Blue Technomancer CHAPTER 15

Beau jerked awake and away from Angel. He fell to the floor and throw up violently into a waste bin near him. Everyone in the room all stared at him. E, Rider and the rest of the crew and the still image of Major Benjamin on the projected screen.

Holy shit. Beau felt like he had been thrown back in time to before everything in his world had gone to shit a second time. How the fuck was he going to deal with living through the shit storm twice again.

E stared at him. “Who died with you?” She asked.

Beau took Rider’s face in his hands. Rider frowned at him and stared to pull away and noticed Beau crying.

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry.” Beau kept repeating. He couldn’t shake the image of Rider’s dead body or the guilt that still stabbed at his heart.

Rider sighed and gentle removed Beau’s hands from him. “I’m alive. It was just a nightmare. Everything is fine.”

Beau shook his head looking back at Angel to see her dropping off asleep. She was alive but for how long? “No it isn’t. Nothing is fine. It’s all fucked up. I was wrong. They were all soldiers and mercenaries. They had one of our own with them. Fucker burned me with fire and lightning from his mouth.”

Rider shook his head. “That’s makes no fucking sense. They just gave us fucking all they asked us to do is take out one last monster in the city and the blockade is over and they would give us all positions.”

E shook her head. “You and the others were offered those positions. Not me or Techno. They want us dead for some reason.”

“What the fuck do we do?”

E stared at him. “There is no “we” here John. The government has picked you and the others to run the face of whatever political game their running. I wasn’t invited. I’m running. Beau what are you going to do?”

“He said there were to many lose ends to clear up before things could get back to normal. He also said we didn’t live up to our end on the deal.” Beau said.

E frowned at him. “You need to be thinking about your fucking life instead-“

“We have five days until they end the block aid.” Beau said. “It’s the one opportunity for us to get our people out of this city. We promised the government we would have the city cleared of any dangerous violent threats. It’s the promise we made for our people to get a chance for them to get out and for things to return to normal.” Beau said.

“What fuck does….shit. Shit.” E cursed violent. She glared at Rider. “What fucking monster did you leave alive?”

Rider shook his head. “I didn’t leave any monsters alive. We took out the last monsters two months. The fucking city is cleared.”

“We missed one then.” Beau said. “Between all of us there had to be someone we let go or some moment we…ah shit.” Beau said. “Who cleared out the subway?”

No one answered. E closed her eyes. “None of you cleared out the tunnels. If there are any monsters down there we’re all screwed and I’m dead.” She said.

Rider shook his head. “We still have time. We’ll head down the subway tunnels and start clearing them out and Beau can take the crew and take out Vlad and his crew.”

“In five fucking days. It won’t be possible to clear out the subways in time to do both.” E said. “I need to think.” She said.

Beau shook his head. Everything was clear to him now. “I know what to do. Rider you and the others take out the others. The military will back you up. I’m taking a small unit down to the subways and hunting for whatever else is down there. No. Don’t fight me on it. You lead them in and handle Vlad.” He said.

E studied him silently. She said nothing. Beau knew if anyone had an idea what he had planned today she did but she was also smart enough no say anything about it. “Beau. Whatever you’re planning on doing you need to do it fast. We’re already running low on time as is to keep alive.” She said.

Beau smiled and nodded. “Tomorrow. I’m going to give the people holding us here a reason to finally let us out and then I’ll done. Just watch me.” He said and walked out of the room.

Blue Technomancer CHAPTER 14

A loud explosion in the night awoke Beau from his sleep. He looked around the room for Rider. Rider’s cot was empty but for a piece of paper.

He got up quickly going over and taking the piece of paper. It was a short message.

Beau felt a weird feeling. He rushed out of their tent and hurried out to where a small crowd of their people were gathering around a smoking area.

He saw the body. Rider was black. Burned to near ash.

There was complete silence and then a loud wailing came from someone. Beau didn’t look at E as she went crazy. Crying out from her soul in pain.

Beau just stared at his friend. His brother. He had failed him. He had fought hard and tried his best to avoid this day from happening and it still happened. E had been right. She had warned him Rider was close to losing it. She had begged him to turn down the job.

First Angel and now Rider.

“Fucking hell.” He said finally.

E roared fighting her way out of the people holding her and went at him beating him with her hands and then trying to choak him finally until he gathered her in his arms. She roared curses at him still trying to fight him as he cried.

“I told you! I told you!” E said in a bitter voice.

Beau said nothing as he stared at his friend on the ground. He felt emptied out of all the hope and energy.

……

Beau shook himself out of his day dreams of Rider’s death a day ago to focus back on the conversation between him and Major Benjamin on Skype.

