My name is Arnold Blair. Chief medical examiner and administrator of Drakeacape city guards. My job is a simple one. I provide details and advice here and there to law inforcement in the city.
The morgue was my office and I was busy with a new subject.
I was leaning over a poor dead boy giving off details for a guardsman to record. While a silent Marshall Irons waited to the side watching and listening. He was working a manhunt case and needed the details.
“Oya. Mr. Examiner. I got a pretty one for you to look at. Strange case.” Solly Drakewood. A guardsmen said as he walked into the morgue with a female dead body over his shoulder.
I frowned at the body. The guardsman put her on a empty table.
I studied the body giving her a quick glance. I made no move to touch her. She was naked. I estimated her age around 18-25. Blond human. Mortal.
I checked her body for wounds. None. Signs of injection of posion. None. I reached for her chin and gentle pulled her mouth open. I saw no signs of posion. I smelled nothing on her breath. She was breathing. Strange. I noticed her body was warm. I took her hand and found pink dust on her fingers.
Fucking fairy dust. Damnation. Alive. But not alive. Asleep but not asleep.
I backed up as I realized what this was. I had two questions though with two answers. “Where did you find this girl?”
“I found the body on 5th divided and lane. Why?”
“Shit. Cover her up already.”
I looked over at Irons to see him covering his gaze. Oh shit. I filed that charecter trait in my mind for later.
“What is it? What do you see?”
“Some fucker spelled the girl. Cover her up.” Iron said uneasy now.
“Doc? What the fuck is going on?” Solly said in that tone that told me he was to seconds from running.
I quickly covered her with my apren. “Solly. Go get me a fucking spellsword from the city library and be quick about it. We’ve got a serious problem here. This girl isn’t dead. She’s a victim of magical kidnapping.”
I’m reading a book on the subject and thinking about future studies to further my own exploration on my own theories and experiments.
The study of the mind and the course you can set it to is an interesting little mind puzzle to nible on.
I want to understand my own motivations for why I do the things I do. Why do I get dogmatic determined on certain topics and then totally bored and wondering on to another subject when I lose interest.
The search for why doesn’t end. I like to think, question and write and…..I want to be able to keep interest in what I do like
“Hmmm. That feels good. What happened next? How did the story end?” I said as I felt my body turn into a whole lump of kneaded and pleasure due.
“Well. She got a way. Not much excite that night of our first meeting. What happened at the authority station?”
I frowned. “I was nervous as fuck about what was going to happen to me. When I saw my brother at the station. I got even more nervous.”
“Was it something he said or a feeling?” Dallas asked before he applied pressure on my right hip before he gave me a readjusted it.
“NO! It was a look. He was surprised that I was alive.” I said and openned my eyes at it hit me. “You don’t believe I’m a clone of your wife.” I said.
“No. I don’t. But, I don’t care either way.” Dallas said smoothly.
“Why don’t you believe that? Clones are known for having memories of their original’s memories. It’s not abnormal.” I said smoothly.
“I have my reasons. But, it doesn’t matter right now. What else do you remember?” He asked smoothly trying to ease me away from my question because he knew it was upsetting me. Fine if he didn’t want to talk about then I didn’t want to talk or think about it either.
I closed my eyes. “I remember he is eyes. That’s what made realize a clue of what happened.” I said and began to force my mind back to that night.
“Are you done getting a confession?” Officer Rafe asked behind me breaking me out of vision I tried to capture of the alien in my head.
I got to my feet helpping Miss Waters to her feet and turned to face the officers. “Take Miss Waters to holding. We have a code 50b immigration issue.” I said.
The Judge looked swiftly at Miss Waters as she closed up her jacket and tried to cover herself and then back at me. “I’ll call in Sargent Drake on the swat team to head over to pick her-“
“She won’t be there or at her apartment. She’ll already be on the run.” I said as Ice showed me the park gateway the runner was headed to. “Tell Drake and the swat to head down to the place you interviewed her. I’ll meeting them there to help with the hunt.” I said.
“How the hell would you know that?” The Judge asked in annoyance.
I stared at him. “I am Authority. I have eyes everywhere.”
“Mr. Page. What will happened to me?” Miss Waters asked.
I didn’t have time for this shit. I smiled at her. “I will handle your case we’ll go through the proper channels and I will get you a proper resolution.” I said guiding her to the officers who hearded her away. The Judge stayed behind.
I reached inside my pocket for my detapad and sent a group message to Drake and King Gino Fish. “Do you have a location on her brother?” I asked The Judge as I texted Drake a short reply to what we had to deal with.
