Experiment: Logan Jones (Training begins) Ch10

Logan woke up to scent of warm meat and talk. He opened his eyes to stared up at the ceiling and then he rolled out of bed. He hurried over to the breakfast that had been brought into the sleeping courtiers of the male chosen. Vince along with the twenty others young males were all laughing and eating a table set with food.

Vince of course set at the head of the table. Logan noticed their wasn’t left room enough for him to sit down at and eat. He didn’t care. He merely made room for himself by sliding on the side. He snacked up a bowl and wooden spoon he started dipping his spoon into a steaming pot of beef stew. Once his bowl was filled he snatched up bread and fruit. He started eating fast and casting occasionally glances at the doors.

“Why are you in such a rush Jones?” Vince said loud enough to gain Logan attention. The others quieted down. “We have a good amount of time before we’ll start our first training sessions with the masters.” He said frowning at him.

Logan smiled at him. “It’s a habit from back home. Always in a rush to finish breakfast and get to work. What are you going to be learning today?” He asked attempting to distract Vince. Logan already knew what they were going to be learning.

Vince grinned. “You planning on learning with us today? I thought you had planned on going your own way and all that shit. Strange thing at that. Seeing it’s your first day here and you know as much as we all know about Grim Old.” He said.

Vince’s comment caused a lot of overindulgent energetic laughter from the others at Logan’s expense. Logan continued to eat ignoring the laughter at him and open sneers from the others.

“Well?” Vince asked.

Logan looked at Vince in question. “Well?! Well, what?! Oh sorry. Did you ask me question. I wasn’t listening.” He said.

Vince stared at him as the others laughed at Logan. “We were having a conversation. You forgot that quickly?” He said.

Logan shrugged. “I was bullshitting with you Vince. I don’t give a fuck what the fuck you’re doing to do. I was just trying to make conversation with you to past the time by. Looks like breakfast is over.” He said pointing to the door as it was opened outwardly.

Sargent Jai and two other slave trainers greeted them with a bow of their heads. Jai stood aside and waved them to follow him outside.

“It is time to begin your training. Your trainers will be outside. I will train you in the basics then Trigger and Ran here will help you in practical combat. Now. It is time for our first session.” He said and turned on his heel and walked out.

Logan grimanced as he knew what was going to happen next. He got up at the same time as Vince. He waited as Vince turned and lead the others out. He followed from the back.

So far everything felt like it was going the same way it did. Logan saw the Trainer Zim standing in the fighting ring. Vince and Ed Dent were called to the ring. Logan smiled when he sensed Darla creep up from his right side as he was the last one to step out of the bunk house.

Darla was dressed the same as yesterday but she smelled like fresh flowers and morning dew scents coming from her body. Her hips swayed as she came up to stand close up to him. He slipped his arm around her waist as they walked out together.

“You smell like a good day baby. You get a good night sleep?” He said.

Darla shrugged. “It was pleasant but it would have been better with you in my bed.” She said in that thick Swedish accent.

Logan cupped her behind once and sighed. “That is the most sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me.” He said.

“Why do you react so strangely when I speak simple answers?” She said in a purring voice and direct stare.

Logan had planned to tell her some sweet pretty line. The idea was cast aside in his own head quickly enough. It would only be a waste of time. The truth seemed more time effective.

“Honestly. I like your voice and you have a nice ass. The idea of putting a baby in you sounds fun every time look at your hips. We have no time for that sadly. I will have to settle for bending you over occasionally when we have a moment of privacy.” He said in a private voice to her openly shocked face.

Darla’s cheeks flushed with heat. She stared at him and breathed in his scent. Darla nodded her head slowly. “That is a high compliment you have given me. Thank you. I look forward to you keeping your promise.” She said and intentionally adding a husky whisper to her voice.

Logan’s lips curved into a wolfish grin but he only nodded in answer to her reply. He then turned his attention toward the fighting ring. “Only being honest baby. Let’s see what the heroes are going to learn.” He said.

Vince and Ed faced off against Trainer Zim. It was supposed to be a muck fight but used with real swords. Vince and Ed attacked Trainer Zim with the swords at the command of Jai. They went at it with him.

Trainer Zim beat them away easily at their first attack. They continued the attack on Trainer Zim. The goal was simply to smack him on the shoulder or ass.

Vince was the first to lay a hit on Trainer Zim by using magic to light up the blade of his sword and distract him. He attacked and smacked him on the arm. He didn’t ley up his guard though as Zim sliced at him with air magic.

Vince blocked the attack with his own magic using his blade. He got pushed back and landed on his back.

Ed attacked and sliced Zim’s chest. Ed cursed and held up his hand. “Sorry about that. I went to far. My apologies.” He said with a smile.

Logan had saw the move and knrw it hadn’t been accident. Logan frowned. That was new.

A wizard came up and raising her hand. He pushed magic at Zim and healed his wound.

Zim nodded to her. He turned to Ed. “Again. On guard.” He said.

Ed attacked heatedly while Zim stood still accepting the attacks. Suddenly, he paried a attack and sliced Ed’s chest across the chest twice.

Ed roared and lost his shit. He attacked for blood and then he was dead and headless. Some of the young heroes threw up. Vince stared in dispassionately. Logan frowned shook his head and glanced at Darla.

Darla stared at him. “He was a fool.” She said.

Logan nodded. “Yes. Ed forgot he was facing a trained warrior.” He said.