“Lucas. I know your having a tough time right now but you need to get your head on straight. You can not turn down this job offer. I’m sorry about your friend but you really need to consider your own future.”

Beau shook his head. “I’m out. I can’t abandon my people right now.” He said. “Rider’s death….it hit everyone here hard. We need time to-“

“You are all out of time. Vlad’s children are to be taken in to military trusted hands and your people and their children will be shipped to Baltimore within the hour.”

Beau stared at Major Benjamin. “Vlad’s kids we’re given into my protection. I promised him before I killed him that they would raised among his own people. My people.”

“The children are wards of the state and American citizens as are your people. The military will be there with in the hour to take them all. Lucas. Don’t think about doing anything stupid. You-“

Beau turned off the feed and fell down in to a seat. His legs hurt and he couldn’t think beyond the consent pain he was in. It was to much. He was losing to much all at once and now Vlad’s children would be under the control of the government.

“You can’t fight them.” E said behind him.

He couldn’t look up at her. The shame and guilt he felt was to much. “Why didn’t you tell him?”

E sat down and felt around blindly for something on her desk. Beau stared at her. “What the fuck is wrong with you? It’s not that dark in here.”

E shook her head. “I didn’t love Rider.”

“Bullshit.” Beau spat.

“I didn’t love him.” E repeated. “Rider belonged to me. We fit one another. He just wasn’t able to accept it. He only just lost his wife six months ago. You lost. Is this a dream?”

Beau looked up at her as she aimed a glock at his face. “Yes.”

“Good.” She said before firing the gun in his face.

Beau and E sat down in her hospital office drinking wine alone after Rider’s funeral. A flash of light brightened the room and then several government agents and mercenaries appeared in the room. All armored and weapons at the ready aimed at them. Beau looked at the leader in the room.

“Sir. What’s this about?”

The man frowned at him. “Set your weapon down on the table. We came here to talk.”

“Okay. What’s this about, Major Benjamin?”

“You and Doctor E need to come along with us to a secure location. You are to be detained for your protection.”

“I’m not going anywhere with you without a warrant.” E said.

“You didn’t answer my question Major. I want to speak to your commanding officer.” Beau said.

“It’s simple son. To many lose ends have to be cleaned up before things can get back to normal on the Surface. Sorry but you and the doctor are the ones that didn’t keep your promises and handled your end of the bargain. You have information we need. The others have already fallen in line and disbanded your army here.”

Beau flinched back. “Army?! Sir. We don’t have an army here. We’re just survivors. We’ve been waiting six months to get out of this city and we’ve been protecting the folk here so they could get out finally in one piece.”

Major Benjamin shook his head. “The president and the military don’t see it that way. Besides the fact you didn’t come good with your end of the deal you made with the government you got to much power in your own right and influence with the people here. Your the reason some of them are staying just to look out for you.. Are you coming with us or not.”

Beau looked at E. She shook her head. Beau sighed and looked back. “We’re staying here.” He said.

The soldiers unloaded on them instantly. Killing E behind him and taking him down to the ground and hail storm of bullets until one of the mercenaries shot him with a blast of fire and lightning from his mouth.

Beau stared feeling his body die and then finally. He felt Angel let go his hand and release him from the hell.

Blue Technomancer CHAPTER 13

“Shit. Angel. Let me out me out of the dream baby girl. Let me out.” Beau yelled out. He got no response.

Beau ran over to the side of the building and jumped off the side only to land on the roof again. A chill went down his spine. Angel was forcing him to stay in the dream.

“Angel. Let go of my hand. Angel let go right now.” He said.

Nothing. The dream still held. Damn it he would have to see this one through to the end point.

Beau felt a sense of vertigo as he blinked and realized he stood on a platform with Rider and three other blue mutant New Yorkers as the President took the podium and addressed a small crowd of the Blues and a few normal humans. He was having another spell because of the pain in his legs and injured arm. Luckily that was over.

He smiled along with the others standing with him. He looked at the president.

“It’s been a long hard road for us as Americans and earthlings. But, today marks a new stage in our course correct to get back to the business of living.”

Beau half listened. It was all the show part.

They had made it. It had taken his friends and people six months of work but they had bartered a deal with the U. S. Government to get their people out by the reopening of New York City to the outside world.

His eyes looked out out over the small crowd of his friends and people he had grown to know as his family. One person was missing and one seat left empty between Jay and Freya Newton.

Angel.

Beau blinked back the tears and tried not to think of her. She should be here. She would have been here if he had made the choice to save her while he could have. Jay and Freya glared at him in animosity and hatred.

He had had no choice. It had been for greater good of them all. That he had chosen to take out Vlad and his son then….