Level 5 Alien shit bag playing god on the run. Meet me at 6th Golden Road. Purple district. – Dallas
The Judge grimanced but nodded. “Yeah. He’s at the station waiting for us to bring her down with her corporate authority defense team. The boys at the station will keep him busy at the station. We should head to the nearest border she’ll be making a run for it.”
I shook my head. “There’s more then one border. She won’t be taking the usual route. I know of one in purple district.” I said and looked at my detapad as I got reply from Drake.
The hunt is on – Drake
City is on lockdown. Find and delete alien shitbag. – GinoFish
“What the hell happened to her.” The Judge asked me as he followed me out of the condo outside.
The alarms were going off to indicate the city was going into lockdown.
I turned to him.
“Miss Waters deleted Brent as he attempted to violate her under the orders of your fucking witness. Her mutation broke out and drove her insane afterward and the foreigner used the moment to craft a good bullshit story. We’ve already lost enough time. Let’s move.” I said rounding my crusier and jumping inside. Ice the Elder Dragon was in the passenger seat. I started the engine and took off down the road.
“I thought I told you I didn’t want any part in your alien political issues.”
I felt Ice’s sardonic smile. “I am Authority. I have eyes everywhere. I like that line Jr. It’s not my doing that this pretend God invaded this realm. You have to accept what you are and the lessor beings you will attract to challenge your Authority.”
“I live my own life old man. I only started getting into this shit after I finished my internship under you.”
Ice shrugged unconcerned with my words. “You took on the job Jr. You’ll have to deal with the consequences sense you became Authority.”
I am an artist to my core. Always have been always will be. Creating and crafting art gives me life. It adds joy and energy to me. But this isn’t the legacy entirely I want to leave behind.
I don’t fear death. I never have. I have my beliefs about it and an after life but in all honesty I really didn’t fear death even before I came to my own beliefs about it. I didn’t fully understand why that is until I started reading philosophy and really examining the weirdness of why I don’t fear dying.
Death isn’t something to fear at all. It’s like fearing the sun rising and setting and the end of this universe whinning down to nothing.
It is what it is. As the saying goes.
I fear. No. I HATE wasting time. I hate having to figure out to late I wasted a day on some bullshit I could have not done and I could have spent a day finishing writing a book, playing on my keyboard or shooting the shit with my brother or doing another shift at my day job.
I hate wasting time. I have a purpose. I know who I am and I know where I have been and I know my death is scheduled in my Callander in the mid to late century so I want to leave something behind before I go the way of my ancestors. Yes. I am an old fuck.
I like maps. I like knowing where I am going and having a reference point to go by to get where I need to be. That’s what I want my legacy to be. I want to be a map maker. A guy that gives advice, encouragement and wisdom to people that are where I was in life or help them avoid the traps I had to dig my way out of. I’m not about bring more bullshit into this fucking world.
I’m NOT an altruistic guy either. (Altruism is some bullshit too but I’ll save that for another post) I just know what it’s like having to figure my way out of shit and nobody giving a damn to teach me or knowing how to tell me where the fucking traps where ahead in life. Some people will take my advice or encouragement. Some people can tell me to go fuck myself. I’m cool either way.
I looked at the picture of the young couple that Miss Waters handed me in answer to my question. The man was Mr. Bruce Brent the murder victim but the girl in the picture I didn’t have a name for. She hadn’t been in any of the file history of Brent. She was a mystery and something else. I was interested now beyond surface level at this case. Not for anything sexual. It was because of what she was and what the murder victim was by the tint of earth of his eyes.
“Her name is Ellen Iceland. She’s behind all this I know she is. Fucking bitch ruined his life.”
“When did your cousin start dating her?” I asked Miss Waters.
Miss Waters stared at me. “Two months ago. She was his lab assistant at my brother’s factory. Bruce was never much of a ladies man. Always hopelessly into his studies or experiments with planets. He could have started his own company but he just loved the work and my brother gave him a big enough lab and space for him to work all he liked.”
I looked at the photo. This could all be a game this female was playing on me. “When did you realize there was something wrong about her?”
“He became a Earth elemental.” She said stiffly.
I knew what she was hinting but I had to push back. “The aliens effected our realm for decades with their experiments to push Cyberpunk out into the open. We’re all effected in some way. It’s just a matter of what could trigger a mutation out brack.”
Shena shook her head. “There is no history of elemental mutation in his gen pool or mean. We have no religious or loyalty to the aliens either.. I knew it had to be her. He started acting differently around me became less focused on his work and hanging out with me.”
Why was I allowing this stranger to pull me into an alien conflict I was trying hard to avoid. I preferred being neutral but I had know. “What happened the day of the murder?” I asked digging myself deeper into the shit.