“Indeed. Hero Logan Jones.” Sargent Jai said.

Logan noticed then that everyone was watching him. Logan grunted. One of the young heroes tried to take a swing at him. Logan chopped him in the throat quickly and kicked him in the chest.

The young hero was coughing and staring at Logan in fear. Logan shook his head at him. “Do ever do that shit to me again. You come at me side ways I go for the win. Remember that.” He said.

Sargent Jai nodded to Logan staring at him differently. “You are correct. You are all being trained for war and survival. There is no safe place or moment to lose your thinking head.” He said and looked around at everyone. “Now. Please respect your trainers. Do not forgot they are trained warriors if you threaten their life you will suffer the same fate as Hero Ed.” Sargent Jai said.

Logan had to give him a nod. Sargent Jai was a bastard but he was smart in the lesson. It served two purposes. To train them to take their lessons seriously and to control the moral perception of what happened.

The wizard that had healed Zim. She bowed to him. “I am Clara of Dans. I am to train you how to heal at level of mastery.” She said.

Logan snorted. Darla drew closer to him. “Are you now? Do you happen to know where Smiths place is near here?” He asked.

Experiment: Logan Jones (Nighttime study) Ch9

Logan couldn’t sleep and he was on edge about what was going to happen in a few hours. He waited until everyone in the sleeping courtiers had fallen asleep. When the time was right he crept out.

The guard at the door was sleep on his feet back leaning against the side of the door. He moved fast on quiet feet. He made his way by memory back the way into the castle up the flight of stairs they had come. He turned to the left and walked quickly toward the library. The castle was quiet. No one was around not that he expected servants to be up or a night watch guard. Logan knew the reason for this.

Logan finally found his way to the library. There seemed to be one man inside. The wizard sat behind a table of writing desk facing the door. A blue magical lamp illuminated his hand as he wrote in a book. Everywhere else was dark in the small library.

Logan noticed how quiet it was. Even when he walked inside he couldn’t hear his own foot steps. He felt eyes on him. Logan ignored the feeling and the possible pair of eyes watching him.

The wizard at the writing desk didn’t look up but Logan knew he noticed him. “I got a question and a favor to ask you?” He said.

The wizard shook his head. “No favors. What is your question?” He said.

“I need to become stronger. I need to read the books here so I can be ready after we leave to face the dark lord.” Logan said quietly.

The Wizard shook his head. “You have trainers. They are more then able too help you in your quest as a warrior. Besides the point the books here would be useless to you. You can’t read magic languages. I have not the months or years to teach you. Go.” He said.

“I can read magic just fine. I just need the means of time to study to improve on my technique. I just need an hour of study time here every night until I leave. That’s all I’m asking for.” Logan said.

The wizard looked up at him. “You can read magic?” He asked.

“Yes. I can.” Logan said.

“I am Weiss. You pick one book to study for tonight. You will not take any book or damage any books while you are here. Do you understand me?” He said.

“Yes Sir. I’ll follow your rules on it.” Logan said and started to move toward a bookshelf near him but Weiss held up a hand forestalling him. “What?! What is it?” He said.

“Wait. For a few moments please. I have to check something.” Weiss said but he didn’t move or rise up from his seat. He stared at Logan without blinking for several moments.

There was moment of silence. Logan felt something in that moment like a quiet magical energy pass through him and then nothing happened.

Weiss nodded his head and looked back down picking his writing pen and went back to his work. “Pick one book for tonight. An hour of reading is what you requested you will be granted nothing more. After you have finished the hour you will return back to your sleeping bed for the night.” He said not looking up and then he proceeded back into that strange silence totally ignoring Logan again.

Logan quietly proceeded to the bookshelf he had come to intentionally. He did make a show of brushing his fingers lightly over the books. He looked over the books shelved. Though he knew what book he wanted. He stopped his hand on that particular book and he pulled it out. An overhead magical lamp light turned on above his head. Logan made sure to keep the excitement from showing on his face.

”Get to your study. You must get your sleep for the busy night that is ahead of you.” Weiss said.

Logan nodded. “Yes. Sir.” He said and started to turn his body slightly away from Weiss’ vision. His heart hammered inside his chest. He looked again at the title of the book.

Introduction of magical weapon transmutation by Grand magi Edgar Hugo Styles.

Logan opened the book and a light emanated from it as Logan felt his skill activated. He flipped through the book’s pages until the end. He then turned back to first page and started reading slowly each page at a time. A smile played on his lips as he read through it for pleasure.

Weiss cleared his throat. Logan put the book back where he took it in the bookshelf. He turned back to Weiss who was up and looking at him.

“I’ll be heading back to the slave sleeping room.” He said.

Weiss held up a hand. “Did you finish reading the book?” He asked.

Logan smiled. “I need a little a couple of more nights until I can understand what I read.” He said with a sheepish grin.

Weiss nodded. “You are honest learner. Four weeks should be enough. I will send you back.” He said and waved his hand and suddenly Logan was facing his bed.

Logan took off his boots got into bed and fell sleep the moment his head fell on his pillow.

Experiment: Logan Jones (A dance in the air) Ch8

The grand dinner that had prepared was like Logan had remembered. A set of long tables were set single file one at a time lined up in a straight line down. Logan sat next to Darla with his hand in her lap and his hand closed around hers. They talked little Logan was busy practicing wind magic tricks at the table and his mind making schemes.