Beau realized what he thought and looked back over his memory from a few days before….

What the fuck?

Beau kicked opened the door and fired his assault shotgun into the room killing Vlad, his children and wives. He had taken fired once executing Vlad dropped his weapon and raced up stairs to the roof with the gang and Vlad’s sons firing rounds into his back as he barely made it to the roof and dove off into the waiting arms of Rider who was floating in the air waiting to pick him.

The memory hit Beau like a shot gun shot to the face and left him shaking at the strong memory of it. He remembered the violence and smell of blood and rush of violence he felt. The crash afterward had left him wanted to vomit afterward.

No. No.

Beau shook his head he couldn’t have done that he wouldn’t have. That was going to far. He blinked tried to replay or remember the day better in the dream. It only got worse.

First it was Vlad and his family then it was Vlad, his family and Rider. Beau stopped looking back and realized it was no good.

When the fuck was this nightmare going to end?

Major Benjamin clapped Beau’s shoulder. Beau blinked up at the older man. “Sir. I’m sorry you were saying.” He asked.

Major Benjamin smiled. “I’m just glad to hear your joining up with my unit on the Supers West division. I’ll be making you team leader.” He said.

Beau nodded but frowned. “I thought Rider would be a natural-“

“No. Rider is a bit of wild card. We’ve already given him a temporary contract for hire to handle our dangerous situation.”

Beau blinked and started to speak but E caught his arm and jerked him away from the Major.

“Excuse me. Major. I’ll be right back.”

Major Benjamin grinned but nodded. “Take your time.”

Beau jerked his gaze to her E. “What the fuck is wrong with you?” He said.

“You need to talk to Rider. He’s worrying me. He’s to fine with all these changes.” E said tightly.

“He hasn’t said anything to me yet. He’s going to be working for the government again freelance but he’ll get some work to do.”

“You need to reconsider the government’s offer. Rider and our people need you around. Have you heard of the ghettos they have lined up for us. Their in Baltimore’s high crime areas.” E said.

Beau grimaced but nodded. “I know. We’ll make it work. I’m not abandoning our people. I need to take this job to us a high position in the government to help them.” He said.

“Your acting delusional. Talk to Rider and keep an eye on him tonight. He has to be watched. Losing True Steel and Artemis really as been affecting him a lot lately. He needs you. Promise you’ll watch him.” E said.

“I promise. Nothing is going to happen to him. I’ll talk to him and reassure he’s still got us to back him up.” Beau said though kept wondering. When the in living hell would Angel let him out of the nightmare cycle of hell point possible futures he was in. None of this shit was real but Beau knew if he was seeing the possibilities of what the future could be then he was screwed.

Blue Technomancer CHAPTER 12

Beau finally made his way to the emergency roof top and took his position on the roof of the office building. He set his rifle case down focused his gaze on Vlad’s building as he started to load his rifle but he heard a sound behind himself. He turned with his 1911’s drawn.. Beau stared in surprise at his target.

Vlad Morgan was a tall Russian American dressed in a blue blazer suit that matched the the tint of his hair and eyes.

“Good morning Vlad.”

Vlad held up a wine glass with orange juice in his hand. He took a sip. “Good morning Technomancer.”

“It’s Lucas. You weren’t behind me a few seconds ago and you can’t fly. So how did you manage that trick?” Beau said.

“Your impressed.” Vlad asked him.

Beau smiled. “Yes and I’m thinking about how to steal your trick.” He said.

Vlad nodded and leaned back against something invisible behind him. “Take a guess. I’m sure you can figure out if you think about it.” He said.

Beau looked around then found the projector sending the image of Vlad to him. He frowned and bent down to put his rifle away. “I’m guessing you found out about the message the government sent to my people.”

“Bingo. Technomancer. One of my kids has a similar ability as your young friend. Angel. I believe is her name.”

Beau sent him a glare. “It would better if you disappeared a while before I would have to take you out.”

Vlad smiled. “Your reluctant, huh? You are a strange one, Technomancer. I have no intention on leaving my city.”

Beau stared at him. “The President wants you dead for whatever crimes you committed. You stick around long enough I’m the one assigned to make it happen.”

Vlad nodded. “So the supposed the United States leader is planning on taking back the city and unstable country in one move. You and Rider will be out of the hero business afterwards and you’ll be shipped off to soldiers in their new slave warriors division. Though then again with the powers you have they might just put a bullet in you.”

Beau hadn’t heard of anything relating to what Vlad was saying. He suspected it was all bullshit but he wasn’t much surprised by anything anymore. “You should think about your kids and females and find some way to get out before I have to make them orphans.”

