx said.

Lord Skylark blinked and nodded his head. “Excellent. So let’s go.” He headed to the door and opened it walking out while Brandon led Styx out.

Styx hand a over his eyes and one hand on Brandon’s bulky forearm.

Lord Skylark frowned waiting outside on the steps for Styx and Brandon to come out with Styx sharing a few words between each other about Momma Finn, Lord Skylark and Mr. Carter. Styx did more listening then any talk.

“What are two doing?” Lord Skylark said stiffly.

Brandon stared at him. “Ethan. He’s day blind. Get your ass over here and help him down to your car.”

Lord Skylark frowned. “Bloody hell. How the-“

“I told you I have cursed eyes damn it. I just need a decent pair of nightshade goggles to see in the day. I’m good to work for you. I’m good. I’ll keep my part to you. I said I would. I will.” Styx said.

Lord Skylark sighed coming up the stairs and laid Styx hand on his forearm. “Let’s go. I’ll get you your goggles and a fresh new suit as well for your raising station in life.” He said opening the door to the limousine for Styx. Styx got inside sliding in as Lord Skylark joined him and closed the door.

“What the fuck is this? You were told to get an apprentice not a mutant elf.”

Styx opened his eyes in the dark limousine to stare at the ebony skinned beauty with long flowing platinum down the back of her Scarlett silk dress. Her eyes were dark and studying Styx in disgust. He looked at her pronounced  pointy ears and tried to get out of the car.

Lord Skylark grabbed his arms. “What the fuck is-“

Styx turned to him. “You knocked up her up didn’t you? Damn nation. Damn it to hell Ethan. You had to knock up a fucking dark heart. A fucking magick kind. She warned you against this. She fucking told what they do to us when we fuck with them.. We always end up dead. Are you mad? Are you crazy?!” He said.

“Excuse me. What the hell is he saying?” The female said in annoyed voice.

Lord Skylark grimanced. “Damn it. Momma Finn taught you everything and told you to many scary stories. She isn’t going to kill me or you. We have an agreement. She’s having my kid. Elfs are kin on their word and agreements. I’ll do right by you. You’ll keep your end up. Right?” He said

Styx stared at him. “Damn nation. You have gone mad.”

“What the hell is going on?”

Styxx Shade chronicles: Resident of door 15

So far Lord Skylark and Brandon had run through several applications for the  position of apprenticeship with Lord Skylark, my father had turned them all down.

Brandon tapped his finger on bulky nose as they stopped at door number 15. It was half open and Lord Skylark could peek inside to see a single 6’2 tall young man in a standard uniform brown of slacks, a clean white shirt sitting at a finally made table in sturdy head down over a book. One of several books scattered around the room.

Lord Skylark knocked on the door. The young man looked up with sharp silver blue eyes, a thin long nose and handsomely set expression on his face. He study Lord Skylark in mild interest.

“Please. Enter my Lord.” He said in a cultured speech and confidence that belayed his surroundings and dress.

My father liked the young man right away and found him interesting and a right fit. His mind had been made up on  him. “The name’s Lord Ethan Skylark. What’s your name lad?” He said walking in offering his hand to the young man.

Brandon was silent but Lord Skylark could tell by his friend straightening up and grinning that he approved of his interest in the young man as a apprentice. The young man rose to his feet standing two inches taller then my father and took his hand.

“Luke Carter. It is a pleasure to meet you, Sir. I’m looking forward to serving as your apprentice.”

Lord Skylark studied Mr. Carter closely. He smelled it on the young man. A scent of lavender and smoke.”Rabbits don’t jump. They spring don’t you think?”

Luke Carter blinked. “What?”

“Rabbits. They don’t jump. They spring around and move with a lightness to their feet.” Lord Skylark said.

Luke frowned. “Ah. I don’t follow you. Are you playing a game? Is this a test?” He said.

“I have money to give or a game of whits and challenge. Danger. Life at risk. A gamble. Do you want the money or the risk of your life for elders of mystery.”

“I want sponsorship. I’ll take my own risks.” Luke said quickly and squeezed my father’s hand.

Lord Skylark smiled. “I like you. I like you a lot. I’ll give you twenty-five pounds of gold a month. It’s an investment not a sponsorship. I want you to look after my boy when he comes on his own. I’ll tell him not to fuck with you for his entire career. What you say?”

Mr. Carter smiled. “It doesn’t work on you? But your willing to deal with me still. Why? I’m a nobody.” He said and let go of my father’s hand.

My father laughed. “You’ll do well lad. Trust me. I would rather not have you as an enemy against me or my boy. I have too many enemies now. I could always use a friend or two or someone to invest in. My word is my bond in business.” He said and withdrew a purse of gold and handed to Mr. Carter.

Mr. Carter nodded. “Thank you Sir. If you keep your word then I will honor my word.”

