Blue Technomancer CHAPTER 14

A loud explosion in the night awoke Beau from his sleep. He looked around the room for Rider. Rider’s cot was empty but for a piece of paper.

He got up quickly going over and taking the piece of paper. It was a short message.

Beau felt a weird feeling. He rushed out of their tent and hurried out to where a small crowd of their people were gathering around a smoking area.

He saw the body. Rider was black. Burned to near ash.

There was complete silence and then a loud wailing came from someone. Beau didn’t look at E as she went crazy. Crying out from her soul in pain.

Beau just stared at his friend. His brother. He had failed him. He had fought hard and tried his best to avoid this day from happening and it still happened. E had been right. She had warned him Rider was close to losing it. She had begged him to turn down the job.

First Angel and now Rider.

“Fucking hell.” He said finally.

E roared fighting her way out of the people holding her and went at him beating him with her hands and then trying to choak him finally until he gathered her in his arms. She roared curses at him still trying to fight him as he cried.

“I told you! I told you!” E said in a bitter voice.

Beau said nothing as he stared at his friend on the ground. He felt emptied out of all the hope and energy.

……

Beau shook himself out of his day dreams of Rider’s death a day ago to focus back on the conversation between him and Major Benjamin on Skype.

“Lucas. I know your having a tough time right now but you need to get your head on straight. You can not turn down this job offer. I’m sorry about your friend but you really need to consider your own future.”

Beau shook his head. “I’m out. I can’t abandon my people right now.” He said. “Rider’s death….it hit everyone here hard. We need time to-“

“You are all out of time. Vlad’s children are to be taken in to military trusted hands and your people and their children will be shipped to Baltimore within the hour.”

Beau stared at Major Benjamin. “Vlad’s kids we’re given into my protection. I promised him before I killed him that they would raised among his own people. My people.”

“The children are wards of the state and American citizens as are your people. The military will be there with in the hour to take them all. Lucas. Don’t think about doing anything stupid. You-“

Beau turned off the feed and fell down in to a seat. His legs hurt and he couldn’t think beyond the consent pain he was in. It was to much. He was losing to much all at once and now Vlad’s children would be under the control of the government.

“You can’t fight them.” E said behind him.

He couldn’t look up at her. The shame and guilt he felt was to much. “Why didn’t you tell him?”

E sat down and felt around blindly for something on her desk. Beau stared at her. “What the fuck is wrong with you? It’s not that dark in here.”

E shook her head. “I didn’t love Rider.”

“Bullshit.” Beau spat.

“I didn’t love him.” E repeated. “Rider belonged to me. We fit one another. He just wasn’t able to accept it. He only just lost his wife six months ago. You lost. Is this a dream?”

Beau looked up at her as she aimed a glock at his face. “Yes.”

“Good.” She said before firing the gun in his face.

Beau and E sat down in her hospital office drinking wine alone after Rider’s funeral. A flash of light brightened the room and then several government agents and mercenaries appeared in the room. All armored and weapons at the ready aimed at them. Beau looked at the leader in the room.

“Sir. What’s this about?”

The man frowned at him. “Set your weapon down on the table. We came here to talk.”

“Okay. What’s this about, Major Benjamin?”

“You and Doctor E need to come along with us to a secure location. You are to be detained for your protection.”

“I’m not going anywhere with you without a warrant.” E said.

“You didn’t answer my question Major. I want to speak to your commanding officer.” Beau said.

“It’s simple son. To many lose ends have to be cleaned up before things can get back to normal on the Surface. Sorry but you and the doctor are the ones that didn’t keep your promises and handled your end of the bargain. You have information we need. The others have already fallen in line and disbanded your army here.”

Beau flinched back. “Army?! Sir. We don’t have an army here. We’re just survivors. We’ve been waiting six months to get out of this city and we’ve been protecting the folk here so they could get out finally in one piece.”

Major Benjamin shook his head. “The president and the military don’t see it that way. Besides the fact you didn’t come good with your end of the deal you made with the government you got to much power in your own right and influence with the people here. Your the reason some of them are staying just to look out for you.. Are you coming with us or not.”

Beau looked at E. She shook her head. Beau sighed and looked back. “We’re staying here.” He said.

The soldiers unloaded on them instantly. Killing E behind him and taking him down to the ground and hail storm of bullets until one of the mercenaries shot him with a blast of fire and lightning from his mouth.

Beau stared feeling his body die and then finally. He felt Angel let go his hand and release him from the hell.

Blue Technomancer CHAPTER 13

“Shit. Angel. Let me out me out of the dream baby girl. Let me out.” Beau yelled out. He got no response.

Beau ran over to the side of the building and jumped off the side only to land on the roof again. A chill went down his spine. Angel was forcing him to stay in the dream.

“Angel. Let go of my hand. Angel let go right now.” He said.

Nothing. The dream still held. Damn it he would have to see this one through to the end point.

Beau felt a sense of vertigo as he blinked and realized he stood on a platform with Rider and three other blue mutant New Yorkers as the President took the podium and addressed a small crowd of the Blues and a few normal humans. He was having another spell because of the pain in his legs and injured arm. Luckily that was over.

He smiled along with the others standing with him. He looked at the president.

“It’s been a long hard road for us as Americans and earthlings. But, today marks a new stage in our course correct to get back to the business of living.”

Beau half listened. It was all the show part.

They had made it. It had taken his friends and people six months of work but they had bartered a deal with the U. S. Government to get their people out by the reopening of New York City to the outside world.

His eyes looked out out over the small crowd of his friends and people he had grown to know as his family. One person was missing and one seat left empty between Jay and Freya Newton.

Angel.

Beau blinked back the tears and tried not to think of her. She should be here. She would have been here if he had made the choice to save her while he could have. Jay and Freya glared at him in animosity and hatred.

He had had no choice. It had been for greater good of them all. That he had chosen to take out Vlad and his son then….

Beau realized what he thought and looked back over his memory from a few days before….

What the fuck?

Beau kicked opened the door and fired his assault shotgun into the room killing Vlad, his children and wives. He had taken fired once executing Vlad dropped his weapon and raced up stairs to the roof with the gang and Vlad’s sons firing rounds into his back as he barely made it to the roof and dove off into the waiting arms of Rider who was floating in the air waiting to pick him.

The memory hit Beau like a shot gun shot to the face and left him shaking at the strong memory of it. He remembered the violence and smell of blood and rush of violence he felt. The crash afterward had left him wanted to vomit afterward.

No. No.

Beau shook his head he couldn’t have done that he wouldn’t have. That was going to far. He blinked tried to replay or remember the day better in the dream. It only got worse.

First it was Vlad and his family then it was Vlad, his family and Rider. Beau stopped looking back and realized it was no good.

When the fuck was this nightmare going to end?

Major Benjamin clapped Beau’s shoulder. Beau blinked up at the older man. “Sir. I’m sorry you were saying.” He asked.

Major Benjamin smiled. “I’m just glad to hear your joining up with my unit on the Supers West division. I’ll be making you team leader.” He said.

Beau nodded but frowned. “I thought Rider would be a natural-“

“No. Rider is a bit of wild card. We’ve already given him a temporary contract for hire to handle our dangerous situation.”