Vlad stared at him. “It’s not the same world brother. No matter what deal they’ve given you. You’ll only end up screwed over. It’s been what? Six months sense they locked us away in this city. Now they’re deciding to let us out you think it’s that easy.”

Beau shook his head. “Never said I was expecting they would accept us. They’ve got the power. If you stay here. You die and your kids are left for someone else to protect. Think about your kids.” He said.,

“I am.” Vlad said. “I know what’s happening outside this city. I know what the president has in mind for us. I’m not going to be shipped off to some fucking ghetto after what I made and the comfortable position my kids are in to have that all taken away because the bitch in the white house is afraid of the blue skin folk.”

Beau was quiet. He could see Vlad couldn’t be convinced by anything he said. He was to far invested in what he was doing to back down.

“Whatever happens I’ll try my best to look out for your kids.” Beau said.

Vlad grimaced. “You should be more concerned about Angel’s well being then trying to kill me.” He said.

“She’s a child. She’s off limits.” Beau said calmly.

“Not me. It’s her powers. It’s the one thing that doctor of yours didn’t tell you. The more you use her powers to see your own future the more you can expect her life span to be shorter then yours. I can help her find the answer to controlling her powers.” Vlad said.

Beau smiled. “I already know that slick. You’re not telling me anything I don’t know already.” He said.

“Did you your the reason she’s dying? It’s your powers that making her go into over load. I have the solution to it. If you work with me.” Vlad said.

“Tell me.” Beau demanded.

Vlad smiled and nodded. “I was right about you. Your way more reasonable and honest then the others. I’ll contact you later when your ready to make a deal.” Vlad said before his protected image faded before him.

Beau caught a building flickering in the distance. He got up and then thought about how he had gotten to the building’s roof. He couldn’t remember when he had gotten to the roof top or anything else.

He realized. He was having a premonition dream of the future. Angel. she had locked him in vision bubble.

Blue Technomancer CHAPTER 11

Beau intentionally was the last one to enter the head quarter’s of the commanders allowing Artemus enter ahead of him when he got her to the park. The head quarter’s was a trailer mobile home they had built two had half months in the center of central park. He stared up and skies as a druids flew over their heads taking photographs and watching them. He got inside into a spacious room with a single round table inside with four indivisuals inside.

Rider was standing by E a petite dark hair woman in a lab jacket and black dress. True Silver a tall dark blue skinned man with black hair nodded to him. He was dressed in grey jeans and matching shirt his eyes scanned Beau with a light. He stood by Artemus who was watching Beau carefully.

Beau frowned at Angel being in the room as E stood in front of her projector and then picked up a remote at her desk.

“I need you to see something.” She said to him and then hit a button on the remote. The still image of a man in a green uniform with stone cold expression and buzz cut fade appeared on the projected screen.

Beau frowned and stared at the man. “That’s Major Ethan Benjamin. I served under him two years ago. Hmm.”

E nodded watching him. “The president knows that. It’s the reason she had him deliver this message to you personally.” She said and hit the play button.

“Good morning, Lucas. I’ve been ordered to inform you of the due date of the blockade around the city is going to be lifted in five days. You and your people will then be inducted into the new Supers division and awarded service medals of honor.”

“What’s the catch?” Beau asked.

“You might be wondering what the hell is the catch? In this, Skype call you will be receiving material instructions on what must take place before the blockade is lifted and you your people will be allowed outside the city. Should you choose to accept the conditions then the Government will see signs of it or not of your acceptance when all measures are met. This is Major Ethan Benjamin out.”

E stopped the video and brought up screen shots of a building in the city and seven Blue mutants images on the screen. Beau knew four of them by deals and violent encounters the others he had no idea who they were or why they were targets of the government..

“Who the hell are the three bitches with the long hair?” Artemis asked.

True steel shook his head. “Don’t know. But, there the targets.”

E pointed at the three females. “They’re the same person. Each person is a personality of the first. True and Artemis can handle them. Rider can deal with the storm gangsters. Beau, you’ll have to take out Vlad yourself. Your the only one that can.”

“Why is Angel here?” Beau asked.

Angel smiled as she sat back in her wheelchair. “I’m here to do my job Beau. To give you a little insight to what might happen.” She said and held out her hand toward him.

Beau frowned at her. “Not today, Angel. I think you’ve been working to hard and we’ve been using you to much for my liking. It’s time you retired. It’s an order. You just recovered from our last dream walk a month ago just manage getting the President to talk with us.” He said.

Angel looked at E and then back at Beau and she shrugged. “I’ll take my leave then.” She said and started moving past him to brushed by his shoulder with her forearm as she left the room.