Lord Skylark nodded. “Indeed. Your word will be valuable in your business. Oh. Could you be a good chap and release my brother from your charms?”

Mr. Carter snapped his fingers and Brandon came awake smiling looking between them. “Are you two getting on well?”

My father smiled nodding. “Yep. I like Mr. Carter. I’ll be sponsoring him. No. No. He’s to smart for our profession big brother. He’s going to be a business man. I’ll see to that. Let’s get on. Show me to the next young Lad. I really want see who else is on the list. You have a lot of interesting people here?” He said turning Brandon around and leaving out the door.

Brandon frowned at Lord Skylark. “What’s all this about? The Lad is a smart one. Best Lad here.”

Lord Skylark shrugged. “I didn’t deny it. But, young Carter is not fit for the small time like us. He’s got high promise. I’m sponsoring him. You should be happy.”

Brandon grimanced but nodded. “Alright. Alright. We have one last person on the list. A Mr. John Smith. A young Shade.”

My father grimanced. “A black. Ugh. I didn’t know we we’re taking them into the spy order now.”

Brandon rolled his eyes. “Snark your fucking jokes. It’s not like you can judge. Your a half elf blood. Stop your bullshitting and take a look at this boy.”

Four swords of Katie Holmes Chapter 17 Diamond

I reclined in bed next to my girl while she delt out the cards in bed between us. Twila’s breasts where un covered as she smoked her thin cigar and frowned in concentration.

“There. Let’s play.” Twilla said smoothly picking up her five cards.

I took up my four cards and studied my hand. I wasn’t surprised by the arrangement. It was what I could expect from Twilla when we played the game.

A modified Ace of clubs with the sword and cross symbol on the card, King of Hearts, 10 of Diamonds and a wild joker. It was a image of family.” I said and put down the 10 of diamonds.

Twilla put down a card. It was a Jack of Diamonds. “Hmm. Interesting. He’s your match up. The one coming for you to take your crown to your sword.”

“He hasn’t come at me yet. Why?”

Twilla shrugged. “Don’t know. I don’t see the future just patterns. Next card.”

I put down the Ace of Spades. “Whose coming for him?”

Twilla put down a Ace of Diamonds. “He’s looking to trade up. He had a lot distractions for his rival.” Shee said softly. “He’s calling you in a bit.”

I put down the King of Hearts. “The man after Heart already attacked him twice. The day Momma died and making his woman leave. What diamond is he?”

Twilla smiled. “You get the pattern.” She said and put down the King of Diamonds.

“Shit.” I said. “Their all from the same family. Wait.” I said and put down the Joker. “Whoses left?”

Twilla put down the second Joker on the bed. She leaned back shuffling the rest of the cards in her hand. “Hmm. I have no idea what the fuck this person is. Becareful. I think this person is insane.”

Damn. I looked at her as she played with the cards. “The Deltas. What can you tell me about them?”

Twilla frowned and then put four cards down before setting the cards down. She laid a card below two cards and set two cards to the side.

I pointed at the two cards. “Who are these?”

Twilla smiled. “Vince and his lady.” She said.

I turned them over. It was A king and Queen of Spades. “I didn’t know Vince was married.”

Twilla giggled. “Neither does he, yet. No. I’m not seeing the future. He’s betrothed.”

I snorted and turned over the other cards and froze. The regular Ace of Spades and the King of Spades. Hmm. “So Vince isn’t the strongest of the family? It’s his brother Pete?”

Twilla shrugged. “Try not to think of it in terms of strongest. What is different about their cards and yours. What do you notice?” She asked.

I noticed it quickly. “The Deltas are of the same suit. They’re high rated and their united. What does that say about my brothers and I? There’s nothing the same about me and my brothers. How the fuck are we going to win?

Twilla stared at me. She turned over my cards. The sword and cross symbol was on the back of them. I frowned. I took the other cards they were all ordinary red back designs.

I whistled. “Shit. It’s scary how you do that girl. You coming back to my place.”

Twilla grinned. “You mean your room at your Momma’s house.”

I shrugged. “Yeah. So your staying with me?”

“I’m staying with you. Answer your phone.”

I frowned and then it rang on the nightstand to my right. I rolled my eyes at her as I picked it up.

Four swords of Katie Holmes Chapter 16 Ace

I watched Xenia dress Heart in his old Pj’s. There was a moment. “Why did you leave like that?” I asked her pointedly.

Xenia stiffened at the tone of my voice. She stared at Heart’s face as she pet his face. “I lost my mind. I couldn’t think straight. I don’t know. Tracy said something that reminded me that I was supposed to take Momma out that day. I felt like shit and-“

“Who the fuck is Tracy?” I asked.

Xenia frowned. “Joe’s newest girl. He was with her when Zadok called the house about Heart and….and about what happened.”

I frowned and glanced at Stacy at the open door way. She frowned reading my thoughts. I nodded to Xenia. Stacy nodded coming in the room and giving me a kiss before she sat with Xenia.