Beau blinked and started to speak but E caught his arm and jerked him away from the Major.

“Excuse me. Major. I’ll be right back.”

Major Benjamin grinned but nodded. “Take your time.”

Beau jerked his gaze to her E. “What the fuck is wrong with you?” He said.

“You need to talk to Rider. He’s worrying me. He’s to fine with all these changes.” E said tightly.

“He hasn’t said anything to me yet. He’s going to be working for the government again freelance but he’ll get some work to do.”

“You need to reconsider the government’s offer. Rider and our people need you around. Have you heard of the ghettos they have lined up for us. Their in Baltimore’s high crime areas.” E said.

Beau grimaced but nodded. “I know. We’ll make it work. I’m not abandoning our people. I need to take this job to us a high position in the government to help them.” He said.

“Your acting delusional. Talk to Rider and keep an eye on him tonight. He has to be watched. Losing True Steel and Artemis really as been affecting him a lot lately. He needs you. Promise you’ll watch him.” E said.

“I promise. Nothing is going to happen to him. I’ll talk to him and reassure he’s still got us to back him up.” Beau said though kept wondering. When the in living hell would Angel let him out of the nightmare cycle of hell point possible futures he was in. None of this shit was real but Beau knew if he was seeing the possibilities of what the future could be then he was screwed.

Blue Technomancer CHAPTER 12

Beau finally made his way to the emergency roof top and took his position on the roof of the office building. He set his rifle case down focused his gaze on Vlad’s building as he started to load his rifle but he heard a sound behind himself. He turned with his 1911’s drawn.. Beau stared in surprise at his target.

Vlad Morgan was a tall Russian American dressed in a blue blazer suit that matched the the tint of his hair and eyes.

“Good morning Vlad.”

Vlad held up a wine glass with orange juice in his hand. He took a sip. “Good morning Technomancer.”

“It’s Lucas. You weren’t behind me a few seconds ago and you can’t fly. So how did you manage that trick?” Beau said.

“Your impressed.” Vlad asked him.

Beau smiled. “Yes and I’m thinking about how to steal your trick.” He said.

Vlad nodded and leaned back against something invisible behind him. “Take a guess. I’m sure you can figure out if you think about it.” He said.

Beau looked around then found the projector sending the image of Vlad to him. He frowned and bent down to put his rifle away. “I’m guessing you found out about the message the government sent to my people.”

“Bingo. Technomancer. One of my kids has a similar ability as your young friend. Angel. I believe is her name.”

Beau sent him a glare. “It would better if you disappeared a while before I would have to take you out.”

Vlad smiled. “Your reluctant, huh? You are a strange one, Technomancer. I have no intention on leaving my city.”

Beau stared at him. “The President wants you dead for whatever crimes you committed. You stick around long enough I’m the one assigned to make it happen.”

Vlad nodded. “So the supposed the United States leader is planning on taking back the city and unstable country in one move. You and Rider will be out of the hero business afterwards and you’ll be shipped off to soldiers in their new slave warriors division. Though then again with the powers you have they might just put a bullet in you.”

Beau hadn’t heard of anything relating to what Vlad was saying. He suspected it was all bullshit but he wasn’t much surprised by anything anymore. “You should think about your kids and females and find some way to get out before I have to make them orphans.”

Vlad stared at him. “It’s not the same world brother. No matter what deal they’ve given you. You’ll only end up screwed over. It’s been what? Six months sense they locked us away in this city. Now they’re deciding to let us out you think it’s that easy.”

Beau shook his head. “Never said I was expecting they would accept us. They’ve got the power. If you stay here. You die and your kids are left for someone else to protect. Think about your kids.” He said.,

“I am.” Vlad said. “I know what’s happening outside this city. I know what the president has in mind for us. I’m not going to be shipped off to some fucking ghetto after what I made and the comfortable position my kids are in to have that all taken away because the bitch in the white house is afraid of the blue skin folk.”

Beau was quiet. He could see Vlad couldn’t be convinced by anything he said. He was to far invested in what he was doing to back down.

“Whatever happens I’ll try my best to look out for your kids.” Beau said.

Vlad grimaced. “You should be more concerned about Angel’s well being then trying to kill me.” He said.

“She’s a child. She’s off limits.” Beau said calmly.

“Not me. It’s her powers. It’s the one thing that doctor of yours didn’t tell you. The more you use her powers to see your own future the more you can expect her life span to be shorter then yours. I can help her find the answer to controlling her powers.” Vlad said.

Beau smiled. “I already know that slick. You’re not telling me anything I don’t know already.” He said.

“Did you your the reason she’s dying? It’s your powers that making her go into over load. I have the solution to it. If you work with me.” Vlad said.

“Tell me.” Beau demanded.

Vlad smiled and nodded. “I was right about you. Your way more reasonable and honest then the others. I’ll contact you later when your ready to make a deal.” Vlad said before his protected image faded before him.

Beau caught a building flickering in the distance. He got up and then thought about how he had gotten to the building’s roof. He couldn’t remember when he had gotten to the roof top or anything else.

He realized. He was having a premonition dream of the future. Angel. she had locked him in vision bubble.

Blue Technomancer CHAPTER 10

Beau was sweating heavily as he lay on concrete floor. Pain spiked through his body from his thighs. He had a bottle of Jack Daniels half empty next to him with bottle cap on. He stared up at the ceiling. His communicator buzzed next to him. He ignored it for four buzzing until he finally snatched up from the floor and pushed the green botton.

“What’s the problem?” He said.

There was a long pause. “Your in pain.” E said over the communicator. “How bad is it?” She asked.

“What’s the problem?” Beau repeated the question again.

“Artemus is missing. The President sent us a care package offer. We need you here. I can get Rider to find her if you need an hour to get your body ready.” E said.

Beau laughed tiredly. He needed a least a day of rest. “Rider and Artemus don’t get on well and you’ll only get jealous if they’re together. I’ll find her. Give me another hour to find her and get her to the spot.” He said and ended communication with her.

Beau had to push himself to a sitting position but he fell back several times until he was able to get himself up fully and then with a wave his hand his legs attached to his sore stumps. The pain spiked threw him and he grabbed up the bottle downing the rest a little of the liquor and popping in two pills into his mouth. Tears flowed from his eyes because of the intense pain he was undergoing currently. He wiped them away harshly with a rough hand. He glared at himself.

“Come on man. Hold it together. Just a little longer. Your close. Your close to getting them out. Keep it together just a little longer. You got it.” He said.

Beau got up with a loud snarl and groan. He stood sweating and limped over toward his mirror and basin. He looked at his face pale blue face. His eyes were red and his face sweaty. He looked like shit warmed over. He washed himself off slipping on a hoodie and he focused as his helmet slipped on and hid his face.

He straightened up and looked at his wrist watch. “Artemus location.” He said.

The wrist watch expanded out with a digital map of the city area. A location coordinates popped up. He held out his hand and his pistol came to his hand. He walked over to his coat rack and slipped on his gun his gun holster and put his pistol on and then his jacket. He walked over to door with lock on it and waved a hand over it and it opened.