Beau sent a warning look at E. E held up her hands. “Alright. Alright. Your in charge. How are you going to handle Vlad?” He said.

Beau rubbed his jaw. “I’ll manage it my way. He’s got kids and two wives I don’t want to involve them in the mess. I’ll make it a clean kill.” He said.

E studied him closely. “Don’t try to warn or negotiate with him. It won’t work.” She said.

Beau stared at her. “I wasn’t planning on doing so.” He said.

“Your thinking about it though. That’s worse. You could have killed him two months ago. You should have shot him after we found out about the sex house he was running. He’s a gift for charming females and men in to doing what he wants and he’s a hunter. He has to go or none of us will be able to leave this place alive.” E said to him.

Beau stared at her. “I think you got something on your E. Why don’t you just let it out because because after I leave I trying none of your bullshit.” He said.

E stared at him. “You’ve killed gangsters worse or stronger then Vlad over these months we’ve been in this hell hole. I don’t understand why you sympathize with that asshole. I need a reason. Don’t give me no bullshit reason that’s like Rider or anyone here that’s fought along side us or died. I need to understand. Just tell me. Once.” She said.

“You do you Mitchell Daniels the Hawk mutant gang leader.” Beau asked her.

E nodded. “Save me the speech and yourself the time. Tell me what you want to say.” She said.

“Every fucking gangster you sent me to kill bring the violence down and gang wars down in the city near us has only ended up being a case for more people dying and stronger gangsters rising up. I’ve also had to kill a few of their children that them in control and had to bury and burn a lot of bodies. Vlad isn’t that special of a gangster but he takes care of his children and does right by his people. He brings order above all the gangster in this shit hole city.” Beau said staring at her. “I’m tired of dealing with you. I’m tired of having to keep what little people we have alive. I’m tired of you not understanding that your just as much a cold bastard as the rest of the gangsters I’ve had to kill.” He said.

E stared at him with emotionless eyes. “Thank you for being honest with me. I am well aware what I am. This is the last time Beau. I mean it. Vlad has to go. You get rid of him you can get our people out of here.” She said.

Beau stared at her. “What if your wrong?” He said to her. “What if me doing what your asking me to is just one step to killings our people. What if your stupidly to trusting in your own brain.” He said.

“Beau! Easy.” Rider said.

E touched Rider’s shoulder but her eyes were on Beau. “Then we all die. I told you Beau. Vlad has to die. You can figure out the means of it and how to perform the act. If you can think of different way of making his disappear then you better figure before we all run out of time.” She said.

Blue Technomancer CHAPTER 7

Beau stared at Jackie in confusion. His heart started beating against his chest as he stared at the one person he loved the most in the world as she stared at him like he was a monster. “Jackie. It’s me. I know I look different but I’m still me.” He said.

“I don’t know who the fuck you are. Don’t touch me, freak. FUCKER! You lied to me. Your not Beau. Your just a fucking freak!” Jackie screamed at him and spat in his face.

Beau stared at her in shocked awe. He couldn’t believe what was happening. It was the second shocker to his life. “I’m Beau Lucas. Your high-school sweetheart. We grew up together in Texas. We lost our virginity together in the backseat of my Daddy’s pickup truck on my 16th birthday. Jackie. It’s me.” He said.

Jackie shook her head. “No. Beau is dead. I watched him die in my arms. He was speared with a steel bar. Get the fuck away from me you lunatic freak.” She said.

Beau tried to hold her but she clawed his face with her nails. She screamed at the pain holding her own hand. She glared at him.

“Your not Beau. Your just some crazy lunatic pretending to be him. He’s dead. I saw him die with my own eyes.” She said.

Beau turned to Rider. The other man stared back at him before turning to Jackie. “My friend is a little sad about losing his fiancée. You kind ah look like her. Sorry if he scared you. She died in his arms too. You can go now.” He said.

Jackie softened looking at Rider’s handsome face and believed him. Beau turned his back on them.

“Oh. Well. I can understand but-” Jackie said and Beau could hear that intimate purr to her voice that let him know with shock that she wanted to have sex with Rider then and there.

“You can leave now.” Rider said in cold voice devoid of any warmth now. “I’m sure you have a family to get to and your boyfriend’s family will want to hear about what happened to him?” Rider said dismissing her.

Beau said nothing. If he couldn’t convince Jackie he was who he was there was no way in hell his family would believe him. He had known Jackie all his life. Just like that he knew. He could never go home again. It was over for him.

“Oh. Yeah. Thank you all for rescuing us. What’s your name by the way?” Jackie said.