Xenia looked at Stacy and then her ring hand and turned her gaze to Heart. I left the room to hunt up for Joe. I had words to have with him and I needed to know who and where I could find this Tracy. I had a hunch.

I spotted Joe talking with a cute shorty dressed in a black dress standing outside. Rita was standing behind him angled away from the girl. I studied the girl. She seemed normal enough but something about her put me off. I got out my phone and snapped two photos of her and put my phone away. I walked out.

The girl spotted me. Giving me a look before fixing her face into a cute innocent smile. She had purple lipstick and matching contact lenses. Hmm. Yeah. I would have to move quick and isolate her.

I looked at Joe. He was studying me. I smiled to put him at ease. “So whose your friend, fam. Introduce me.” I said adding charm and light hearted ease into my tone.

Joe blinked. “Oh. This my friend, Tracy Angles. Tracy this is my bro Ace Holmes.”

“Oh I’m your friend now? Who is this girl then-:

“-my tribe. Don’t start the bullshit Tra. I told you already. Relax.”

“Relax?! I ain’t believing your bullshit. Your fucking this girl. I ain’t-“

“You need to leave. Now.” I said feeling tension and rage at the sound of her voice and energy. Yeah. I would have to deal with her tonight.

She turned to me hitting me with something a combination of exotic and rage. My symbol burned against my chest. I was able to keep my cool and think. Even though I had a massive hard on in my pants.

I grabbed her shoulders turned her around and gave her slap on the ass to give her a running start out of my presense. I waited until she was out of sight before I turned to Joe. He was more surprised then anger at me handle the girl. Good.

“I don’t like her and I want to deal with her type around the family right with Heart sick and the court case coming up. Dump her. You get me?”

Joe nodded. “Yeah. I was getting tired of her lately. I’ll keep her away from the family.” He said and turned to the house taking Rita’s hand and leading the way inside.

I followed him inside sending the photos to Zadok and Vince Detla.

-on it. – Vince

– I got you. – Zadok

I would update Diamond in a few when I got more information.

The chronicler’s notes on Lord Shade’s rise

June 9th, 1865
The 2nd age, Edo’s dawn

What is the essence of the man? No. That sounds stupid. My father said it best in this fashion.

“If I had one fault regarding Styx is the man being to damn clingy with the few friends he has and to damn steam cycle mad.” – Lord Ethan Skylark, May 6th, 1863.

My father meant of course that Lord Shade didn’t engage in the sport of wrenching and gambling as a past time as my father had occasion to do.

Lord Shade has always been a man of proticular tastes. Sense his youth he prefers beer, horses and stream cycle racing. Most importantly he has always preferred the company of a select few chosen intimates of a small circle. The exclusion of whores being his chief concern. Not from a moralistic point of view but a more practical sense. Lord Shade has little trust for people outside his circle.

Lady Shade said it as follows..
“Styx has never encountered a whore that hasn’t tried to remove his natural endowment or been a chief element in him almost losing his life.”

Now…We come to a brief account from Lord Ethan Skylark on meeting, trainning and the first cases my father and Lord Shade went on. I will tell their tales leaving no detail out as I have seen it but for certain events of private information of clients still in Lord Shade’s books.

Now. Their meeting began some eighteen years ago in a private club of Lords at the tail end of a poker game my father was losing….on purpose.

To be continued…

four swords of Katie Holmes Chapter 15 Joe

We rolled out the van as the Amazon bitch picked up Heart and carried him to the house. Ace got in her way first.

“What the fuck are you doing?” Ace said.

“He’s need to sleep asshole. He’s been up for almost seventy-two hours straight and his body has been cursed. He needs to sleep for at least twelve hours, now open the fucking door.” She said shoving past him.

Ace cursed and hurried to open the door while the bitch carried him inside. What the fuck was this? The bitch carried Heart open stairs to his room and placed him on his bed. She took off her suit jacket and started undressing Heart’s body.

“He slept when Ace came and then he just had nap when we gave him the refined water. Your-“

The bitch just waved her hand at me. “Shut the fuck up. I don’t want to hear it. You should have gotten him to wash up and change his clothes. He hasn’t been asleep for more then twelve hours straight. Taking a nap here and there isn’t enough. He still needs to heal and rest his mind.” She said and paused to look at me.

“I couldn’t handle it. It was Momma’s birthday and I forgot to take her out like I promised and all I could do is cry. We don’t even have a fucking body to bury. Your a tough asshole. Nothing can shake you. I’ll grant you that. I’m a woman. I’m sorry I failed your big dick test.”

“Fuck you bitch. I didn’t tell you to leave. He needed you. You left us when it counted. Fuck you and get the hell out.” I said barking at her.