“I-I tried to confront her with Bruce in the room. I hired a Fixer to get me information on her. He couldn’t find a single bit of information on her. She just appeared here two months ago. He gave me only two solutions. One she’s alien or two she’s some back water nomand elemental trash. I went with the nomand trash. Things didn’t….I just didn’t expect her to react the way she did or Bruce to get so angry at me.”
The idiot confronted the wrong person and she was still avoiding telling me the full truth. But, I already had an idea where this story was going. “So she showed what she was. How did Bruce end up dead?”
Miss Waters got that fish eyes far off stare. She was in the past now. Remembering the moment. “She…she laughed and then changed into one of them. The aliens. She’s a dragon. She was beautifully terrifying and majestic to look at and then she ordered Bruce to..to sacrifice me to her if he wanted to keep his immorality. I-I couldn’t believe it when he came at me and tried to to…I-I didn’t mean to do it. I didn’t kill him. It wasn’t my intention. I just wanted him to stop.” She paused frozen.
I nodded. “Where did you get the blaster?”
“It was in Bruce’s bag. I took it and….wait. Wait a minute. I didn’t kill him. It wasn’t my intent.” She begged.
I nodded. “Agreed. It wasn’t a murder. It was something else.’
Alright what is this photo telling you. There is a story here. In every article of clothing and in the very way she leans at an angle toward the camera. The gaze. The expression of one eye brow raised.
She is relaxed but posed and focused. Nothing is out of place. Everything fits and there is a story.
Interview with Kaiah Lewis best selling author of I birthed Twelve kids and run my own damn business and Boss Bitch in Charge.
GuardianDogg: First off, I want to say you have a lovely home and very welcoming family. How you are doing today?
Kaia Lewis: Thank you. I’m quite good. My daily morning Yoga ritual was fantastic and energizing afterwards I had a lovely writing session just before your arrival. I am ready for this interview to get going.
GD: Let’s dive in then. When did you realize you wanted to be a Boss bitch? Have you always had an entrepreneur spirit?”
KL: Well yes. Though I didn’t realize my full potential until my husband obtained his first million, before then I was just a house wife with three children. Those were fun adventurous times writing on my blog and doing freelance writing gigs. I was eighteen at the time.
GD: Humble beginnings. You have a very strong pose in your writing. How long did it take for you to develop it in your writing career/business?
KL: Oh I would say right around my sixth child and my husband got into investing in the hotel business that my writing took off. I got into my stride and I started getting book deal offers suddenly and here we are.
GD: Indeed. Who is your inspiration as a writer and boss? Who has cultivated you to the success you are now? Are you a self made genius?”
KL: Oh no. I would say my husband of course. He is a very busy man between doing business deals around the world and being a father of twelve. But, he always seems to find time to blow my back out on my birthday every year with the same energy and passion he did when I was eighteen. I find that inspiring.
GD: Really?! That is amazing. Such dedication and punctual timing.
KL: I agree. Of course sense I am his personal asistent in control of his schedule I always put it in his Callender of course. I always make a commitment on my part to make sure our busy schedules line up just right.
I found the source of the strange twisting of elements in the condo in the living room. She was sitting on the floor with a blaster in her hands pointed to her own chin.
She was naked but for a brown trench coat a pair of boots and glowed with green glow that flickered on her body. She had a glassed eyes dead stare that was haunting if I didn’t hear her breathing I would think she was dead. Her hair kept switching between a jade tint to a normal brunette color. She was a new mutant in a state of shock because of her new physical state. The change had broke out on her suddenly fractured her mental level ground. She was still adjusting or trying to figure out what reality she was in.
“What are you?” She asked in a voice barely above whisper or soft husky hiss tone.
“Miss Waters. I’m Authority Dallas Page. You asked for my judgment in your case. Please, tell me your side of what happened.” I said.
She looked at me with earth shaking eyes. “What are you?” She asked again.
“I’m an archetype of Ice the Elder Dragon to Cyberpunk and the three elemental aliens. Like you are of Earth. I’m here to help you. Tell me what happened.” I carefully. I wanted to get this case going and not have to deal with the lady let alone touch her. Already I had revealed to much of myself. I couldn’t risk alienating myself more in the authorities sector or dealing with what I really was.
She smiled. It was sexy ass fuck grin. Her direct stare saw into my soul and the hidden places I didn’t dare too go. She saw the hidden secrets I haven’t even discovered. A Deadly combination. Still I could see she wasn’t entirely in control of herself. Someone else or something else was speaking through her. Her element maybe or the Earth Dragon personality. “Your not like me at all. Are you one of them? What are you?” She said commanding me now to obey her.
This wasn’t going where I wanted it to go. Already I could feel that otherside of me coming to the surface. “I am Authority. I am not here to answer your questions.. Tell me your story or I will decide your judgement here and now.” I said losing a grip on my other self.
