Chapter 3
“Holy fucking shit.” Vince said as he puffed away on his cigar. “Who the fuck is this asshole.”
Ron sipped on his drink. “I’m going to kill him.” He said softly. “He’s mean. You hear me and I want what he took from her.”
Vince shook his head. “Hell no. I’m burning it and your not going to murder anybody. I’m the champion. I’ll talk to him and see if this thing can be negotiated.” He said.
Ron stared at him. “How did you know she was hiding something?”
Vince sat back. “She was talking to high and mighty and acting tough like she was in charge my bullshit meter went off. A innocent person would be shitting themselves at the kind of situation she’s in. You would have caught it but for the fact she’s your little girl so you like to believe she didn’t have a damn hand in this shit. She was playing with fire. She knows she fucked up but she to young and foolish to admit it and that’s not all.” He said.
Ron nodded. “She’s lying about something else. She won’t tell us what it is now. She’ll close up and act innocent now. Damn it. Are you rejecting my daughter.” He asked.
“You were expecting my brother to represent Ahlar. Did you or your lady meet him?”
“No. We just know of your brother’s successful track record in cases. Are you avoiding my question.” Ron asked.
Vince stared at him. “It’s not like my brother to run out on a case. He lives and breathes for challenges. I don’t trust your daughter. Her word is worthless to me and until I saddle her shit I don’t know if I’ll live to think of claiming her. I don’t know my enemy yet. I can’t focus on her and him.”
“Are you bullshiting me?” Ron asked.
Vince shook his head. “No. I’m not. Your lady asked me to keep this shit clean without it turning into a war. I’ve never used a hand gun short of a shot gun. The best I’m good at is hand to hand and knifes and blades. I’ve never killed anyone so-“
“It doesn’t have to come to that we agreed on a boxing match as the last resort if the negotiations fail. Why do you believe it would come to a war?” He asked.
“I’ve seen your daughter. If this asshole is determined to have her he’ll kill for her. I would for her…beauty and grace alone and she comes from the Golden Omegas sorority.” Vince said with a shrugged and was thankful that he caught himself replacing fat ass and tits for beauty and grace.
Ron lifted his middle finger. “Alright for now we’ll put aside the alliance agreement of payment until matters have concluded with Mr. Gallant Morning.” He said.
“Gallant Morning!? Sounds like a bullshit name for an Orc or any male now that I think of it. What’s his real name?”
“Joc Slicer. I only found that out when he tried claim my daughter on her graduation day. I should have killed his ass that day.” Ron said.
Vince looked at his rollax and thought about the other case loads he would have to put on hold. He leaned back in his chair. “Tell me about her graduation day. Was that the first time you met Slicer? Give me your impressions of this fucker.”
Ron nodded stiffly. “First time. But it won’t be the last. It was two weeks ago. The day my daughter graduated from university finally. She graduated with honors and made the dean’s list twice.
The tribe had all come to the event to celebrate. I hadn’t told her and wanted to make it a surprise though after what happened that day I’m glad I hadn’t told her for another reason entirely.. She had offers from three lawyer firms already and was deciding on which one to intern with before all this bullshit but then he showed up with brothers and gang with flowers and such and smoking a cigar with a shit eating grin on his fucking yellow face as he stared at my daughter like she was his personal slut in front of me. What the fuck did she see in that fucker to believe he was anything other then what he was.”
Vince leaned back in his chair. “What was Ahlar’s reaction to him showing up the way he did?”
Ron frowned at the question and something in Vince’s tone of voice. “I-I can’t remember. All I remember is watching him and then listening to him tell me in no uncertain terms that he was claiming my daughter now that I was present and presented me a case of ten gold bars for my trouble. Fucker told me he and Ahlar had an arrangement. I told that fucker to fuck off. Things got….uneasy for a moment but my tribe out numbered his. He issued a threat of war if his property wasn’t given to him.”
“What did Ahlar say to his claims at first?” Vince asked.
Ron looked at Vince. “She said she knew him and they had dated. She suggested we call in your firm to negotiate this out. She didn’t want a war with Slicer’s tribe and mean.”
Vince nodded. “Then there won’t be a war then if I can help it.”
“You do want Ahlar then!” Ron said.
Vince shrugged. “Yes. But that’s a bigger reason she needs to keep at home and away from me. I need to focus because we’re headed into a fight and need to research my opponent.”