The bitch grimanced but shook her head. “I’m not going anywhere. It will take time to find out what curse whoever put on him and then I have to see if they feed him poison as well. I’m staying. So get the fuck over yourself. I’m his wife. I have to take care of him. I fucked up either forgive me or accept I’m not going anywhere. I need a basin, sponge and hot water to clean him up. I left my medic bag in my car. I need it.” She said and turned away from us to undressing Heart in bed.

Ace turned to me. “Go get her bag. She’s staying.”

“What?”

Ace stared at me. “Heart needs medical and spiritual help. If she’s going to stay here and help in that I don’t care for what reason. We’ll use her for that alone and nothing more.” He said and turned to Xenia. “You proved that aren’t strong enough to be in this family. I ain’t forgiving shit. You want to stay and take care of your husband that’s what you’re supposed to do. It isn’t the same anymore with us. Don’t involve yourself or opinion in my family business and I don’t want to hear that opinion coming from Heart’s lips. You following me?”

Xenia nodded. “I’ll keep out of your way. I just want to take care of my husband.” She said.

Diamond sighed and walked out. I followed him. “Diamond. Bro. We can’t-“

“Go get her medical bag from the damn car. I’m going to go see a friend.” He said heading out the door. I followed him out to the car.

“Your going to get some ass. We need to talk Ace into getting this bitch out here.”

Diamond ignored me and went to the car opened the passenger door and got her bulky black bag. He shoved it into my arms. “It’s done. Fuck your feelings on it. Xenia is a doctor and 4th degree Cleric. Heart needs the medical treatment. It will save us time and money to let her stay and help him. He’s in a bad way right now. Let your feelings about go and think. Take her the bag and watch her. I’m going to see my friend. I’ll be back later tonight.” He said walked away.

“Hurry up with my bag.” Xena called from inside the house.”

Damn.

Four swords of Katie Holmes Chapter 14 Heart

Diamond’s words hit hard. I was regretful for all I had said to the Deltas and knew I would have to apologize to him later. I looked at the front of the house to see.

Xenia’s Ruby Red BMW 2018 X1 in the parking lot of the house. Holy shit.

“Who the fuck car is parked at the godsdamn house?” Ace asked.

“Fucking bitch. What the fuck is it doing here?” Joe said from the back seat. “What the fuck is she doing back? She ain’t staying. She left. I told that bitch she stays gone.” Joe said pointly.

Ace looked back at me. “You want me to handle her.”

“No. She’s my wife.. and I got to tell Xenia that we’re getting a divorce.” I said.

Ace sighed. But, he said nothing. He didn’t look confident in at all. I looked around to similar experiences on my brothers faces. “I’ll tell her to leave.”

The van stopped at the curb. I opened the side door and got out. The front door opened and Xena came out. She walked out dressed in a expensive white suit that hugged her tall cuvry 6’2 body. Her face was strikingly beautiful as always. her platinum blond hair was flowed down her shoulders and back.. She had a openly gentle expression on her face which let me know she was far from calm or relaxed.

My head hurt. Ace tapped my arm. I looked back to see him holding a silver flask to me. “It’ll help for your headaches.” He said reading my mind.

I took it opened the cap and downed it. I felt better at cool taste of the refined water. I offered back to him. Ace shook his head. “No. It’s yours. Al will fill you up with a batch when you need it.”

“You look like shit. When did you start drinking?” Xenia said.

I looked up to see her a few feet away from me now. I had to look up at her. “It’s medicine. What are you doing here. You said you were going back to Florida to visit your parents. What happened?” I said and put the flask away in my suit jacket.

Xenia frowned glancing at the van and my family all watching us. “Can we talk alone?”

“No. Here’s good. Listen. This isn’t going to work out between us. Listen to me first, please.” I said seeing her about to get into it. She closed her mouth. “I got a lot to deal with right now. I got to manage my Momma’s estate and a shit ton work and tribal duties now. I don’t think your up for any of that so. Let’s get a divorce okay. You can have the condo and whatever is in our joint account and go our separate ways.” I said staring at her.

Xenia stared at me. “I thought your family didn’t believe in divorce? Your mother was against the notion as well as I recall.”

I shook my head. “She’s gone and you’ve proven that-“

“I want to talk privately.” Xenia insisted now. “I already know how your brothers feel about me. I can’t change that. I’m a female. I’m sorry I’m not a strong man as they are or a strong a woman as your mother.”

I frowned at her and closed the door to the van. I waved her over to side and started walking. We got far enough away I turned to her. “What’s your game? I know your up to something.” I asked taking out the flask opening it and taking a shot.

She grabbed it and sniffed the inside and froze. “This is sweet water with a hint of sage. Did Big Al ask Edo’s blessing on it? It won’t last. Al isn’t a doctor or a cleric. He still would have missed an element in the mixture.” She said.

I took the flask back and closed it putting it away. She studied me closely now. I shook my head. “Stop doing that. What happened? I wasn’t expecting you to come back. Did your father say something to you? Did the hospital call you back?”