Beau felt sick hearing rising sexual interest in her voice directed at Rider. She was totally ignoring Beau completely like he was a strange or another fixture in the room like a lamp or table.

“My name is Rider. Your free to leave. Please go home to your people. Try your best to get out of the city it isn’t safe right now for people like you. My two friends will guide you out and protect you until you get back to your people. Goodbye.” He said.

“The fuck we will and we ain’t your friends asshole. Yo. Blue Techno wizard fuckhead.” Eddie cut in. “Get this fucking collar off my friend. A deal is a deal.” He said.

Beau snapped his fingers and the collar fell off easily from around Vince’s neck. “You take the ladies out to safety I’ll do right by you. The Doctor is in central park. I hear they came to harm on your watch I’ll be on your ass. You get me?” He said.

“Fuck. All you black dudes are all the same. Alright. Come on Vince.” Eddie said.

“Oh. Thank you. I’m sorry about hurting your friend. I-” Jackie said but she paused saying nothing. Beau looked at Rider to see a look of disgust on his face.

“Goodbye Miss Daniels.” Rider said dismissing her.

“Goodbye then. Thank you for rescuing us.” Jackie said.

Jackie started walking away following Eddie and Vince. Beau didn’t turn to watch her go. Rider came up beside him and stood with him looking at the city as most of it was still on fire and they heard gun shots and screams.

“I got some news from Doctor E. She did some tests on me. She says I have a couple more years until my body explodes from the alien energy. I don’t know how long it will take before the army and government to get shit back to normal. I figure I will keep going until they take their sweet time to getting to it.” He said in a tone that carried little emotion about it.

Beau nodded. “You got some time to keep your promise to your brother. She say anything about me?”

“Your condition is stable but she’s worried about the psychological effects this shit will have for you long term. I have a condo and some money in a safe. It’s yours when I go. Sorry I can’t be much help to you otherwise. You helped me out greatly I appreciate it.” He said.

“She didn’t recognize me. I told her everything I knew about her. She just acted and looked at me like I was a freak.” Beau said staring at nothing now as he felt a coldness creep up inside of his body. His soul felt scared and he was broken now completely.

“The same way she looked at me.” Rider said.

Beau turned to glare at Rider only to see him looking at his scared glowing forearms in disgust.

“She wanted to fuck you, Rider. She would have let you fuck her if you had been alone.” Beau said angrily.

“She knew who you were Beau.” Rider said softly.

“What?” Beau said acting like he didn’t hear him.

“I heard her lie about seeing you die. I saw her shaking her head and acting like she couldn’t hear you telling her facts only you could know. She knew. She just pretended not to understand or hear you. She looked at you the same way she was looking at me.” He said looking up at Beau. “She was just using me to ignore what happened to you and the fact she ran away leaving you to fucking die like the coward she is. I’ve seen that look on people’s faces enough over for the last few days to know rejection. No matter how many I’ve saved it don’t matter. I’m still a freak to them. It’s only lucky I’m not doing this job for them.” Rider said.

Beau stared back at his glowing eyes and scared face. He saw a broken man haunted by the nightmare of the hell he was still enduring. Barely. Only one thing could pull him on and not think of the pain of loss and knowledge he had a ticking time bomb in his body. Rider had no family or future only one thing could keep him going. A promise and a will to keep on fighting until you had nothing left.

Beau understood now. Rider was a man that lost everything and he couldn’t see a way forward or had a future. All he had was a fight and a promise to keep. Beau he was maybe going to live past this shit and go on or die in a few hours. He looked out over the city hearing cries for help and fires burning. It was a war before him. He was a warrior.

“Let’s get to work, brother. We can sleep when we’re dead.” Beau said turning up his hoodie and turning his gaze to the city with one flick of his wrist his weapons came to his hands.

Rider snapped out of his own pain and looked out over the city. “Your right. Fuck sleep. We got a job to finish.”

XO “A missing runner Episode 10

We arrived at the out door concert. As it was just getting going. The first band was rocking out making the kids down below go wild viking off the magic of sound and the hypnotic light show.

I scanned the crowd with my eye as flashes of light shined down and across the crowd of youthful faces and mixture of social economic classes.

“It’s no good bro. You ain’t going to find him in that crowd.” Xena said.

“What’s my time?” I asked my sister again to distract her while I searched the crowd.

“Seven hours and thirty-three minutes until the next sun rise. We’ll have to call it and let authority handle it.”

I was silent for a moments and then my eye caught his face in the crowd on the far east side of the crowd. He was stationed near a wall smoking a cheery red cigarette and fresh blood on his jacket sleeve.

“He’s here. Bring it down near the east side. I’ll pick em up.” I said.

“‘Shit. Bro. How?”