Beau opened the door and slipped out into the darkness. His mask had a night vision quality to it and helped. He started out and then blinded into his surrounding as he kept off away. He walked quickly and kept going to the location he had in mind.

He came into a gang war between two rival mutant gangs. He crept around the fight until he found where Artemus was being held kept depredated destroyed car. A huge man was working over and attempted to take her clothes off. He was having a hard time. A dark glow of energy was around his body.

Beau took out his pistol and shot the bastard in the back of the head. He shoved the body aside with his boot as he reached for Artemus but shoved him back taking his pistol from him and fired it at Beau’s head. One round hit his head not harming his head but the impact gave him a headache instantly.

She stared at me shaking. I sat on the floor staring at her. “Artemus. We got them to reach out to us. I know it’s hard but I need you to keep it together until we can get our people out of here. Hold it together. You don’t need to die here. You got a future. We have our plan. We’re close.” He said.

Artemus laughed softly. “What are you going to do when you get out.” She asked.

Beau was going to die or become a drunk but he didn’t want to say that out loud. He saw Artemus go still she finally lowered his pistol and held it out to him. Beau shook his head and help up another pistol in his hand. “Keep it to remember me. It’s a new type.” He said.

“Your the best of us Techno. You know the play. We’re using you to get the normals to finally let us out of this hell.” She said.

Beau shook his head getting to his feet. “Don’t give me that bullshit. I got nothing in this world but you and our people. Take care of our people when you get out. Rider is going to need the most watching. E is going to be working hard on a solution to save him. Don’t worry about me Artemus Just take care of my friends. Please.” He said.

“Shit. Okay. Okay.” Artemus said.

Blue Technomancer CHAPTER 7

Beau stared at Jackie in confusion. His heart started beating against his chest as he stared at the one person he loved the most in the world as she stared at him like he was a monster. “Jackie. It’s me. I know I look different but I’m still me.” He said.

“I don’t know who the fuck you are. Don’t touch me, freak. FUCKER! You lied to me. Your not Beau. Your just a fucking freak!” Jackie screamed at him and spat in his face.

Beau stared at her in shocked awe. He couldn’t believe what was happening. It was the second shocker to his life. “I’m Beau Lucas. Your high-school sweetheart. We grew up together in Texas. We lost our virginity together in the backseat of my Daddy’s pickup truck on my 16th birthday. Jackie. It’s me.” He said.

Jackie shook her head. “No. Beau is dead. I watched him die in my arms. He was speared with a steel bar. Get the fuck away from me you lunatic freak.” She said.

Beau tried to hold her but she clawed his face with her nails. She screamed at the pain holding her own hand. She glared at him.

“Your not Beau. Your just some crazy lunatic pretending to be him. He’s dead. I saw him die with my own eyes.” She said.

Beau turned to Rider. The other man stared back at him before turning to Jackie. “My friend is a little sad about losing his fiancée. You kind ah look like her. Sorry if he scared you. She died in his arms too. You can go now.” He said.

Jackie softened looking at Rider’s handsome face and believed him. Beau turned his back on them.

“Oh. Well. I can understand but-” Jackie said and Beau could hear that intimate purr to her voice that let him know with shock that she wanted to have sex with Rider then and there.

“You can leave now.” Rider said in cold voice devoid of any warmth now. “I’m sure you have a family to get to and your boyfriend’s family will want to hear about what happened to him?” Rider said dismissing her.

Beau said nothing. If he couldn’t convince Jackie he was who he was there was no way in hell his family would believe him. He had known Jackie all his life. Just like that he knew. He could never go home again. It was over for him.

“Oh. Yeah. Thank you all for rescuing us. What’s your name by the way?” Jackie said.

Beau felt sick hearing rising sexual interest in her voice directed at Rider. She was totally ignoring Beau completely like he was a strange or another fixture in the room like a lamp or table.

“My name is Rider. Your free to leave. Please go home to your people. Try your best to get out of the city it isn’t safe right now for people like you. My two friends will guide you out and protect you until you get back to your people. Goodbye.” He said.

“The fuck we will and we ain’t your friends asshole. Yo. Blue Techno wizard fuckhead.” Eddie cut in. “Get this fucking collar off my friend. A deal is a deal.” He said.

Beau snapped his fingers and the collar fell off easily from around Vince’s neck. “You take the ladies out to safety I’ll do right by you. The Doctor is in central park. I hear they came to harm on your watch I’ll be on your ass. You get me?” He said.

“Fuck. All you black dudes are all the same. Alright. Come on Vince.” Eddie said.

“Oh. Thank you. I’m sorry about hurting your friend. I-” Jackie said but she paused saying nothing. Beau looked at Rider to see a look of disgust on his face.

“Goodbye Miss Daniels.” Rider said dismissing her.

“Goodbye then. Thank you for rescuing us.” Jackie said.

Jackie started walking away following Eddie and Vince. Beau didn’t turn to watch her go. Rider came up beside him and stood with him looking at the city as most of it was still on fire and they heard gun shots and screams.

“I got some news from Doctor E. She did some tests on me. She says I have a couple more years until my body explodes from the alien energy. I don’t know how long it will take before the army and government to get shit back to normal. I figure I will keep going until they take their sweet time to getting to it.” He said in a tone that carried little emotion about it.

Beau nodded. “You got some time to keep your promise to your brother. She say anything about me?”

“Your condition is stable but she’s worried about the psychological effects this shit will have for you long term. I have a condo and some money in a safe. It’s yours when I go. Sorry I can’t be much help to you otherwise. You helped me out greatly I appreciate it.” He said.

“She didn’t recognize me. I told her everything I knew about her. She just acted and looked at me like I was a freak.” Beau said staring at nothing now as he felt a coldness creep up inside of his body. His soul felt scared and he was broken now completely.

“The same way she looked at me.” Rider said.

Beau turned to glare at Rider only to see him looking at his scared glowing forearms in disgust.

“She wanted to fuck you, Rider. She would have let you fuck her if you had been alone.” Beau said angrily.

“She knew who you were Beau.” Rider said softly.

“What?” Beau said acting like he didn’t hear him.

“I heard her lie about seeing you die. I saw her shaking her head and acting like she couldn’t hear you telling her facts only you could know. She knew. She just pretended not to understand or hear you. She looked at you the same way she was looking at me.” He said looking up at Beau. “She was just using me to ignore what happened to you and the fact she ran away leaving you to fucking die like the coward she is. I’ve seen that look on people’s faces enough over for the last few days to know rejection. No matter how many I’ve saved it don’t matter. I’m still a freak to them. It’s only lucky I’m not doing this job for them.” Rider said.

Beau stared back at his glowing eyes and scared face. He saw a broken man haunted by the nightmare of the hell he was still enduring. Barely. Only one thing could pull him on and not think of the pain of loss and knowledge he had a ticking time bomb in his body. Rider had no family or future only one thing could keep him going. A promise and a will to keep on fighting until you had nothing left.

Beau understood now. Rider was a man that lost everything and he couldn’t see a way forward or had a future. All he had was a fight and a promise to keep. Beau he was maybe going to live past this shit and go on or die in a few hours. He looked out over the city hearing cries for help and fires burning. It was a war before him. He was a warrior.