Sargent Jai called an end to the meeting and they were waved off to separate gender courtiers. A male and female slave lead the males off to their respective areas. Logan stopped the male slave Barko a tall man with a magical purple collar around his neck.

“Barko give me a bit of time here before you take me away. I want to try something for ten minutes.” He said.

Barko frowned at him looking toward Jai first. Jai nodded stiffly. Barko then turned back to Logan. “You may do what you desire but we must go soon Hero Logan Jones.” He said in a respectful voice but it was layered with annoyance and his regard for Logan.

Logan laughed in his face. “Thank you for the kindness. I’ll be sure to return it in the future to you.” He said with a grin.

Barko frowned at him in confusion while the others stared between them silently. There was something in Logan’s tone or wording that suggested he meant something else. Logan’s words sounded friendly enough to their ears but the Marksman was a strange one they were beginning to discover.

Logan waved away the female slave named Cin that was towering muscled barbarian. She tried to take Darla along with her to the female courtiers with the others. She frowned at him almost about to ignore him and took Darla’s arm but Darla calmly smacked Cin’s hand away.

Cin snarled but Logan lifted his hand at her pushing her away knocking her off her feet. The slave girl flew back and landed on her ass. She bounded to her feet but she stared as Logan smiled.

“Easy. Darla doesn’t like to be handle by anybody weaker then her. I just need ten minutes Miss Cin and then you can take her away. So relax beautiful.” Logan said in kind voice.

Cin bowed her head to him. “As you wish.” She said in submissive voice.

Logan came to his feet holding out his hand to Darla. She took his hand and then she gasped as she floated up on the air. Logan guided her up into the air.

They started to guide up into the sky hovering over the training area. Darla was wide as Logan stared at her.

Darla’s clothing glowed jade green as they enbraced and then a glow of magical wind shield surrounded them. They became hidden in the shield.

A few seconds later strange sounds and heat emitted from the magic shield. The sound of a female’s heavy breathing followed before a shout of pleasure came from inside the shield.

The minutes ticked by slowly. Until both Darla and Logan finally appeared. Darla’s cheeks were flush and her eyes half closed as a smile was on her lips. They floated down to the ground finally until they stood back on the ground.

Darla breathed a soft sigh of displeasure as Logan moved out of her reach. He smiled at her. “That was fun. Hopefully we can do that again some other time. I’ll see you later.” He said and headed toward the male sleeping courtiers.

Vince stared at Logan in shocked surprise along with everyone else. Logan took hold of his shoulder and guided him along as well to the sleeping courtiers. “Vince. Tell me my friend what was your life back where you came from?” He asked.

Experiment: Logan Jones (Mastering the wind) Ch7

“Have you ever been to Grim Old?” Trigger asked.

Logan knew he had a shorter window then he wanted. He had to move fast. No. He had to learn to do what he needed to know.

“Did you hear me?” Trigger asked again.

Logan shrugged. “Hmm. I had dream of coming to a place like your world once. Today is my first day being here though. What do you need me to do first?” He asked.

Trigger sighed. “I need you to focus on the magical scent coming from me. When I call wind magic, focus on the flow of the magic. Try to mimic it or catch a hold it. Don’t worry if you don’t get it right away. We have several months to get you to a decent level. This is as best as I can explain it. I’m not proper wizard. What was the dream like?” He said.

Logan shrugged. “It was dream. A short dream that left me with a bad after taste in my mouth. Thought plenty of lessons worth the trouble of it. When your ready let’s try it out.” He said.

Logan stood in the fighting area facing Trigger who stood facing off against him. All around him the other people were getting training demonstrations and going through practice runs. Dining tables were being set up to the side and mats placed down for sitting. Dinner was expected to be served in hour or two.

In Logan’s mind he had the timing of the events that would go down tomorrow. Though he knew that those events were still up in air if everything would happened again like it did. The first death would be tomorrow. Slowly the others would come to understand what they’re true purpose was in being kidnapped from their home worlds.

After that Logan would need to move fast to learn what he needed in the library. Harold. No telling what that man would do.

Trigger began to move in a flowing way though it was a set of fighting moves. Logan’s hyper enhanced senses activated. The world around him became out of focus as he began to follow Trigger’s moves in the fighting ring. He noticed Trigger’s breathing pattern and copied it. He began to see the wind magic being summoned from the elements to surround Trigger’s body. The wind magic wrapped around Trigger’s body like blanket. The end result was like a force field of energy around him.

Logan vaguely noticed when that same magical force was around him. He took in the scent of it. It reminded him of a scent of beautiful woman wrapping her body around him. Ready to be taken to pleasure and to the edge of sanity. There was no better place to be for a man. He smiled and felt light on his feet and little high from the feeling.

Trigger stopped suddenly and then he sprang into a back flip. Logan copied moved in time and then they both ended up doing a hand stand on the ground. Trigger dropped to the sand with Logan quickly fell to his side as he followed Trigger to the ground.

The fighting area was quiet for several seconds. Until Logan laughed loudly as he stared up at the sky and clapped his hand. He rolled to his feet facing Trigger who was on his feet as well. He nodded his head to him. “Thank you. I think I got it.” He said.

Trigger bowed to him formally. “It was my honor.” He said.

Logan smiled. “I owe you a favor. Name it.” He said.

Trigger smiled but he shook his head. “Later. Much later. When I will tell you my favor when the time is right. Will you perfect what I taught you?” He said.