Xenia studied me. I felt her eyes taking me in as a patient. I shook my head. “Stop it. I’m fine.” I said knowing it was lie now.

“No your not.” She said calmly. “I talked to my Dad. I told him what happened. He started asking questions. Questions I couldn’t answer, about you, about the effects of what you saw were having on your mind and did I have you checked out for curses and poison.” She said stared at me. “You’ve been cursed. Haven’t you?”

I smiled. “Arnold is a brilliant man but he’s a even better tribesmen. Thanks for coming back to check on me. But, I meant what I said. We’re getting a divorce.” I said.

Xenia stared at me. “I’m not going anywhere. How long have you been awake? Heart. Your wearing the same clothes you had on sense that night. You haven’t even shaved or washed your ass. This is more then morning. You’ve been cursed and possibly poisoned.”

I glared at her. “Alright. I’ll just wash up and get a check up at the hospital tomorrow morning. You need to leave. This isn’t your-“

Xenia’s eyes lite with that magical light. She reached for me before I realized what she was doing. “Sleep

I feel into darkness and knew nothing.

four swords of Katie Holmes Chapter 13 Diamond

Holy shit.

Joe and I sat in the back. He was still pissed off and glancing at Nina’s head. This idiot was obsessed with getting her now. If Ace hadn’t acted fast we would have a fucking problem on our hands we didn’t need.

“What are the horsemen?”

I stared out the window as we neared the house stopping to let a Max Freeman walk across the street with his dog and his white cane taping the street. He must be getting off work early today. I looked to my right and saw a female in a pink skirt and black leather jacket with a nice ass bent over at her parents’ black door as she picked up her keys. Twilla James still had my jacket. She straightened up opened the door and turned to close it catching me staring at her. She gave me that playful grin and raised her eye brows. I nodded. She zipped down the jacket a bit giving me a preview for later before she gave me a wink and closed the door. I was getting me some of that tonight for sure.

“Yo. Are listening to me or just looking at ass?”

I turned back to Joe.. “The horsemen is a fortornity of brothers that hold to oaths of loyalty and bound by traditions that date back two centuries ago. Once you are in. You ride with the brothers for life. Why you ask?”

Joe stared at me as the van started moving. “Have you ever met Vince before today?”

“No I haven’t but he’s a horsemen so I already what he is and what code he’s down for. Why you ask?”

Joe stared at him. “How did you know he was your fortornity brother? He seems like a real one but he was a bit to friendly.” He said calling into question the character of pledge brother on the low.

“He’s one of my elder brothers that wears the symbol of the horsemen but more to the point I know a horseman by how he fights and how treats my family. That man was giving you the game and fucking offered to sponsor you into the horsemen. He wasn’t doing that to be nice or because we hired him. He did that shit for me because he’s down with the code. Real talk.. You didn’t even noticed how nobody has yet to mention payment for their services. It was just a handshake and promise between Ace and the Elder Delta.” I said.

Joe stared at me. “What? Well I mean. Elder Delta will probably talk to Ace about it later if he hasn’t already.”

“The senior Mr. Delta didn’t mention money and I don’t expect he will.” Stacy said calmly. “My father has done probono work for his fortornity brothers. Fortornities as old as the horsemen have a unspoken code among their own. They don’t mention money between brothers in need of help. It’s dishonorable.”

“Shit.” Ace said and turned to Zadok who was driving. “You sent them a payment to hear out our case?”

Zadok was silent. “No. I just contacted them yesterday. They flew out here from the Lone the Star region to see us personally. They aren’t a small firm. It was a surprise to me that they personally met us..”

Ace shook his head. “I’ll have to figure out away too-“

“No.” I said. “Their doing it for me. So we’ll return the favor when they need help but I’ll try to talk to Vince about convincing his grandfather to let us foot the costs legal wise that will come up.” I said and looked at Joe. “You got a chance to be tutored by an elder horseman in becoming a professional asset to the tribe and sponsorship into my fortornity. That’s everything Momma and Daddy wanted for you. But, don’t do it for them, me or the tribe. Do it to make something of yourself. Vince wouldn’t have offered sponsorship if he didn’t see greatness in you. We are careful and selective about who we let in because the code of loyalty and honor ain’t no joke.. If you down for it, good. If not don’t waste his time on whether or not he’s on the real. He’s a horsemen. We ain’t about that corny shit. We mean what we say and we ride together for life. You feel me?”

Joe nodded. “Yeah. I hear ya Bro. I’m down.”

Four swords of Katie Holmes Chapter 12 Ace

I caught Vince and Joe have a long conversation out the corner of my eye for a couple hours until Vince went home and it was time for us all head on home. Diamond was fake snoring.

He came awake soon enough when Vince rolled out the door and I walked over with Stacy. Joe looked at me and I could still see it in his eyes. Nina looked me. Hmm. I got a good look at her now and I was remembering Andrew’s words from before about him not harming innocents or children.