“Let’s get to work, brother. We can sleep when we’re dead.” Beau said turning up his hoodie and turning his gaze to the city with one flick of his wrist his weapons came to his hands.

Rider snapped out of his own pain and looked out over the city. “Your right. Fuck sleep. We got a job to finish.”

Blue Technomancer CHAPTER 6

Beau was stationed on the ground just outside the store entrance with the rifle and pistol while Rider was inside trying to find out how many people they had to deal with. He had his back against the wall. Suddenly, the ground started shaking but only in the store. Beau looked inside the store. A thick blue fog was inside. But I heard the sound of fighting.

Seconds later six mutants Rat humanoid blue men came out fog screaming with guns. They saw Beau and charged toward him yelling. Beau swung his pistol around took aim and he fired on them killing one and wounding the others and ducked behind rocky cover to reload. He heard a flash bang sound go off suddenly and followed by a dying scream before several bodies fell down.

Beau peeked out to see Rider coming to him and threw him a pistol with two other people and the mutants dead on the ground. Rider held up an extra magazine. Beau reached out with his right hand the magazine flew into his grasp. “What happened?” He asked.

Rider shook his head. “It was a set up. The mutants wanted to eat us. I made a deal the two gentlemen with me though if they help us out I’ll get them weapons, food and medical treatment from Doc E. I’ll introduce you.” He said helping Beau up onto his back and lifting him up.

Beau turned his attention to the two twenty year old men walked over to meet him. They were dressed in jeans and leather jackets. Rider pointed to the man in looked in his mid twenties with short red hair blue eyes that gave off a pale glow. His skin also had a tint of blue in it. “This is Eddie Long. He’s an earth specialist. His friend over here is Vince. He can see through walls and is good with communication. Fellas. This is my partner Beau Lucas. He’s our marksman and he’s got powers that work best with metal and machinery.” Rider said.

Eddie snorted. “Look at this shit. A fucking lightning guy and a cripple gun nerd with magic techno powers.” He said laughing at Beau’s condition.

Vince grimaced and studied Beau with flash of blue light that came out of his eyes. “Is what the lightning guy said about you helping us with food and medical treatment true? The truth.” He asked.

Beau nodded his head. “Yeah. Doctor E will help you and tell you if you need treatment for your conditions.” Beau said quickly not thinking about how easily he talked and answered without thought. “That’s scary.” He said as he realised that Vince had an ability to make people do things on command.

“What’s that?!” Rider asked.

Beau gave Rider a steady gaze. “Vince has an ability to use light or some type of hypnotic light and energy with in his eyes. Light and a few commands and he make anybody do what he wants. It’s a clever trick.” Beau said.

Rider grunted in acknowledgement. His eyes changed.

“It’s not a trick. It’s my power. It’ll be helpful to you to if you make good on your word about the doctor.” Vince said.

Eddie shrugged. “Not really. It’s how his power works. Here’s the deal. My friend and I aren’t getting into any bullshit danger yo help you. If you two yahoos want to go up against the ape men…well.”

“Ape men. That’s who has the women?” Beau said and looked at Rider. “How did you know?” He asked him.

Rider stared at Eddie. “Your sure they’re ape men. Blue hair and giant brick shit houses.” He said.

Eddie and Vince nodded. “So we got a deal then?” He said.

Rider nodded. “We have a deal but you can’t punk out on us the last minute. We’ll take care of the danger you get in to position and protect the females when they need it.” He said.

Eddie looked at Vince. “Do it!” He said.

Vince looked at Rider flashing a light into his face from his eyes again. “Kill the cripple and take us to Doctor E first and we’ll..holy shit.” Vince said but stopped as electrical energy suddenly surrounded his body in a force field of lightning and violent energy.

Eddie snarled and the ground under them shook. “Let him go fucker or I’ll send you and legless to fucking China.” He said.

Rider’s eyes glowed with lightning power as he lifted his hand. “No more games. If you attempt to hurt my friend or use me to do so. I will kill you and your friend instantly. I will keep my word to you but if you fuck with me again all bets are off and I’ll take your asses down with me to hell with me.” He said.

“Fine. Fine. Damn it. Fine. Fine. Your crazy psycho. We’ll take you to them and help rescue the girls.” Eddie said.

“Good.” Rider said and let the fore field down around Vince.

A second it was let down Beau lifted his hand and formed a collar around Vince’s neck. The collar had a blue light on it that flickered. Both men freaked.

“What the fuck is this shit? Get it off me!” Vince said as he attempted to pull at the collar.

“Get that collar off him freak. We had a deal.” Eddie said.

Beau looked at him. “Wrong. You had a deal with Rider. You tried to use my friend to kill me. We ain’t got shit between us mother fucker. You’ll take us to the building. You’ll help us out with the rescue and I’ll let your friend live. You try any of your sneaky shit again all pop his head off like a cherry bumb and put a bullet between your big ears bitch mother fucker-ah.” He said.

Eddie stared at Beau. “Holy shit. Your a black dude aren’t you.” He said.

Beau smiled. “Fuck you.” He said.

The building was one of the few still standing in Times Square. The reason for that was the large pieces of alien body parts logged into it. This left the building glowing like a night light in the twilight of day and evening.

“The fuck. Their in there. I ain’t going inside that alien monster building.” Eddie Long said voicing a fear they all had of entering the other worldly building.

“You’ll go inside or I’ll fucking blast your ass with electricity. A deal is a deal. Vince can you see what section the females are held in?” Rider said.

“5th floor. Damn it. They’ve got fucking kids in that space. Some of them are…damn it. I’m going in. Eddie.” Vince said and looked at his red head friend.

“Fine. Shit. Fine.” Eddie cursed. “I’ll take us up. Mother fucker, you will have to distract or draw them away from the females. I ain’t fighting them fucking blue demons. Leave the cripple behind. He’s no good to anyone even with a gun.” He said.

“Rider let me down.” Beau said.

Rider did so as Beau gathered metals around from the building and in the city and formed legs as he got to his feet. Two blue 1911s appeared in his hands. His full head helmet formed over his face and head surprising the two men as he turned to look at them as he came to his feet ready for battle.

They stared at him with wide eyes. Vince shook his head. “What the fuck are you?” He said.

“Shit man. You could have told us you could do that shit from the jump man. Shit.” Eddie said with unease in his shaky voice.

“Long. Figure out a way to shield the hostages with your power. Vince you try to keep the women and children calm. Rider and I will be the distraction and take out their main forces. If you and friend run out on us and they end up all dead. I’ll find you Eddie and I’ll send you ass to son with hell storm of bullets. You can be sure of that shit.” He said and walked toward the building with Rider following.

“Fuck you too man. Hurry up. We’ll keep up our end of the deal asshole.” Eddie said.

The guards at the entrance drew on them but Beau was already unloading bullets in them before they walked past the entrance. Beau jumped over the bodies and headed inside with Rider quickly running fast catch up with Beau as they advance toward open door way that lead upstairs.

They moved fast taking the stairs two at a time. They reached the third floor and a door burst apart as a muscled ape man grabbed Beau and threw him over the railing.