Logan wasn’t sure if he needed to but then he thought about how much time he had left. He needed away to use wind magic to his advantage to get what he wanted. He looked down at the sand around him in the fighting ring. He breathed in the wind magic and moved his hand against the sand turning it around until it lifted up. A hand touched his shoulder and he lost focus and the sand fell away.

Logan turned toward Darla to see her staring at him. She stared at him in concern. “Are you well?” She asked in that sexy voice he had come to find enchanting. He reached for her hips and called wind magic around her and used it to lift her up. Darla’s eyes widened as he lifted her over his head.

Darla was in the air her feet barely touching the ground. Logan grin at her. “I’m fine now. You are going to enjoy my new trick tonight.” He said with a wink.

Dago’s Run Episode 0

It was a small crowd of personal relations come to the Potter ranch in memory of the beloved friend, son and father. Emily Potter sat with her mother Mara Potter outside as they gathered together to burn a candle in a special bondfire for James. A seat was set beside her that was empty. It was for her brother but he did not bother to show up because he was busy working in the library working.

James’ staff and peacemaker were set in front of the fire as Neville Longbottom set the flame. The items had arrived suddenly on their ranch two days ago. The last hope they had of seeing James again was lost.

Mara Potter didn’t cry or look sad. She sat quietly angry. Emily was with her to help through the situation and do anything to dangerous.

Ava Potter along with Angus were missing as well for their own reasons. Unknown to anyone but maybe for Neville.

Neville was dressed like everyone their on black robes. He cleared his throat. “James Potter. He was noble friend and loyal companion. He will be missed and his memory never forgotten.” He said and went silent.

It was hard for him along with everyone. Mara nodded. “That’s good. Everyone can go now.” She said before disappearing.

Emily got up. Neville nodded to her. “Go. I’ll handle it.” He said.

Emily went into a apparition and was in the library in Hawks Landing. Mara was standing next to Silver who was standing with his hand to her writing on the board. Emily sighed and walked over.

“What are you working on?” She asked.

Silver turned looking at her. “One of Dad’s problems he was trying to figure out.” He said.

“Magical signature.” She said in surprise.

Silver nodded. “I had a brake through this morning when I woke. I was able to see and feel the magical signature on Dad’s staff. If I can-” He said but stopped when Mara yelled.

He stared at her. Mara glared back at him. “You are not going to use that to hunt down your father’s killers.” She said.

“Dad isn’t dead and dad told us him going missing like this could happen. If and when it did. He told us not to come hunting for him. Magical signature has more usefulness beyond hunting criminals.” He said.

Emily knew he was lying and so did Mara. She stared at James.

“Your grandparents have a much better chance to get your father’s killers.Your father did not want either you or your sister to hunt down anyone that could get to him. Promise me you will not hunt after your father’s killers or I will be locked out of thr library and any resources here.” She said.

Silver stared at her. “You Don’t have the power to do that.”

“I do. I’m still stronger then you and I will have your father’s friends keep you our if you don’t promise me here and now then I will sure you how powerful I am. Sware it to me now.” Mara said speaking a spell as she stared at him.

Emily froze and knew their mother had steppes over the line. Silver stared at her. “I promise you that I will have no personal involvement or will pursue hunting down the people that took my father.” He said.

The spell was cast. Emily looked as Silver rolled up his sleeve a mark was on his skin. He looked up at Mara. She stared at him.

Silver studied her. “The pack is done. If I break it I’m assuming I will lose my ability to work in the library.” He said.

Mara nodded looking pale. “Yes and your magical ability. Keep your word and I won’t ask anything more of you.” She said.

Silver nodded studying her. “That is correct mother. You will have no say or opinion about my life or my choices from now on.” He said.

Mara nodded. “I agree. Will you come to dinner now?” She said.

Silver stared at her. “From now on I think it would best that you don’t come here when I am working. This is my place of work. I will be moving into the tower of the magi today. If your done please leave so I can finish the project my father left undone.” He said.

Mara sighed. “I can stay here and asist you like I did your father.” She said.

Silver shook his head. “You are upset about what happened to my dad. If you stay here you’ll only upset yourself and we would get into another argument. This is my place of work. I have a job to do and I would appreciate it if you respected that. When you want to work again please give me notice of the times you would like to work and I’ll change my schedule so we don’t but heads.” He said in cold emotionless voice.

Mara closed her eyes and took several breathes in and out before she opened her eyes. “Will you come to dinner? We won’t discuss anything regarding your work or life. I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings but this is for your own good.” She said.

Silver stared at her calmly. “I will be down to pack up my stuff and we can have dinner. This is not about feelings. You did what you did. I accept it. I made you a promise and I will keep my word. I am an adult. However, I will not tolerate your disrespect in my work place. This is my world. In respect for my father. I am asking you to leave. I have work to do. The work that my father expected me to do whether he’s dead or alive. It’s the work that will help people and make the world better. You are interrupting my work for the sake of your selfish feelings.”

Mara was pale but she nodded her head with tears in her eyes and blinked them away. “Your right. Your right. I won’t come up here again.” She said and disappeared.

Emily was left with her brother. He looked at her. She held up her hands. “I’m not here to give you any shit.” She said.

He stared her. “I’m trying to finish Dad’s last project. I didn’t come to that funeral because we don’t have a body to bury and thinking about him being possibly dead is driving me crazy. I don’t want to talk about my feelings. I want to work.”