Miss Waters blinked and stared at me with normal eyes. She dropping the weapon. I reached out my hand freezing it in a dome of ice. She stared at me as I walked over and I sat down in a chair near her.
“So…how did you end up with that blaster in your hands? Was it before or after you came into maturity.” I asked her.
Miss Waters shook her head. “I’m not a mutant elemental. It was something else. I didn’t kill Bruce.”
I held up a hand. “So..tell me what happened in a calm voice. I’m listening.”
My world building started out with this muck up design of a world of mist and colorful character center piece one off stories. I didn’t intend from the jump to craft the world or knew entirely where I was going all I had was the characters and a need to just figure out where hell everything was.
I was learning as I was going forming the world by the prospectives of the charecters. The method remains so and carries on with one new addition into 2.0….
My characters old and new interactions with one another is demystifying the world. The lingo and the verbal exchanges are telling of the world they in habit. Now. It’s time to add a little noir into the mix.
Why? Well in general Noir is a element of cyberpunk fiction I have not dived into really adding to the flavor of my world only in parts. It will be a challenge and my pose will have to come up poetic and descriptive elegance but I enjoy the thought of the challenge and besides all that…it’s time to upgrade. Degradation is a modern art form I’m on a diet of currently.
I stepped out of my cruiser slipping on my suit jack in front of the authority officer in charge and several other officers outside the private condo residential building around her. What was her name? Damn it. I glanced at her name tag on her badge. Quinn. Officer Penny Quinn. I took in the scene and looked around at the others. “Officer Quinn. Sense your the acting officer in charge I would like to see my client please.”
Officer Quinn shook her head. “I was in charge until the judge arrived. You’ll have to speak to him about seeing her.” She said nodding to an officer on a huge black motorcycle cruiser.
I froze at the sight of Bran “The Judge” Rafe who was seated on his bike staring at me with his mirrored glasses on. “Your the rookie Authority taking over for Sam?”
I nodded. “I am Authority Dallas Page. Officer Rafe. I plan to insure my client’s rights are protected from a street judgement. She asked for an authority.”
The Judge shrugged and nodded to the apartment building. “She’s holed up in her place with a blaster to her chin when officer Quinn came.. She’s spooked won’t talk to us asked for an authority defense. If you can get her out we’ll take it from there?”
I stared at him. “Meaning you’ll take her to holding alive where she will stay until the case is investigated. I will find out if her plea for a defender is valid or she’s guilty.”
The Judge stared at me.
The hair on the back of my neck was standing up and my heart hammered against my chest. I gripped the B coin in my right pocket tightly. “Do you understand me Officer Rafe? It’s the standard rule I believe.”
The Judge nodded. “You being an authority should know as well with a witness and the murder weapon in the accused hand is a clear cut case. There’s no need to extend the hour on this Case or the amount of paper work we’ll have to do. That’s my judgement, Sir.”
Damn. That was pretty clear cut with a witness and the damn weapon. Still something was off. I stared at him. “Why didn’t you execute her then? What are you not telling me?”
The Judge frowned. “The witness was at the scene of the murder when it happened and we only have one witness. The lab boys are still going over the scene of the murder. It took place less then twenty-fours ago.”
Clear cut case my ass. This lazy mother fuckah didn’t want to be bothered doing the damn paper work.
“I over rule your judgement. Nothing is clear cut. I haven’t seen the interview with the witness or any other evidence. The final judgement is still up to King Fish and the high judges for the case. Officer Rafe. When I bring out the accused I need you and your officers to bring her to the station for holding. Are you capable of doing the job or do I need to hire out corporate security forces to handle the job?”
The Judge stared at me and then his face formed a slow wolfish grin. “Orders accepted. Final judgement is on you as is the paperwork.”
I nodded stiffly. I turned away from the jackass walking toward the apartment building door entrance.
“Hey, rookie your going to need a protective shielding. She’s also an elemental. I forgot to mention that. You still up for talking to her?” The Judge said. The others snorted in laughter at me.
I stiffened up my back and felt a change take hold of me. I turned and looked at him. The laughter around us stopped. No one moved. No one breathed. The stupid grin slipped off his face.
“I am Authority. You will address me as such mortal. Just….wait for me to come out with Miss Waters and do as I ordered.” I said. I kept the “or else” out of my words. What the fuck was wrong with me? I noticed that I could see my breathes in the summer night. Damn it. Ice element.
Officer Rafe nodded. “Copy that Authority. We’ll be waiting for you to bring the girl out.” He said respectfully.
I took several chilly breaths bringing my anger under control and turned back to the door and walked into the condo that smelled of earth and some other wild elemental inside.