Rider roared blasting the ape man with lightning only to stare as the ape man knocked him aside and started strangling him.

Beau leaped over the railing kicked the ape man in the head sending him flying back. Rider grasped for air and stared as Beau faced off against the ape man with shot gun in his hands and unloaded a blast of blue shotgun rounds into the ape man twice before kicking him over the railings with both feet.

“Fucking hell.” He said and turned to Rider throwing him the shot gun. “Save the lightning shit for a full on punch. Let’s go.” He said.

“How the fuck! Did get back up here?! Can you fly?” Rider asked.

Beau grinned. “Jet boots. I got the idea from you.” He said with a wink.

Rider stared at him and snorted. “Fucking hell Beau. Let’s go!” He said

Beau’s pistols came to his hand and he started advancing up the stairs leading the way. Rider took a breath looking shaky for second as he leaned against the wall and then he dragged himself up using the wall and pushed himself to follow Beau. Beau got to the 5th floor and the door exploded apart as gun fire rained out into the hallway and then stopped a moment.

“Jackie girl. You in there.” Beau yelled.

“Beau?! Run. Beau your alive!? No wait. You can’t ahh!” Jackie was silenced with a loud slap.

“Son of a bitch. Fuckers. Let the women and children go or I’ll fucking paint the walls with your blood.” Beau said.

“Come out Beau. Is it?! We’ll give you your girl. But want those nice guns of yours. Threw em inside first.”

Beau grimaced and prepared to head inside Rider stopped him shaking his head. “Getting killed isn’t going to help her or the rest. We need you with us if we’re going to stand a chance to take out these fuckers.” He whispered to Beau.

“I’m open to any ideas you got.” Beau said.

“Can you make a mirror so we can see inside?” Rider asked.

Beau started to nod but then stopped. He smiled. “I got one better for you. Flash Bang! Can you do it?” He said.

Rider frowned and then laughed. “No problem.” He said and snapped his fingers.

I loud bang of light flashed inside the room. Women screamed and then bodies fell down.

Beau and Rider raced inside as Eddie and Vince floated up on an earth pillar and put a wall of earth between the women and the men.

Rider unloaded shotgun rounds on the nearest ape man and then sent a shock wave into the rest of them. But they all shook it and started to attack. The floor gave way under ape men suddenly sending them down several flights of floors to ground level where they died.

Beau’s mask and guns fell away as the wall of earth vanished and he stood face to face with Jackie. She was the same Red headed beauty in blue jeans and green blouse. No. Her eyes were different. She stared at him and then held up her hands with came near him.

“Don’t touch me.” She said.

“Honey. I know I look different but it’s still me. The same Beau Lucas.” Beau said in confusion and hurt in his voice.

She shook her head. “No. No. Your not him. He’s dead. Your just some freak pretending to be my Beau. Your not my Beau.” She said with tears in her eyes glaring at Beau like he was monster come to steal her soul.

Blue Technomancer CHAPTER 5

Early dawn the early morning….

Beau checked his two Glocks. He had only four rounds in each pistol.

Rider sat on the floor while eating a microwaved ham and egg sandwich. He stared at Beau’s hands. “Your hands are glowing.”

Beau grunted dismissively at the comment. He had noticed it but again didn’t care to comment on it.

“It means something. Your body is reacting to your thoughts. You might be able to use your powers on the guns.” Rider said.

Beau shook his head. “We need bullets more then unreliable powers. You’ve barely gotten your powers up to full support and we still have a guest coming by any time soon.” He said.

Rider shrugged. “My powers might be unreliable but yours were pretty reliable. You have some type of connection to weapons and metals. You can use that to improve our situation or at least maybe the poor condition of the guns in your hands. You just have to push and think of what you need and then maybe-“

Beau held one of the pistols in his hand it broke apart spun around in circles, loose metals and other materials into the spinning pieces then reformed into a new blue steal pistol. The new firearm pistol looked like a cross between a 1911 with a long nose that was completed with a tiny lazer pointer.. He released the magazine out and looked inside. It was full ten glowing bullets.

“Well damn. You learn how to do things fast.” Rider said.

Beau nodded and sent the other glock floating over to Rider’s free hand. Rider smiled and he checked the magazine. It was full with the same glowing bullets.

Rider started to speak but Beau held a finger to his lips. Rider listened. He didn’t hear anything but there was a stillness around them and the hairs on the back of his neck stood up on end. He quietly snapped the glock magazine in place. He lay back on the floor of the store.

They waited listening and waiting. The tension built as it got darker in the abandoned store. All light from lamps grew dimmer and the fading light of day from the sun cracking through the broke door way window.

Beau snored lightly as he felt the thing coming closer. It went first toward Rider. He still couldn’t see it but he heard it’s foot steps. He drew his glock out and aimed it high. A lazer beam focused on the body of the thing glowed revealing the thing. It was huge monster with the hairy body circular body of spider mutant before he fired on it.

The monster screamed a hellish sound. Rider unloaded his rounds and lightning on the creature.

The creator locked a hold of something around Rider’s neck. Beau was up and reached for the bullets with his power inside the creator and started pulling and shooting them like bees inside it’s body continuously.

Black blood was painted around them as the creature screamed and released Rider and turned to run. Beau followed it using metals and firing bullets to create a storm of bullets around it. He fell to the ground his metal legs broke down but he continued his attack until Rider came up punched a hole through the thing with blue lightning and light.

The darkness lifted and the giant female mutant spider lay on the ground in pool of it’s own blood.

Beau stared at it. “Shit.” He said before he emptied his stomach of his last meal on the ground.

Rider nodded. “Fucking hell bitch. Yeah. You should count yourself lucky you didn’t fucked over by this bitch’s mutation.” He said and looked at him and grimaced. “Can you walk?”

Beau shook his head. “I’m out for twenty-four hours. I think until I can make a new pair. Shit! I’m hungry.” He said.

Rider gritted his teeth. “We don’t have the time. We don’t get this shit done I’m out of two men.” He said.

Beau shook his head. “Alright. If you can carry me to the place. The best I can do is give you back up with the rifle. You’ll have to do the rest.” He said.

Rider stared at him. “No matter what. I’m going to help you find and get your girl back. No matter how long it takes or I die trying. You got my word on it.” He said.

Beau believed but he smiled. “Whatever Mr. Hero. Pick my metal ass up and let’s get this shit done.” He said.

Rider lifted Beau up on his shoulders into a fireman carry and bent down to take the rifle case in his other hand and started off leaving the dead mutant to burn.” He said.

Blue Technomancer CHAPTER 4

Beau’s world fell away into complete darkness and then he felt something with a strong hand on him pulling him somewhere from the darkness. He couldn’t understand what the hell was happening and then realized something important. He wasn’t dead. He was having an extremely violent nightmare.

“Open your eyes, Mr. Lucas!” A girl’s voice said.

Beau opened his eyes as he stared at beautiful young girl with tan blue skin deep black hair that flowed down her shoulders like silk. She was Asian American. He had been watching. Her glasses were off but here eyes closed tightly now. She was crying.

“I’m sorry. I won’t take off my glasses again I promise. I didn’t mean to hurt you.” The girl said with pleading in her voice and a hint of child like fear.