I let my hands fall down. “Show me what you’re working on. What’s the idea you had for using it besides finding dad.” She said trying to lift the mood lighter the last line but his closed off expression showed she had said the wrong thing.

“I promised mother I wouldn’t do that and I have to keep that promise or I’ll lose my magic and working in the one place that reminds me of dad the most.” He said showing her the cursed promise mark.

Emily stared at him. Silver stared at her. “You need to leave.” He said in a tired voice.

Emily flinched back. “I can help you. I worked with dad on the project I can help you.” She said.

Silver shook his head. “No you can’t. You won’t be able to focus. I have to finish this project. I got a lot of work I’ve been lagging behind on but once I’m done with this I can focus on my other work but I can’t do it with you here. I need to focus. You’ll only distract me. Please leave.” He said softly and turned back to his white board picking up his wand and started writing.

Emily stared at his stiff back and saw he was serious. “We’ll talk later.” She said left him alone.

James sighed and kept working. “I know your there. Do you think I’m crazy.” I asked.

A being in form of a beautiful lady appeared behind him and approuched him from behind. She hugged his neck.

“I think you are doing with his Majesty’s departure from our home.” She said.

“That’s not answering my question Lady H.” He said. “I still believe he’s alive. I don’t have any proof of it but I still believe. He’s survived so much and so many battles he has to be alive.”

“So you do have doubts. I know. Your mother was right in one regard. His Majesty didn’t want you to have a warrior’s life. He wanted you to have a happy life and enjoy making things that are helpful. He did warn us that that our enemies could come for him at time.” She said.

“I know. I just. I just want to know if he’s dead or not. But, I probably will never know now. So all I have now is to finish the last project Dad couldn’t finish. He was so happy I graduated and wanted to work with him on it. We were going to work together. That was my dream.” He said.

“He’s still here. This is his favorite place in the world.” Lady H said. “Focus on your work and leave the question of his Majesty to your grandfather to find out.”

James nodded as Lady H disappeared. “That’s what I’ll do. I’ll finish the work.” He said.

James Potter and The Court of Owls Chapter 10

James and Angus had been walking on the road in silence for half an hour. James looked at Angus who seem perfectly at ease.

“Dad. Did you just pick this road for us to have a moment of privacy to talk a bit before we move on to the next location?”

Angus held up two fingers. I nodded. “Not really. There was supposed to be a location out here for us. It’s gone now. So I used this opportunity for me to answer your questions as best as I can. We’ll be moving on to the next location. I’m just waiting a bit trying to get my baring and-”

Angus turned pushing James behind as he drew his peacemaker and fired. An explosion of a fire storm shot out of the noose of his weapon as another blast of dangerous magical energy came racing toward them. Both spells met clashing. Angus stood his ground as the ground shook with the clash of masters contended in a duel for supremacy over the other.

Angus snarled as blood came from his nose. “Damn it.” He said as he started being pushed back and the spell came closer toward them.

James shook head. “Dad.”

Angus shook his head. “I got it.” He said and lifted his other hand that was glowing gold. He pointed two toward his enemy and a circle of light surrounded him.

James stared at him wide eyed. “Holy shit!”

Angus smiled. “Damn straight.” He spoke in an echoing voice before golden flames came out of his weapon punching against the dark magical energy. The golden flames quickly overpowered the dark power. A second later there was a loud scream and the battle was over.

James stared wide eyes at Angus. Angus turned to him holstering his weapon. There was still an afterglow of golden energy around his body as he smiled at James. “That was scary. I’m a bit of energy for the moment we’ll have to walk over toward that jackass that tried to sneak up on us. We maybe able to get something off him that will help us.” He said turning and started walking back down the road.

James was frozen for a few a seconds until his father looked back. He started following after him just then. Down the road they could see a body on the ground dressed in dark robes.

“What the hell was that spell he used?” James asked.

“Avada Kedavra.” Angus said frowning. “He was pretty strong one too by the amount of energy he put into it. Still he was a bit slow on the draw. If he had been faster he would have caught us in the back.”

James shook his head. “How did you know? How? I didn’t even hear him speak it.”

Angus shrugged his shoulders taking out another sandwich from the bag. “Nether did I son. I just felt the spell go off.”
James flinched. “You felt the spell go off?”

Angus nodded chewing on his sandwich. “Yep. It’s something I picked up in part from being unlucky enough to get myself into some dumb situations like this over time so I had to pick up a means of being alert when a spell like that goes off into this realm of existence.”
James frowned at him. “Did you learn it from your master in The Wuixa?

“Yes. Master Chen had interesting way of instructing me toward listening for shift when magic is activated.” Angus said with a grin. “It was not easy learning it.”
James shook his head at Angus. “I don’t understand what I just saw. I thought your weapon just shot fireballs or bullets and then I see you firing off a type Fiendfyre spell and then it changes to golden flames. How?!”

Angus shook his head. “I wasn’t using a spell. It was pure wuixa flame element. It’s the element I can work best through the peacemaker. however lightning element would have worked better just as well.”

James frowned and started to say something but Angus drew out his peacemaker. He followed Angus’ lead pulling out his wand and looking around for danger as they slowly approached the body of the wizard on the ground.

“Why did he attack us like that?” James whispered.

Angus shook his head. “He was probably put here to watch for us and he’s dark wizard. Killing people is what they do best. There are no rules in battle. Be watchful but relax a bit so you can be quick to draw on attacker.” He said as they quickly neared the body on the ground.