Joe wanted her for sure but something was off I looked at Stacy noding over to Nina. She nodded. Stacy walked over to the booth taking Nina’s hand and dragged her away from Joe who was frowning between her and me.

Stacy took Nina off aside to talk while Diamond and Joe came up beside me. Joe looked over at Stacy talking quietly to Nina soft enough so that we couldn’t hear them. Joe looked back at me.

“What’s wrong? You feel something bad about that chicka?” Joe said.

Diamond said nothing just looked at me. I shook my head. “Wait a bit. So what you planning on doing with this girl?” I asked Joe directly.

Joe frowned st me. “Having a bit of fun and throwing her aside for the next shorty same as always. Why you asking. It isn’t like I didn’t learn it from you and Diamond.”

I stared at Joe. “There are limits to who you can fuck with and when I will roll and fold your ass over for touching a girl that’s a virgin. She’s apart of my tribe now. Under your and my protection now. If your going to fuck with her for fun let her know that. So that she doesn’t fall in love with you.” I told him straight up.

Joe and Diamond laughed in my face. I glanced over at Stacy to see them talking but I noticed her body language. She was getting pissed. Damn it.

“Bro. You sounding like a female.” Diamond said. “That woman is a full grown woman same as Joe. Let em have some fun. It’s their business.”

Joe grinned at me. “You should get a handle on your female, she’s-“

I looked at Joe. He froze as did Diamond. I stared at Joe. “All I’m asking you to be is careful. Nina is looking at you like your some fucking God. It ain’t no seduction with her. She will go along with anything you say. You don’t fuck with females like that. Their the ones that raise your damn kids and look at you as the Lord of the fucking world. If you have a problem with Stacy..well we can discuss it outside or in a ring. Otherwise watch your fucking mouth. Nobody controls me.”

“Ace?” Stacy said coming over and looking at me frowning. She put a hand to my cheek. Nina was at her side and she held her hand still

“Are you alright?” She asked in concern.

I smiled removed her hand. “I’m fine. So what are we doing?””

Stacy frowned at Diamond and Joe. Both looked like embarrassed boys. “Nina doesn’t have a place to stay and she needs your protection. Is it okay she stay at the house?”

“Hell that’s fine with me she can sleep with me?” Joe said with a charming grin. He wasn’t joking.

Stacy stared at him. “Your twenty, right?” She said.

“Aw shit.” Diamond pulled Joe away from being close to Nina. Joe frowned at him.

“What the fuck is your-“

“Shut the fuck up and listen.” Diamond said quickly. “You ain’t going nowhere near Nina until you finish college and get a fucking job. I’ll put in a word with Vince and he’ll get you an internship at his firm.”

Joe was staring between us as it slowly dawned on him. He looked at Nina was staring at him with moon eyes. “How old are you?”

“I’m of age in my people’s race and I am legal to consort with in this state.” She said evading the question.

Joe stared at her. “How old are you?”

“Sixteen…..in human years.” She said tightly.

“Holy shit.” Joe took a bigger step away from her. He stared at her. “Are you a virgin?” He asked stupidly.

Nina blushed. “That’s private and don’t understand why you are asking me that.”

I looked Joe. I did a double take. I saw it in his eyes. “Zadok.”

“Yes. My Lord.”

“Take my woman and Nina to the van and wait a bit. I have to talk to my brother.”

The three of them went while Diamond and I faced off against Joe. He was looking alarmed now.

“What? I’m not going to-“

“Three years. Four at the most.” I said. “Go to college and get a job. Momma didn’t raise us to be making kids with out some support for our females and kids. You ain’t ready to support nobody and she’s to submissive to go along with it.”

“Okay. Okay. I got you. I can get some somewhere else.” He said lying his ass off. “Stop looking at me like that.”

Diamond glared at him. “Keep your dick away from her. We got to find Momma’s killers and settle it first. We don’t need you fucking around making babies with that girl.”

“Damn. I feel good.” Heart said as he came awake and straighted he looked at us. “What’s going on?”

“Nina is sixteen and a virgin.” I said.

Heart frowned looked at the situation and looked at Joe. He stared at him. “Joe. Come on man.”

“I ain’t going to touch her. I don’t want her.” Joe lied.

“Holy shit.” Heart said getting up. He waved his hand. “Just send her away. She’s not our responsibility.”

“She is.” I told him. “She’s fairy kind. She made a magical contract to be in our service in whatever needs we require and she has no place to go so she’s staying at the house until I can figure the shit out.”

Heart grimanced and looked at Joe. “Damn. Come on man. You only need to wait two years. You know how Momma wasn’t down with you making babies you didn’t have a job to feed them with.”

“Alright godsdamn it. I won’t touch her for two years. I promise.”

“…and you won’t get her pregnant until you have a fucking job.” I added.