I smiled. “A highly advanced cybernetic bionic eye, photographic memory, plus my OCD is a wonderful benefit to being me. Bring it down. I’m going in.” I said locking his location in my memory.

“Hold on tight. I’m taking it down. Close the door.” She ordered.

I slide the door closed and it locked. Xena raced it away toward a parking space. I started to open the door but it remained locked.

I started to ask her to open the door but Xena was already getting out of the car and leaving my door locked. I glared at her back as she raced away and then flowed into the crowd and disappeared.

Updates and the writing situation and the death of Star Wars…..

Long Live Cyberpunk.

Again, the ride doesn’t end. I remained this blog as battle against my own battles against depression, and my pursuit to take on writing seriously with gusto and my own style of rough blunt dark humor.

That hasn’t stopped. The blog became over my channel breath life into cyberpunk and with the death of Star Wars it has led me to declare Cyberpunk’s time to raise again.

I’ve been in the lab. Cooking up some stuff and working on my career aspects to breath new life into Iron age.

I got a dream. I want more Cyberpunk stories. I want indie artists to create more creative stories. Something or someone has take up creation of brand new art in the void left by the death of Star Wars.

Hey, I’m just a American Bard born in the 20th century in the decades that cyberpunk came into existence.

I’m here too put a fire cracker under the dead and stinking legacy left by the Disney Star Wars era. Ya heard.

XO “Missing runner” Episode 9

Two bodies lay on the ground. Both had uniform jackets on from the company the missing runner worked at. They lay on the city streets right outside the runner business they both had worked at.

I scanned and examined the bodies with my cybernetic eye to see if they were still alive. Nope. By the looks of their bodies they were quickly fading from body heat signatures and marks of violence on their necks and their brutalized faces someone very strong had killed them easily. They were recently terminated maybe ten minutes ago. Things were getting fucked up by the second with this job.

Valkyrie was in the cruiser calling down the authorities. She had been against it but we needed to cover our bases just in case this case was just a front to get us jammed up in a murder humocide.

We needed to wrap this shit up if we could quickly. I looked around taking in the walking traffic walking by igoring the violence on the street. Assholes in beat up old grounded class cruisers drove by totally indifferent to the scene. It was just another normal working night in the red district.

I needed a fucking cigarette. I couldn’t light up a cheery red just because the assholes in the authorities would get on my ass for fucking up their crime scene. Again, I still felt the eyes of Glassgo’s spy on my ass. He had a report to do for Glassgo to review on me or maybe he was waiting for me to reveal a character flaw to use on me. I wished that old man would find some other underground Solo to fuck with out of bordom.

I looked up as I heard the roar of a cyber bike drew closer. The rider was clad in all black and a shining helmet. He had black mirrored sunglasses on and grim look on his face.

I didn’t have to see his name tag to know who the fuck he was. Judge Bran Rafe. The Authorities number one enforcer and the private hitman of King Gino Fish the leader of the authorities.

I straightened up to my feet as he parked on the side of the street. The man had a presense about him. I saw the massive P9 pulse full auto pistol at his side holster hip gunbelt. I heard rumors he had take off more then a few body parts with that thing.

Rafe stared at me and nodded. “Citizen Xander Onyx-.” He began but paused when I shook my head.

“Correction. Solo agent Xander Onyx. I earned my license from His Majesty Gino Fish. Two weeks ago.” I said and slowly reached in my pocket and presented my detapad screen to him showing him my creditionals and license.

The Judge just took a cursory glance at my creditionals. The vizor on his heltmet scanned me and my paperwork. He nodded his head. “Confirmed. Your information is updated now and filed in the justice computer database. Thank you for calling in the scene with the assistance of your partner. What happened?”

I shook my head. “I’m working a case. We came here looking for information. We found the bodies here. I did a scan on their bodies they were terminated a few minutes ago. No witnesses.”

The Judge grunted taking a look around the area with the few people staring at him in fear. When he looked back at me, I could almost see his elemental fire eyes have a slight glow. “You got till sunrise to find him before I do.”

“Okay. Yes Sir.” I said and turned away as he turned away and started toward a few bystanders who were staring at him in alarm as he approached.

I turned and I headed toward the cruiser where Valkyrie was in the cruiser waiting for me.

XO “A Missing Runner” Episode 8

I stared at the profile picture of the kid and frowned at the D8 at the bottom of the image. I wondered about that as I scrolled down the image to get only a passing few details on the man from his typical hobbies of gaming and racing bikes. Not much else.

“So is this kid a new G.E.H. model or one of the old ones on his last leg?”

Valkyrie was silent.