“Yes, Sir.”

Angus had the peacemaker aimed at the body frowning at it. He noticed the wand was still in hand of the wizard on the ground. “Your in a lot a pain. I expect. I could relieve you of that pain right quick if you want.”

There was no response. James frowned but kept his eyes darting around. He didn’t know what Angus was about but he kept to his assignment.

“Listen. I don’t fault you for sneaking up on my back door to put me down. It’s the name of the game but you tried to kill my son and good buddy over here. I’m willing to let you go though if you tell me who stole the stone from The Count. I don’t want it personally. This is just a job to me.”
No response.

“I know. I know. Your thinking I’m talking out of my ass but I’m being real with you Mr. Killer. I just want to finish this job and get back to my business and spending time with my son. You’re probably feeling sore about loosing to an American Magi but it is what it is. No fault on your end. I been around. I learned some stuff from the Wuixa.”

The wizard opened his eyes staring up at Angus. “The Wuixa do not welcome outsiders of the West into their sect with your power and name. How did you learn holy light?”

Angus smiled. “My Master Chen taught me. He took a liking to me because I made him laugh and I am a very patient man.”

“Damn you.” The wizard cursed Angus. “Damn you and your entire mudblood family legacy. Your are a disgrace to the pure bloods and magical world.”

“Tell me where your master is and where I can find him or I’ll destroy your wand and leave you here for wild animals or the next passing dark wizards to play with. I’m not leaving without the information. We can do this kindly or I can squeeze the information out of you. I’ll do it. Don’t push me. But besides all that. I won. You lost. It is what it is. You know the rules of the game” Angus said cold.

“Your a liar. You have defeated me. My wand is yours.” He said.

“I don’t want your wand. I don’t need it. In fact I want you to keep. You can work out. Build your muscles and maybe one day you’ll be strong enough to attack me from behind again and or catch me with my pants down on toilet. Then you can pat yourself on back for much of a strong brave pure blood you are.” Angus said and then snorted in to laughter.

James flinched shaking his head. He said nothing but kept his eyes on watch for danger.

“Damn you, Dragon of the West. Damn you to hell. He said I’d never be able to beat you but I had to try. His name is Hector Wells. You can find him in the East Coast City of the Capital of the congress. Now leave me to my failure and disgrace.”

“James. Grab hold.” Angus said holding out his hand he kept his gaze on his target and peacemaker leveled on the wizard on the ground.

James pocketed his wand and grabbed a hold on Angus’ arm.

James Potter and The Court of Owls Chapter 7

All four were seated at a table with James and Angus seated together and Ava and Nickolas facing them. James used to hiding his emotions in front of strangers smiled but he was quiet as the atmosphere felt strange but bot Angus and Ava acted like old friends reconnecting.

Angus turned to Nickolas. “Count. Your letter was rather vague on details of the item that was stolen from you. If you could give me just a little more details on what it is and when you noticed it stolen then I can get to finding the item and the possible thief or thieves that stole it from you.”

Nickolas studied Angus’ face closely and he nodded his head. “Of course I meant the letter to be a little vague being I didn’t want to entirely trust the details the relaying of it into letter no matter the magical protection and wards you have on your owl. Ava if you would be so kind as to present the file to Mr. Potter.”

Ava bowed to him slightly and with a twist of her a few whispered words barely heard her wand appeared in her hand. She spoke barely above a whisper again and a document folder appeared in Angus’ hands.

“Thank you, Ava. Alright. Let’s see what we have here.’ Angus said almost to himself as he unfolded the document and started quickly scanning the contents humming lightly. He stopped on one page frowned and brought it out. It was large page moving photo of private home museum that was wrecked while men in dark scarlet trench jackets looking around the area scanning it with their wands.

“How many Aurors do you have on your case currently?” Angus asked carefully.

“I have five. A great many value items and relics of the past were taken from my private collection. None as important as the one you will be seeking and the wizard and killing for the annoyance he has caused me.” He said firmly.

The Count glanced at James. “Mr. Potter. I found it very odd that your father introduced you as James Potter. Yet, your mother has referred to you as Harry Potter. A name sake of your ancestor the one lived and slayer the Dark Lord.”

James was used to this type of behavior. “My father named me James Potter Heir to the house of Potter, defender of the old true ways, The last Hallow of the past.. So that is my official house name and title. My mother can call me whatever name she pleases. It is her right. It is the name she gave me in respect to my ancestor and her hopes for me becoming a great Auror as my ancestor was in his day.”

He said speaking in calm tones. Though his voice didn’t carry the same echoing power as his father it was clear and direct.
The Count nodded stiffly and tried for a social smile. “Yes. Yes. I did forget that his career in the ministry as a Auror had been impressive after his defeat of the Dark Lord. Would you or your father care for a drink or something to eat before you and your father head off to your task for me?”

James looked at his Angus was smiling but shaking his head at The Count. “My apologies, Count but we’ll have to get going so we can handle your case.” He said.

The all started to rise from their seats. The Count shrugged and waved them outside back the way they had entered the restaurant. “I will live you to it then. Oh. I do apologies if the announcement of my engagement to Ava came as a surprise to you Mr. Potter.” He said addressing Angus.

Both James and Ava looked toward Angus. Angus shook his head. “No need to apologies Count. Ava is her own woman and entitled to her own happiness. I wish you both well.” He said with nod of his head. “We’ll be off then.”

