My problem with Altruism or the notion of it in Christianity…

Altruism – The belief in or practice of disinterested and selfless concern for the well being of others. “Some may choose to work with vulnerable elderly people out of altruism.

I grew up and around Christians and people that pretended to believe the Faith so they could put on the I’m a good person mask.

Both groups. Never did good deeds or telling people about The Lord for altruism reasons. I never got the whole telling people about The Lord forced conversations when I was a kid primarily because I wasn’t educated on the stuff and I’m an intervert. I generally only like conversations when I have the energy for it or it isn’t that type of one sided conversations with extroverts of starting a conversation with me to hear, their own opinions.

I’m not saying all extroverts do this shit just the annoying ones. I’m comfortable in silences and listening to how people think. I just can’t stand people listening to speak and lead a conversation nowhere. Anyway, I bring this up because I’ve been thinking about it off and on trying to remember an honest moment when I spent time around religious folk this appeared to be true.

I can’t really say yes though I’m trying to find an exception. Well..maybe one form of people are altruistic…

Crazy people. Real talk. The kind of people that express an un healthy disregard for their own children just because they feel “called” to help and care for certain other people or filled called to put aside time to study philosophy books while neglecting playing cards with kids or playing catch football with their son.

Pure bullshit.

You know it. I know it. The bible says it.

We all care about people or causes because our hearts or our interest is tied to the person or cause that interests us.

Warm Regards