Beau realized she had made him have the strange dream. He also realized it hadn’t been her intentions. She didn’t have control over her powers.

Beau frowned at her shaking his head and picked up her glasses putting them back on her face. “I just had a bad dream Angel. You didn’t do anything wrong.” He said.

Angel shook her head. “I took my glasses off. Doctor E warned me not to do. I won’t do it again. Was it a death dream?” She said.

Beau flinched back and stared at her. “Yes. Honey it was just a dream. We’re all going through major life changes right but we’ll pull through. It’ll be alright.” He said lying to her knowing nothing was going to be the same after today.” He said.

Angel sighed. “You have to remember your dream. Doctor E said there patterns. She says you can break a pattern. But, it depends on the timing.. Promise me you’ll remember to break the pattern. Please.” She said.

Beau had no idea what she was saying. But, he knew had to calm her down. “I promise. Now lay back and rest your head some.” He said.

“Can you tell me about your family. Your family back home? What’s Texas like? I always wanted to go there. My grandpa is from Texas.” She said smiling at the thought.

Beau laughed and then was surprised at the sound. “Texas. It’s a big place with a mixed bag of friendly cultures all mingling together. There is no place on earth like it. Trust I been around a bit and seen somethings. My family isn’t that big to most. I got three younger brothers and two little sisters. My mom and Dad are the best. They raised us to be good people. Fun loving people. I was planning on seeing in a few days. That plan kind ah went to shit. I mean hell.” He said.

Angel giggled. “I don’t mind if you curse. My Daddy likes to it do it a lot when he watches Football.” She said.

Beau laughed. “Angel. How old are you?” He said.

“I’m fifteen. I know I look pretty mature for my age.” Angel said.

Beau snorted in laughter. “Aw. Yeah. Your pretty mature and funny. Where are you from Angel? Here or some place else?” He said.

Angel smiled. “I’m from Orlando, Florida. The sunny state of the world.” She said and then frowned. “Will I ever get to see my house again?” She said.

Beau couldn’t lie. “I don’t know but you got your family here with you and home. Well home is where ever your family is sweaty.” He said.

“Are you a soldier?” Angel asked suddenly.

“Well yeah. Special forces. I’d your Dad a soldier too?” He said.

Angel shook her head. “My Grandpa was in the marines. He retired recently. We came here to see him and vacation. He…he died.”

“I’m sorry.” Beau said.

Angel’s lips trembled. “I saw it happen. It was a heart attack. I-I didn’t know what to do. I thought-“

“It wasn’t your fault.” Beau said. “No matter what happened. I know your grandfather wouldn’t want you worrying about whether it was your fault or not. You got to remember that.”

Angel started crying silently. But she nodded. “Thank you, Beau.”

Rider arrived at the hospital early in the morning but he wasn’t alone and he had on a military vest and pants. He had a rifle case with him.

Beau had been dozing half through the night as he watched a young girl and make sure she didn’t remove the sunglasses on her face.

Rider met with Doctor E explained somethings to her in a low tone. She waved Beau forward. Beau got to his feet feeling the pain spike through him but fought through it.

He walked toward them. Rider’s gaze locked with his. “You good with a rifle. I need back up.”

“You find my girl?” Beau asked.

“I don’t know yet. If you can’t handle your emotions then you can stay. I can’t afford to mess up the mission. Can you keep your shit together for a few hours? I got two men who are willing to go with us we just need to take out two big sum-a-bitches that killed their daughters.”

Beau stared at him. “I’m not murdering two random assholes. How the hell do you know-” He said but the direct stare at Rider gave him made him pause.

“I saw it happen.” Rider said. “The assholes snapped their necks before I could do anything and then I had to get them out before assholes mowed us down with bullets. I spent the last few hours tracking them down after I helped the fathers bury their kids. I can’t take them out on my own. I need a shooter.”

“Damn.” Beau said turning to look at Angel who was asleep in her bed and then looked back at Rider. “I feel bad for the fathers but-” He said.

“There’s a strong likelihood your girl is held up with the other woman by the big gang in the city. If you want to get her back. We need men willing to go with us and take them out and get the women and children free.” Rider said all business.

Beau started and stared at him. “Wait a minute. You said they were only holding women.” He said.

Rider shook his head. “I was wrong. The gang isn’t particular about their ages. Are you with me or not. I need an answer right now.” He said.

Beau held out his hand. “Give me the case.” He said.

Rider nodded and handed Beau the case. “It’s good for two rounds. That’s it.. Let’s head out.” He said and turned walking away.

Beau followed him.

“Beau!” Angel called after him.

Beau turned back and looked at her. She looked pale and stared at him.

“Remember the dream. You can break the pattern. You promised.” Angel said in a whispering voice.

Beau felt a chill go down his spine and looked down at the rifle case in his hand. It was the same case like in the dream. He looked up Angel. She was staring at him. Her lips shaking.

“I’ll remember.” Beau said.

“Beau. Stop fucking around. We have to go.” Rider said in annoyed voice.

Beau started and turned to go following after Rider quickly.

Forty minutes later, Rider and Beau were walking down a block of stores. Beau caught his image in one of the windows. He stared a few seconds.

“Stop fucking around. We have to move. It’s getting late. We have to get to the store before long.”

Beau started looking around he caught one of the blue ape men watching them. He started out toward them. It was a signal to the others to begin the attack.

“We got trouble.” Beau said dropping the case.

Rider turned and started up his power. His power flickered and went out. Beau felt his face shield flick over his face. He reached out his hands and pulled two glocks into his hands. Beau took aim at an ape man charging at him and put a bullet in his head.

The others screamed and ran off. Rider blinked looking at him in surprise. “That’s a neat trick.” He said.

Beau nodded. He knew it wasn’t over though. Someone else was out there watching them. He didn’t know what it was but he was going to be ready for it tonight. He turned to Rider. “We won’t make it to the target store it’s to late. We better find a place to hide out for the night.” He said giving Rider a signal they were being watched.

Rider nodded catching the signal Beau gave him. “Yeah. Good idea. I’m kind of tired.” He said.

Beau picked up the rifle carrying case and took a hold of Rider around his back.

“Who the fuck is watching us?” Rider whispered to him.

Beau shook his head. “Don’t know. They’ll be tracking us though. We’ll have to be ready tonight. You need to get some food and as much rest as you can.” He said. “They’ll be coming for us tonight.” He said.

“How?” Rider whispered.

Beau shook his head. “I’ll tell you later.” He said.

Blue Technomancer CHAPTER 3

Beau felt weird. Like the earth shifted and then everything was different as he followed Rider down the street. He didn’t know why something wasn’t right. Everything felt off. He frowned as he tried to remember when he had left the hospital and why. They had been in a rush for some reason. He stopped and stared at himself in the glass window of a building and the rifle carrying case that was behind his back.

“Stop fucking around. We have to move. It’s getting late. We have to get to the store before long and be careful with the rifle.” Rider said interrupting Beau’s thoughts.

Beau ignored Rider as he stared at the image of his mired face in the city street window. He didn’t recognise the image staring back at him as his own face.