James felt it again. Unease. He glanced at his mother one last time to her smile. “Mother. I will see you soon.” He said and leaned toward her.
Ava met him half way the distance and he kissed her cheek. “I love you. Obey your father.” She said to him.

James nodded. “I will. I love you to.” He said and followed Angus out the way they had come in.

Angus wrapped his around James pulling him close while James notice his father hand a hand on his peacemaker. His father shook his head. “Close your eyes son. Nothing bad is going happen to you.”

James obeyed and they went into apparition. The feeling twisted apart to being pulled into yourself was worse because short period he had to rest his mind from it but soon enough they were somewhere else. James forced his eyes opened as Angus took his hand leading him into a store front shop.

James head hurt but kept quiet about it because seemed physically upset about finding out about Ava’s engagement. “I didn’t know mom was getting married.”

“She isn’t getting married, son.” Angus said in a distracted voice going to the front of the store and started looking around the small bookstore.
James froze. “What do you mean? Your not going to do something to him are you?”

Angus looked at him and shook his head. “What?! Of course not. Son. Listen. We’re going to finish this job as fast as humanly possible send the item to that jackass by Owl and hopefully your not going to be connected to anything related to him. Remember son. You only met that man once in passing. We have nothing to do with him and ill feelings for him. Understand?!”

James stared at him. “Dad. You looked you were going to kill him.”

Angus snorted and shook his head. “Son. I don’t care about that little shit. He’s an obvious jealous hater and an annoying fan boy still whining and moaning about his idol being blasted to hell by my grandpa when he was seventeen. What a joke?!” He said laughing loudly.

James stared at his father and then burst out into laughter. “Dad. You can’t be serious.”

“Son. Riddle’s fanboys always call him the Dark Lord or refer to us as the descendants of the slayer of Dark Lord. They never call it for what it is. They all have the same damn pattern. They simply just don’t get.”

“What is it then?” James asked paused in middle of his laughter.

Angus had that glint in his eyes and stared at his son with a spark gaze and a funny grin on his lips. “Tom Riddle was a middle aged psycho that had been taken out by a seventeen year old wizard because he was a loser. His fanboys can’t accept the facts. Grandpa Harry beat him in the duel but Albus Dombledore and Severus Snape assassinated his ass with a daring nerve and a cunning planning.”

James nodded silently and patted his chest with his fist at the same time Angus did in memory of the true heroes that saved the wizarding world in the last war. He looked around the book store in question. “Why did you bring us here? Where are we by the by.”

“London!” Angus grinned. “Where here to get some information and visit an old friend while we have the time.”

“What’s noise?”

They turned to the back to see a two elderly females one with wild orange and gray long hair with large glasses on her in brown dress on and her companion a slim woman with blond hair and gray blue eyes that studied them both in surprise.

Angus grinned coming over as they’re stared at him in shock. “Aunty Hermione. You’re looking good. I wasn’t expecting to see the wonderful Luna with you as well. I’m back.” He said coming over to them.

They cried hugging and laying kisses on his face and head as they cried. James stood in place surprised and not knowing what to do. Though he hadn’t met his great great aunt in-law before he had met Luna.

Luna looked over at him and put a finger to her lips giving him a wink and waved him over. James nodded and quickly over to join in the greeting.

James Potter and The Court of Owls Chapter 5

Angus had finished up repairs for the day on the front of the house and then he headed to his workshop at the back of the house. James had made himself and his father two beef sandwiches and two bottles of butter beer and carried them out to Angus on a large platter.

Angus’s workshop used to be a barn he had later converted into armor and workshop to build his weapons. The large doors were open as Angus stood by his work desk cleaning his weapon. Angus had on a leather apron and a genuine smile on his face as he saw his son.
“Hello. Sandwiches on your birthday for your old man. You must have something big to ask me.” He said with a grin. He took one of the sandwiches when James offered it to him and bite into it and nodded his thanks to his son.

“Alright son. What’s on your mind?” Angus said after finishing his sandwich in four bites and opening his bottle of butter beer.
James smiled. “Several things. I got questions though before I ask you.”

Angus shook his head. “Just ask me. It’s the happiest day of my life. So take advantage of the situation.” He said.
James nodded. “Okay. Ah. I want to become as powerful as you are. Can I be your apprentice?” He asked.

Angus put his bottle down and grabbed his son in a tight bear hug and patted his back. “You just made my day even brighter. Of course. Of course. It would be my honor to teach you my craft.” He said and pulled away to grin at his son. “Okay. Give me your questions.”
James stared at his father. “That’s it?”

Angus nodded. “Yeah. That’s it. We’ll get started today and by the time you reach my age you’ll be stronger then your old man when I become a gray beard. Go head ahead ask me your questions. I’m all game for answering you if I can.” He said with a chuckle.
James very much doubted that he would be stronger then his father when Angus advanced to a gray beard in power. Though he was smart enough not to say it. He smiled. “Why did you stop using your wand?”

Angus lost a bit of the light in his eyes at the question but he nodded. “I had a wand at one point when I was a wizard. I’m a magi now and my profession is weapons smith.”
James frowned. “Was? Dad you still are a wizard. I saw you use magic.”

Angus shrugged leaning back against his work desk and crossing his muscled arms across his broad chest. “I’m an American magi now but to answer you question I lost it in a duel. So I had to figure out another way of living. I traveled around spent some time in the wuxia and got a part time job here from an old soldier friend of mean.”