Joe looked pissed off. “Alright. Alright damn it to hell. I won’t get her pregnant until I have a damn job. Get the fuck off my ass. You fucking judgemental assholes. Let’s go home.”

Four swords of Katie Holmes Chapter 11 Joe

Rage and vengeance.

I tasted it on my tongue as I stared at Heart’s kind face as he slept in a booth at the bar. He smiled knowing he was safe and among his people and safety. The refined water had done a trick of putting Heart at peace to sleep finally. But, he would have to keep taking it to free his mind from the spell that was in his body and clouded his mind.

Two of the Deltas had left and only Vince remained. He sat quietly sitting with Diamond in the booth. Diamond was slupped over the table as he tried to drink himself under the table. Ace was talking with Zadok at the bar making plans about finding a doctor or holyman to help Heart get through the shit. Ace didn’t drink anything and went straight into action once Heart fell asleep.. Telling Elder Delta to connect the proper authorities and begin the procedures. His lady never left his side or said much. Stacy only spoke when Ace asked her opinion issues he wasn’t sure about legally. All I could think about was not being there the night it happened.

To save Heart from being mind fucked. To save Momma from those bastards touching her. They fucked with my family for money and power. The shadows. That’s what Momma called them. That’s what elder Delta said the assassins were. It was all cap. Fake ass pretend boggy men that didn’t have the balls to come at men in the light like men. I just needed a name. I had to play it smart and the fuckers couldn’t see me coming until I rolled up their asses or fuck with my mind with their magic crap.

I looked at Nina. She sat next to me staring at nothing crying silently. I picked up a napkin and wiped her face. She jumped but relaxed when she saw it was me. She took the napkin and blushed at my direct stare looking away.

“Thank you my Lord.” She said too sweetly.

I had a mind to make her mean but not now. I needed information. I turned to Vince who was busy watching Diamond and frowning in thought.

“What kind are you?”

Vince turned to while Diamond’s head was down. He frowned. “I’m sorry. Could you please expound upon your question a little so I’ll know the full context.”

I frowned at his speech and manners. I wondered if that too was a mask. “We were all froze up when that witch was talking you were able to move inspite of him using magic. You said his magic couldn’t work on you. Why is that?”

Vince smiled and shrugged his broad shoulders. “It’s a host of reasons, Lord Holmes. My family is mixed with a uniquely tallented bevy of people. But, it also has to do with my training as a counselor of magical law and critical thinking and logic courses I studied in school. So you noticed I was the only one besides yourself not under the witch’s spell?”

Vince was smooth and tipped his drink to his lips watching me. I glanced at Diamond. His head was down and eyes closed. I could hear him dozing a little. I looked over at the bar to see him busy. I turned back to Vince to see him watching me closely.

I nodded my head. “Yeah. I couldn’t do much good in my position. You learned how to fight witches like that in school?”

Vince again shrugged. “Yeah and I’ve had special trainning from private tutors sense I came of age. If your interested in magical martial law you should think about going to school for it. I’m willing to help tutor you in what I know and help give you tips in taking the entrance exams.”

I blinked caught off guard by the offer. I hadn’t thought at all of going to college and I hadn’t had an idea of what I wanted to do. But, seeing how he handled the witch got me interested but for other reasons. “Yeah. I am interested. I would be honored if you could teach me some things. But, what was that shit with the wand? Why couldn’t Diamond touch it?”

Vince sat back sitting his beer down. “Magic words, spells are dangerous enough if your mind hasn’t been trained well in advance against submitting to it’s influence but I have also trained my body and will against it’s effects as well when handling their weapons. Touching their crap can also pull you into a deeper connection to be influenced and controlled. There’s a lot of trainning that goes into what I do. But, it all comes down to your mind. Not everyone is cut out for it. But, if your interest and mind are strong. I’m happy to start a spark to your knowledge.”

I nodded. “If Diamond had let that bitch leave here would you have hunted him down and killed him?”

Vince smiled slowly. “The gentleman that Diamond executed violated the region King’s law and as an officer and Lord in magical law I took an oath as did my brother and grandfather to terminate anyone that uses magic to influence people into illegal contracts or murder. Using magic too control or violate people is an amoral violation. That’s why it’s illegal.. I have performed the duty once before within the realm of the magical law. As I told the gentleman. I would see him later. I meant it.” He said calmly. “So are you still interested in me tutoring you for the entrance exams for the fall season coming up? It’s very fulfilling career as a magical lawyer.”

“Yeah. I am.”

four swords of Katie Holmes Chapter 10 Heart

We sat down in comfortably after some of the men cleaned up the mess at the door. The elder Mr. Delta lit up a cigar offering one to Ace as they went over the business. Diamond was relaxed knowing that one of his pledge brothers from his college days would handling his case.

That was enough for me and everybody else. Ace blew out some smoke and regarded the Elder Mr. Delta.

“Alright. Can you get in contact with the fuckers behind this so we can end it.”