Beau’s skin was a tanned navy blue color. His hair was gone but strangely for his eye brows that were black now. His eyes were still a dark chest nut brown and his lips and rest of his face were the same but he was changed completely.

The more he stared at his image the more he wanted to hide it. He was disgusted by it and then suddenly he was faceless. His eyes, nose and lips gone as a faceless mask spread over his face. He was a monster.

Beau screamed falling to the ground holding his face. Trying to find his lips and nose again.

Rider grabbed his shirt collar pulling him to his feet. “Get it together we got trouble around us. I said get it together asshole. You want to find that girl of yours don’t you. Focus on the mission and block every else out of your mind. Stop being a bitch and get it together, soldier!” He said.

Rider’s words snapped Beau out of it as he focused on his task. “Yes. Yes.” He gentle pushed Rider away and started breathing in and out until he felt in control.

“What do we have here boys?” A male voice said.

They turned as they suddenly found themselves surrounded my a gang people spiky white hair blue men in dressed in jerseys and shorts and carrying metal bats. They all moved as one trying to crowd in one Beau and Rider.

“Nice rifle case. We’ll be taken the case and whatever else you got on you.” Another man said.

Rider put his back close to Beau’s back. They were being surrounded by a group of men. Rider blasted them with a round of lighting. That only pushed them down to the ground.

The men started laughing as they rose up to their feet and their bodies began to change and morph to blue sliver-back large ape sized all blue and with bulging muscles.

Rider’s body lite up with electricity and then went out..”Shit out of energy. We’ll have to do this the old fashioned way.” He said.

“Take out the faceless freak, first.” One of the ape men said.

Beau was the smallest of the group with no weapon in hand but his hands. He looked down at his hands as he felt his hands they felt smooth and tapped them together. They clicked like metal clicking together. Hmm.

One of Ape men charged at Beau from the right. Beau swung at him connecting with his jaw. Beau heard a crunching sound and the ape man fell back holding his bleeding jaw and crying out.

“Fucking freak!” The ape man screamed.

One of the men pulled out a Glock 17 and fired at him. Beau threw up his hands. The bullet hit his head. His head snapped back as it felt like jab punch against a mental headgear protection. It made Beau realise that it was some type of layer of protection for his face under it. He saw the glock on the ground move as he stared at it.

Beau held out his hand and the glock and it flew into his hand and he held it up aiming it at the group. “Get the fuck on or stay and die.” He said.

The ape men were already turning around and started running away fast in a panic.

Beau checked the pistol’s magazine. It had seven rounds left. “Damn. I’m going to need more ammunition.” He said and blinked as felt the mask retract back from his face and he could see and touch his face again. “Fuck. This shit is weird.” He said.

Rider fell to his knee and looked shaky. “We have to find a place to rest for the night. I’m out of energy and I’m about to crash out soon enough.” He said.

Beau nodded looking at Rider’s shaky form. Rider was breathing heavy and his eyelids were half closed as he fought to keep on his feet. “How long have you gone without eating food or drinking?” He asked.

Rider gave him a shaky smile shaking his head to clear it of the dizzy look on his face. “Twelve hours. Maggie made me breakfast in bed for my birthday before everything went to hell. My brother showed up at our apartment to surprise me. I thought it was going to be a great day. I never realise how many great days I had before…” Ridder said and then paused for a few seconds with a sad smile on his face and then he shook his head and grimaced. “Maggie was my wife.” He said.

Beau said nothing and helped Rider to his feet. He looked around and recognised the area. “Yeah. There’s a restaurant and convenient store in this area. We can hold out the night in the store and stake up on supplies.” He said.

Rider nodded putting his arm on Beau’s shoulder. Beau handled his weight easy and half carried him to the store. It was broken into but the shelves weren’t completely empty as they head into the back of the store.

Beau kicked the back door open and carried Rider inside. Rider was half asleep when Beau put him down. He looked around the store found some canned corn and beans. He opened one can up pulling back the metal easily and downing the corn down his throat.

He found a backpack in the back and started gathering supplies and headed to the back to find Rider still sleeping. He snored softly.

That strange weird feeling followed Beau into his sleep. He dreamed of a beautiful young girl staring at him with tears flowing down her cheeks. He wondered who she was and then remembered he had met her at the hospital just before Rider had come to take him away for the mission.

Beau frowned and tried to remember when he had left the hospital or when he had met the doctor. His memory was out of focus. Something was wrong. He stared at the girl’s face as she began to become afraid of something she saw.

“Wake up! Mr. Lucas. You have to get up now to see what happens. In the dream. Wake up!” The girl ordered him.

Beau woke up the next morning next to Rider who wasn’t snoring anymore. Rider was motionless. No. He wasn’t breathing.

Beau frowned and slowly turned Rider over on the floor. Rider’s face was ash grey and his eyes open and pure black. He stared at him and then felt something attach itself to the back of his neck and immediately started feeling his energy being pulled out of him as female laughter was behind him.

He gasped and fought a fruitless battle as his he felt his energy being drained out of him until it was all but gone…..…

Blue Technomancer CHAPTER 2

They had travelled for four hours in quiet whispering debate on heading to Doctor E or heading straight for the gang holding the women. Beau had won by insisting they needed help and some men at the hospital might be able to help them in the fight.

Beau walked with Rider as they scouted the city streets amongst the looters and assholes that ran around fucking with women and children that were still alive or alone.

A large blue chested man carrying a naked girl screaming ran almost past them with no care on his face. He ignored them but Rider stepped in his way and punched the man in the throat. The man gagged almost dropping the girl but Beau caught her. She yelled and smacked his chest and face fighting Beau now.

“Get your fucking hands off me. Get off me monster! GET OFF ME!” She yelled.

She screamed and stopped attacking him as her hands hurt from striking him. She then took off running.

Rider kicked the man in the crutch sending him down to the ground and glared at him as the man stared up at him in fear. Rider’s eyes sparked with blue lightning.

“What the fucks your deal? It’s the end of world asshole. Who-” He said or started to say but Rider suddenly smiled down at him making him go silent.

“Wrong asshole. This isn’t the end of the fucking world. It’s just another day in New York City. Get the fuck over yourself because if you live past tomorrow you’ll have to answer to somebody for your bullshit or you can pay right now.” Rider said with hint of something intentional in his voice.

“Fuck you. I’m going home.” The man said and took off running.

“I see you in the street again. I’ll fuck you up asshole.” Rider yelled after him.

Beau stared at him. The man was just as crazy as the freak that had taken the girl away. He didn’t say though.

Rider sighed. “I know what your thinking Beau and your right. I am crazy.” He said.

Beau looked up at the blue sky and sparks of lightning that seemed to flash at bolts of red lightning and knew that the world he had grown up was gone forever. “What kind of world is this place?” He asked.

Rider turned to Beau with normal dark eyes. “Your going to need some clothes and a wet bath. There’s a makeshift hospital down the block. Doc E will give you some clothes. She’ll need some help. I’ll meet you down there in a couple of hours. I need to have a look around the city to see if anyone needs help. Go to the hospital and find out fit and any man with hunting or military experience or hell anyone would be willing to help us. Do your best.” He said before bending down into a crutch.