“The Wuxia?” James frowned tapping a finger to his chin. “I know that name from somewhere but I can’t remember. Who are they?“

Angus sighed. “The wizards of the far east as western Wizards call them. Wuixa is their proper name. They taught me a bit of the ancient ways before I came here and my friend helped me buy my ranch and get some employment going to start my weapons repair, trade and customizing business. Anymore questions.”

James pursed his lips. Angus snorted in laughter. “Come on son. Give them to me.”
James grinned. “Okay. Obvious question why didn’t you get a new wand?”

Angus sighed shrugging his shoulders. “Once a wizard loses his wand well you know.” He said shaking his head.
“Buying or winning a new wand isn’t the same. Wand chooses the wizard. So I had to let it go and search for another means of making magical contract of channeling.” He said and then picked up his butter beer to take another drink.

James frowned and studied his father. “What do you mean by magical contract of channeling?”

Angus held out his hand. “Can I see your wand for a bit. I’m not claiming it and this is not a duel.” He said.
James frowned at him but he took out his wand and passed it over to his father. James felt the wand come alive in Angus’ hand.

“Easy now. Calm down. I just want to teach your master a bit of knowledge. I don’t need your kind. The peacemaker chose me.” Angus said.

James stared as he realized Angus was talking to the wand. “Dad.”

Angus held up a finger. “You feel it don’t you. That easy feeling the wand is having just being held in my grasp. Have you ever let any of your girlfriends at school hold your wand?”

I shook my head. “No and I don’t have girlfriends I just have girls I’ve been interested in before. One my friends and professor Longbottom have held my wand before. It never reacted like this. Can I have my wand back?”

Angus handed it back to him with a nod of his head. “That was another issue for why I don’t use wands anymore. A funny thing. Wands know I don’t need them anymore. Anymore questions though.”
James started to shake his head but looked at the hybrid weapon on the work desk. “What is that?”

Angus glanced at his weapon. “Looks like a mogul weapon of war to me. It’s a engineered copy of a non-magical weapon. I call it 1911SC or the peacemaker for short.”

James shook his head. “It’s not just a simple copy of non-magi weaponry is it?” He said and started to reach for weapon as it glowed ruby red but Angus caught his wrist stopping James from touching it. He looked at his father.

Angus shook his head. “Your right. The peacemaker isn’t non-magi at all and neither is it a wizard kind hybrid. Remember the wand chooses the wizard. The reverse is true for this weapon. The magi chooses the peacemaker but it’s a mutual partnership. Do you wish to be a great powerful wizard?”

“Yes. I do. I’ll do whatever it take to achieve my goals. I must become a great wizard.” James said.

Angus smiled and quickly picked up his weapon and holstered it at his side. “Good. I can teach you what I’ve learned and help you become a great wizard.”
James picked up his sandwich and took two large bits from it suddenly feeling very hungry all of a sudden. A question suddenly came to him as Angus grinned at him.

“Are you a wuxia master? What is the far east magical world like?”

Angus’ pursed lips shook with held back laughter. “It is a wonderful place. I am not a master by any means it would take me well over a hundred years before I achieved the level of my former master Zhao Chen. If you do well in your training over next six months then I will take you to see Chen and do a bit of exploring in the hidden temple in the hidden forest. Is there anymore questions you got because I got two questions for you now.”
James had dozens or so questions swimming in his head but he wasn’t in rush now. He was free from school now and he had time to ask his father as many questions as he wanted. “I have dozens more questions but you can ask me your questions.”

Angus nodded. “So ah you got a girl your interested in?”

James chewed on his food a little before speaking. “Ah yeah. I talked my marriage plans over with mom and sense it is important event for the family to decide for myself-”

“So you do have a girl?” Angus said.
James flinched back frowned. “I didn’t say that.”

Angus chuckled. “I heard the sub text in the middle James. I was your age. I knew your mother was the one for me in 2nd year. I never let up until she accepted the fact. Okay you don’t have to tell me who she is yet. No. Don’t lie. I know when your about to lie. Second question what are you going to do for a living?”
James pursed his lips. “I plan to gain power like you and I have political aspirations to become the president.”

Angus nodded. “Continue.”

“I’m going to work for mom in her company in her magical spell engineering in between my training with you and my drive to gain power both politically and martially.”

Angus held up a finger. “Always remember son. Whether you choose to marry your girl or the one your mother chooses it just ain’t going to be a simple thing for you. I understand your reasons for keeping her hidden but eventually you’ll have to tell your mother. Two, I expect you to do your best while working for your mother. Don’t coast by on your ass or what your great great grandfather did. Do your best. Make your own legend. Three, you go for political power you have no friends but your family. One slip up and it’s over. So be sure of what you want. Position means nothing if the power behind the position isn’t yours by right. No one can give you power.”

James nodded. “Mother says you will be the most powerful wizard in the following decades when you come into your full power. Is this true?”

Angus shrugged. “I don’t know what will happen in the future. There are many powerful wizards and magi in the world.”

“Are you one of them?” James pushed.

“Yes.” Angus answered.

“Why aren’t you the president then? Why haven’t you taken control over America?” James asked.

“I don’t need the position. I already have power.” Angus said and stared at his son. “Power is power. No position can grant you that. You to have power first. It cost me a high price to learn what my father and brothers failed to learn. I’m telling you this now so that when someone comes to you and offers you a devil’s bargain for your soul you will know the proper response.”