Andrew sat back. “First. We need to expose who they are. They’re hiding in groups right now. Once we expose them you’ll have to legally challenge them to a gentleman’s honor duel. It must be a matter of honor not a challenge for their domain. Otherwise the shit can be held up by negotiations or a war for years before it’s saddled. There can’t be any hint that this is could be a clan war against them or play on their domain otherwise you get their alliances fighting with them as well against you. It has to be calculated cold and all business. We get one strike. If need be I have to request something of your family.”

Ace held up a hand. “How does Miss Gannon fit in all this? You sent her to us on purpose. We could have killed her.”

Andrew shook his head. “First off no you wouldn’t have just killed her. Your the Lords of the 4 swords. You were breed from birth to a code and honor that dates back sense your people laid hold to your power centuries. Yes. I know your legend far better then you think. Our families have crossed paths before. But, to answer your question again my firm has an associate who advised us to send Miss Gannon. Miss Gannon wasn’t in any position to object inspite of the risk.”

“So you ordered her to come to us risking her life? For what to gain our interest? I think your a shit head.”

Andrew looked at me. “Her father enchanted me to hire, seduce and kill her on his birthday tomorrow. I don’t work for witches or kill the innocent for anyone’s pleasure.” He said bluntly. “I chose the best option for her that became available to me, Lord Holmes and having her in your ranks provides us a denial of blood clan war excuse.”

I frowned at him. “No father would pay a mercenary to kill his-“

Vince started to chuckle lightly as did his brother. Diamond didn’t laugh but he looked pissed at me.

“Bro. Your speaking from your youth. There are assholes in this fucking world that would do much worse to their own children and have. Mr. Delta and Vince are Horsemen. We ride with honor and protect our females and people. He wouldn’t lie to me or my family. He did the best he could do he didn’t have a choice.”

Ace nodded. “Alright what do you want to ask?”

Andrew sighed. “If you can’t beat their champion will you please allow us to handle the challenger?” He said carefully.

Damn. I knew there was going to be something. Ace stared at Andrew. “Who decides if I ain’t able to do it?”

“Me.” Andrew said. “It’s my job to keep you safe and ensure all parties involved in what was stolen from you be dealt with painfully. Two hundred cases. I only lost once but I never intend on it happening again. I need your word on it or the firm can’t take on your case.” He said solemnly.

“Alright. If by some chance I can do it then you handle who it will be.” Ace said.

“This is bullshit.” I couldn’t help saying now.

“Heart.” Ace began but Andrew touched his shoulder. He stared at me focused on me. “Yes. It is. These things should be handled the direct way but the situation is more complicated.”

“It’s not complicated at all. Just tell us who and where they are we’ll handle it then.”

Andrew stared at me. “You were there the night your mother died. Zadok told me. Did you see it happen?”

“I’-I didn’t see shit. I got there to late to stop them from killing her.”

“Them?” Andrew paused. “You got there to late to stop them. How many were there?”

I blinked. “What?”

“Two. Three. ten. Fifty. A hundred. A-“

“Five damn it. There were five of them.” I said losing patience by how slow he was talking. I didn’t want to talk about this. My head hurt from thinking about it. “Ace and the family will handle-“

“Five. What did they look like? I’m guessing all men. But something about their faces their bodies. You couldn’t forget how they looked.”

“It doesn’t matter. Killing the mother fuckers that-“

“It does matter. They were Warlocks that broke the protective seals on the shop. That took time. You had to see them as they ran away or drove away or-“

“They disappeared. They were like shadows. It’s like…It’s like. They weren’t real. Just like they said.. They weren’t real. They looked. They looked like-” I paused looking at Ace and shook my head. What the fuck was I talking about. I frowned. I couldn’t remember.

I looked at their faces. Andrew nodded. “I think your right, Lord Holmes. It is important your brothers have a hand in this matter.”

I blinked and nodded. “Thank you. That’s all I wanted. She was our mother. It’s only right we saddle it.”

Andrew nodded. “I agree. Lord Holmes. The Deltas are only here to act as your servents in you avenging the death of your mother.” He said and turned to Ace. “I think we should have a drink in celebration of our battle. Something special. Do you have any refined water?” He said.

Ace stared at him and then nodded. “Yeah. Yeah. Big Al always keeps that shit in secret stash for himself.” He said and glanced at me frowning. “Are you going to stand there looking at me all day sit down. You want a drink of the stuff? It’s pretty good.”

“Yeah. sure. What’s this refined water stuff? Is it like Jin and Tonic or something?”

Diamond patted my shoulder. “It’s the hard stuff. Like straight up Vodka. Maybe you should stay clear of it.”

I flipped him off. “Fuck you. I can drink you under the table any day. Bring it on.”

Diamond rubbed my head joking with me. I turned to Joe to see him staring off until he felt my eyes on him. He looked at me and forced a smile on his face. “Get ready to shit faced.” He said.