Beau backed away as red and white lightning gathered around Rider’s legs. A rumbling started in the ground beneigh his feet and sound thunder was heard. Rider roared in rage and then launched himself up high like a rocket taking off from earth until he was over the city hovering for a few seconds and the he took off transforming into a beam of electrical energy and raw power.

Beau stared in shock. “Holy shit.” He said and then heard a gun going off nearby and feet running. He cursed and hurried off in the to the hospital at a run.

He ran fighting the pain that spiked up his legs with every step but he kept going putting the pain out of his mind as he concentrated on the place that was just up ahead of him. It was strange though he felt like he was moving fast until he finally arrived at the guarded entrance of the hospital. Two tall men with shot guns and knives met him.

Beau came to a dead stop and made them jump back in alarm. He held up his hands as they raised their weapons with looks of fear on their faces.

“Hello. I’m a friend of Rider. He told me the way to get here. I was wondering if I could see Doctor E please.” Beau said.

The hospital was a chaotic place with people on makeshit beds and varying people with mutated bodies. A woman with short black hair and a lab jacket on was moving around beds looking at patients talking with them and then treating who she could. Occasionally her eyes glowed. Her gaze fell on Beau. She went over to him frowning stopping once to bend down at a box picked out a green hoodie.

She got to him throwing it to him as her eyes glowed brightly and her eyes scanned his body. “Your stabilised for the most part. Tonight you’ll need a wheel chair but for now I need you to help out around the hospital until Rider gets back for something for you to do.”

“Excuse me but who the hell are you?” Beau asked.

“Eva but you can call me Doctor E. Who are you?”

“Beau Lucas. Are you a real doctor?”

Doctor E frowned at him. “Yes. I work at John Hopkins. I was on vacation when the alien dropped down on us. Please. I know your going through some issues right but there are people dying around us and they need your help. Listen your body is stable right now. There’s nothing more I can do to help you. I could use your help though with-“

“Nothing to do to help me? I can’t even feel my legs for Christ’s sake. I’m not staying like this. You have to help me.” Beau said.

E stared at him. “Yes you are. Your body has been graphed with a bone sample of the alien into your spine. You are changed forever and the legs that you have right now are a product of your brain and energy making prosthetic legs. Your legs are gone. In time you will learn how to make better legs or make due with your condition but it won’t be the same. You can spend the next couple of years drowning in fear and self-pity but Rider and many others are worse off then you are. His heart will explode and he will die before he turns fifty years or with in the next year. You. You will live several more decades then me. My condition will worsen and I will have a brain bleed before I turn forty four if I can’t change my situation. I have a sixty-six possible success rate of doing so. Is that all you need to know?”

Beau stared at her knowing she wasn’t lying spinning him a story. “How do you know all that? Can you see the future?” He asked cautiously.

E shook her head. “Of course not. It’s not magic it’s a mutation brought on by the alien’s radiation. I can scan your body and make an analysis on what will happen to you as your mutation increases over time and I’m never wrong. Go sit with that little girl over there and make sure she doesn’t open her eyes or take off her sunglasses while I treat her mother.” She said turning in the direction of the girl that lay on the makeshift bed trying to take off her sunglasses.

Blue Technomancer Prologue

Beau Lucas never had been a man to give much thought about an after life or hell though he had been known to wish a couple of sum-a-bitches there from time to time in his life and profession. Now as he lay speared through the chest by a blue metal spear and covered in dirt, blood, a strange blue liquid flowing out of him he thought otherwise. This was his hell. Every time he opened his eyes regained his sanity for moment he woke up to the sorry state of his existence.

Pain.

Misery.

Loneliness.

He never felt any of that shit in his life time but now here in a cave of burning blue hell fire and rubble around him. He felt it. What the hell had he done so bad for the almighty to put him here.

Just two hours previously before his death when the meteor or whatever thing struck the building breaking through into the expansive restaurant he had brought his girl to propose to her. His mind went back to that time. When life had been normal. Things went the expected way for him which was right on the money good. Jackie knew he was going to propose the moment he reached for the box in his suit jacket. The whole setup was just for show and romance. It was the dream proposal she had wanted and Beau had always been ready to give her whatever she wanted. Things were supposed to go how they usually did with them perfect. Things changed quick in an instant.

One moment he was on his knee the next moment he was on the ground speared through the back. He begged her to go and wondered why in the hell he was still alive. He couldn’t feel anything below his chest and spear and got him clean through his spine.

She finally ran leaving him to die alone. He thought of the years he spent growing up with her back in Texas. He thought about his home town of Fort Worth. He thought of his family that would be morning his death now.

“It’s not fair. Why am I in hell?” Beau spoke the question to himself aloud.

“This ain’t hell and you’re not dead.” A man answered for him.

Beau lifted his head and gaze to look at a man bare chested glowing with electricity and a blue fire bend down on one knee and staring at him. He shook his head. “I look fucked up I know. But, I’m in the same boat as you are soldier.” He said with no humor or pity in his voice.

Beau stared at him. “What happened?” He said.

The man shrugged. “Near as I can tell some damn alien fell on the city killing over a hundred people and changing the rest of us. I lost my brother and wife. I’m helping who I can until whatever that bitch demon did to me kills me eventually.” He said.

I laughed at him. “What? You got a hero complex or something? We’re all fucked with what your saying is true. What’s the use?”

He shrugged again unmoved by my words. “I promised my brother I would help the ones living if I can and I’m not the only one helping. There’s a lot of orphans out there now. You want to stay here and die of self-pity I don’t care but we could use some help. What do you do?” He said.

“Nothing. I am nothing now and I can’t do anything. Go away. I would rather die then live through what has happened to me.” Beau said.

He reached for spear and yanked it out of Beau’s back. “Get up.”

Beau stared at him. “Fuck you asshole. I can’t even feel my legs.” He said.

“I said get up soldier. There’s a war still going on and I need men to help me. Get up.” The man said.

“Fuck you.” Beau said.

The man stared at him. “Coward.”

Beau felt rage spark him to push himself to his feet. Pain shot through his body but he used his training to block it out and push himself up and to stand. He swung his fist and punched the other man’s mouth making him bleed blue blood.

The man smiled. “I saw you making new legs as I walked in with the metal and pieces of the spear. The pain will lessen enough for you to use your powers. Your going to help me save as much of them as I can.”

“I ain’t helping you do shit.” Beau snarled.

“Yes you will. We’re soldiers. It’s what we do. Besides that. We’re on a short time table before whatever the alien did to us kills us. It’s better to do something useful then to sit around being useless while other people that can live die needlessly from the damage done or by some asshole trying to take advantage of the situation. Let’s go.” The man said in a tone and voice of authority.

Beau frowned wondering at his words then thought of Jackie and the kind of break down situation this brought out to the monsters that had to hide.. If she was alive during this then day of hell then…fuck it. He needed to find her before some asshole killed or raped her. He had to find her.

“Let’s go Soldier.” The man said.

“Hey. Who the hell are you?” Beau asked.

“You can call me Rider. What’s yours?” Rider said.

“Beau. Beau Lucas.” He said.