I looked up see her gaze focused intently focused on the skyway ignoring me. She had heard the question.

I scrolled down the entire file and profile with a flick of my finger on the screen and read the file. No mention on what type of G.E.H he was. In fact no mention he was a G.E.H at all.

“How do you know the kid is a tech born?” Valkyrie asked. “Is it your eye?”

“I just made a guess because of the name. It’s a classification for GEHs. So if he isn’t a G.E.H his pack mother most be one. What I read from the file he’s addicted to attending music concerts and cheery Bomb cigarettes. We can start with interviewing his coworkers at the runner station he works out of to get a feel for his pattern.”

“Are you fucking with me?!” Valkyrie asked.

I shook my head. “No.”

“Your a fucking with me. Be honest. How can you make that thought leap?”

“Focus on the job.” I said.

“Tell me, Damn it.”

I snorted. “It’s the name and his eyes. He looks sixteen but his eyes and name tell me he’s at least maybe in his sixties by human standards but by GEH that would still put him in a youngster category. So what are we doing here Valkyrie? Are we hunting for this kid or just trying to find out where he is.”

Silence met my words. She looked away from me and continued driving. “You find em. I’m going to bag him. You don’t need to do anything else.”

Damn it. I thought she was done with his shit but apparently the price tag or something else was going on here. I saw her shaking her head but she wasn’t looking at me.

“Just leave it. I’m not going to explain and you don’t have to over think it. It’s just one job. Where do we start?”

“I just told you. We start with his friends. They’ll tell us what concert he’s going to or whatever trouble he might or might not be into.”

XO “The Glassgo Job” Episode 6

I waited not seeing my ride any where. I wondered about it. I heard man’s heavy foot steps behind. But, I didn’t hear the sound of a blaster being charged up to fire on me. I wondered about that.

“You caused a very big stirr tonight. Mr. Mystery. For what? A trinket in a safe? You missed the gold cards.” Glassgo said behind me.

The hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I gripped the railing for support.

“I didn’t mess anything your Majesty? I took what I came here for. I’m not a greedy man or stupid enough to test my luck with you seeing how easy you made it for me to get into your penthouse. Hmm.”

“What gave me away?” Glassgo asked.

“You haven’t killed me yet. I wonder why?” I said.

“No no. That wasn’t it. Ask a better question. I’ll wait.” Glassgo countered.

“Why let that asshole around your princess? That makes no sense at all. Were you testing him or her? That didn’t sit well with my thinking for how Kings operate in regards to females that belong to their pack. After that. Nothing was right at all about this job to my taste.”

“Finley has been overstepping his boundaries of late and his sudden interest in my daughter has become annoying. Your arrival and whatever you said to her was impressive and got the ball rolling toward me removing him from my daughter’s life. It was very impressive. Would you prefer to be thrown down the stairs or combat ritual killing. Your employers can get the Data drive off your dead body of course. Your pack will receive their payment for the job.”

I laughed. “You are a funny charecter your Majesty. No. I prefer to handle things my own way. Good night to you.” I said before I dove off the side and did a dead man fall to the city street.

I smiled feeling the rush and my heart racing. I started to close my eyes until I saw a black hover cabbie racing up toward me with the passenger door open.

When it got close enough I grabbed a hold on the safety handle inside and pulled myself into the cabbie as the door slid closed and I heard Eddie Williams singing his new song Rage against the Machine Empire on Valkrie’s speaker system.

“Your late.” I said staring at the back dark hair of my partner/sister.

“I had a date with a pretty red head for ten minutes. She couldn’t get enough of me.” Valkrie said with arrogant tone in her voice. “I was listening though to the last bit of the conversation you had with Glassgo. What are we going to do about getting paid?”

“Sell the drive back to the client at double the price or to their competitors. They left out details and tried to do a double cross that’s written in our contract with them in case they decided to play games. Give me my computer?”

Valkrie snorted loudly and slipped me my laptop from the front seat of the cabbie. “I can’t believe you snuck that by them in the contract.”

I smiled. “It pays high dividends to have an ex-contractual writer in your business, sister. Alright. Time to do some research.”

“On clients to sell the data drive?”

I shook my head. “I already have a list of them. Give me a second.” I said searching for the image in of the painting on the virtual cyberspace I found it. It was a map to a location. “What are you keeping in that location I wonder Mr. Glassgo?”

“Xander. You sure it’s a good idea to tango with this Glassgo guy? You said we were in this business for the money and nothing personal.” She reminded me.

I thought about it. I shrugged and closed the search to log onto the black market for another runner job. “Okay. I got a ten minute job in seven hours. Your taking lead. You game?”

“You know it bro. I’m on it.”
